View Full Version : Why do we like who we do

Every year there are wars and healthy debates between posts all because we like different HM's. One side ribs the others to score brownie points and the number of baiting posts, designed to piss off your neighbours supporters is crazy. I know it happens because i am one of the main idiots that does it but in fairness 99% of these posts are retort submissions. BUT THE BIG Q IS WHY. This is an across the board assessment but not exact......
1. THE OVER 40's.....They tend to like the clean actingand sometimes regarded as boring HM's, like charlotte and to get into the game they also take on board people like Kieran, ellie and the likes of Rebecca. They dont like gross acts and are not afraid to vent their opinions on here and in many cases end up being food and fodder for the younger elliment on the forum that are wise in the ways of how to submit and deal with posts they disagree with.
2. THE 25 TO 40'S.....These are the crew that tend to like the trouble making hm's like Chanelle and the sisters. They are very vocal and dont pull punches and have ways and means of turning a post into a topical debate that allways ends up somewhere else and personalities get involved and fights break out. Some of these FM's are professionals from other times and forums and love to bait and fight but see these skirmishes as badges of honour but deep down inside they dont really care that much and can forgive.
3. THE KIDS (as I call them) These are, in the main, the cyber warriors. They have been on their laptops and devices for a few years but have 10 times more experiences to pull on than the likes of me. They are so good at what they do and know how to do it, that they nip in, lay seeds of dissent, nip out and watch the fruits of their labours. In the main these kids all make agreements who they will like and they have a secret and cementing bond with the support of the likes of Issy, Hurricane sue and sucky. They love the blood and guts and if they dont get their fixes on the show, they use the forum to feed their lust for gore. These are mainly the people that run the off season and know just how far to push and hardly ever get into trouble because they are the clever ones like little dogs that nip and bark, but rarely get caught.
Now before I get the usual....well im 15 and I dont like this and that and im a pensioner AND I LIKE ISSY, ETC ETC please just pass the post. Its a light hearted attempt at opening a discussion that might give us all a better understanding of how the forum works. (haters on me please refrain from the usual crap, its neither useful or funny)
I do it because I feel like I'll change people's minds and my fave will become more popular lol. Never happens though!

I usually dont pick firm favourites, I just call out BS when I see it. Like Chanelles usually a favourite of mine but she was an utter moron on Thursdays show, so I argued against people that I usually agree with.. and then people like Lotan had a large fanbase despite being a moron most the way through his time in the house, so I argued against most of his support quite regularly.
I find it odd when people just blindly devote themselves to one housemate, its way more fun (for me) choosing favourites by the episode rather than choosing an initial fave and standing by them

I understand that Cal,but sometimes too much can have the reverse affect and make people dislike a housemate more than they normally would. It's like when you tell someone not to do something ,they will go against you and do it.And there is an old saying "Like is drawn to like"

This year has been the hardest for years for me to choose a fav ,but watching Keiron the last few nights he's grown on me

I tend to find favourites in the most normal and down to earth people (like Chloe, Josie and Rachel, my 3 favourite winners) as well as the crazy ones (Nikki, Jayne) and also people with big personalities but I can tell are real (Chanelle, Gina Rio, Sukhvinder) and then there's the odd person who just surprises me, which makes me like them more than expected (Isabelle for sure, and to an extent Laura & Evelyn last year)

Tldr; I've finally found a way to slag off everyone I don't like but without getting the post deleted or an infraction.

Tell me something, do you ever make a post or do you just spend your time trolling and reporting posts all day long. No likey, no readie. Everyone knows your game and why you are on here is beyond my comprehension, all you do is moan and try to get posts closed down. All you seem to do is try to get threads closed down.

Reporting posts? I haven't reported a single post in about... 5 years?
Me? Get threads closed down? :laugh2: Are you fecking serious? :joker:
As for trolling, 90% of my posts aren't slagging other posters off so take from that what you will.

Yes this. I just cannot understand people who pick a fave then spend the series excusing every little thing they do and making out they are ****ing god or something  So many do that though..
I don't even have any faves this year, I don't much like any of them D:

I like the people that make me laugh and entertain me.
The people I don't like make it interesting as well. I guess I am just a people watcher.
The age division isn't true in my case, I am way over 40, but like the fun loving younger ones in the house as they entertain.
It's a game show, I enjoy it, but once it finishes I don't really give it much thought until the next series and can hardly remember anyone by name.

I always usually get drawn to a housemate and while seeing faults in them, will overlook non serious ones and defend them.
On here in 2010 when I joined because of BB, Ben was my favourite.
He got loads of attack and stick on here but I stood up for him with many others.
I like to choose a favourite, very rarely do any if mine from the start of the series go on to win.
Aaron was the first on here I supported who did.
I like housemates who are not intentionally malicious,I don't mind mischievous activity and winding up.
I hate with a passion the showmance brigade however and would turn strongly against housemates boring near all with under the duvet rubbish.
Otherwise I will comment on others while supporting any favourite I have come to feel any connection too.
I actually find TIBB easier now than when I first joined as to BB.
Some of the battles and fiery exchanges in Ben's year were far more ferocious in content than now.
Particularly in relation to difficulties between Ben and John James in that year.

I remember it well Joey, I loved Ben,he was so funny at times,he got evicted far too early, and crab eyes (John James) is my most disliked housemate of all time, we fought our corner well.:wavey:

I find that I don't usually find hm's that i like enough to call a fav but deffo do find ones I don't like.
I tend not to like the moany, depressing or bitchy ones.I seem to like the ones who have a laugh and smile more.
I like Ellie and i like Chanelle usually as she makes me laugh,I also like Tom.
At the start I thought Deborah would be my fav from her VT but she disappointed me.
Can't stand Issabelle. She just seems so bitter and unaware and abit gormless and orange.I'm up and down with Raph.Kieran seems ok but abit of a pussy. Not keen on Hannah she seems to want to be some kind of victim.Joe is ok mostly but gets too moody.

It was all quite vicious I recall a lot of the time.
Really enjoyed it however.

You're so contradictory...you have made a thread labelling certain generations as all the same which in itself is baffling and go on to insult members who dare disagree with your opinion.

It is strange this year because I normally like the outsider crew don't hate me for saying this but this year I prefer the cool kids as Lotan was my favourite but also really liked Rebecca Kayleigh and Mandy. Now with them I am supporting Tom, Ellie, Charlotte and Kieran.
Ones I don't like are Raph, Chanelle, Isabelle, Deborah and Hannah

In a general sense... overall I like the people that don't have to be the center of attention and can be chill yet entertaining/funny/etc. in simple ways. To add, people who can have a disagreement without FLIPPING THE **** OUT (even if this is sometimes funny to me too). But... See: Kieran & Savannah having an argument by the peace tree that one episode and quickly resolving their issue and realizing it's nothing serious. Don't see: Chanelle ever. But specific example: Chanelle flipping out at Hannah and Raph for getting offended at something she said.
The only center of attention people that I sometimes like are ones who are actually capable of being funny. See: Paul in BBUS18 (none of the BBUK houseguests fit that)... maybe Sukhvinder on this show but I didn't necessarily see her as the center of attention type of person.
