He was good friends with both Arthur and Imran. Raph as he said in the DR isn't a 'lads lad', he doesn't car for lad culture and prefers intelligent conversations. Therefore he didn't get on that well with Joe/Kieran/Tom who have almost no knowledge or smarts about them and were 'lad lads'. However he did get on with the other guys, It was just unfortunate luck Arthur and Imran went so soon. That only left girls in the house who either had similar interests or were there for intelligent conversation. Raph could talk to the sisters/Sukvinder about the world in general and actual conversation and he must have had similar interests with Chanelle/Issy. It's just by chance many of the females this year were more similar and that all the non lads would be evicted/ejected so soon.

I found Joe made a lot of sense on BOTS and during his interview. We only see like an hour of edited footage. It's was pretty obvious Arthur was being an absolutely twat to eveyone in the house on purpose and people avoided him for it. Stop making out like Raph is just a sweet guy helping Arthur out when it was likely a combination of Arthur being an easy person for Raph to befriend since he was excluded, and because Raph probably knew the public liked Arthur winding everyone up.
