No rumours have said it will be - just speculation. In my opinion, they've held off doing so because it could be a ratings killer (Maybe not this series, but the format since the show started on C5 has safely secured decent enough viewer numbers for C5 - maybe not the franchise, although CBB15's 3m average rivals some C4 series, for example), especially if they believe people were getting tired of the format in C4's day, hence the decline in viewership (although that was for other reasons which Cal highlighted perfectly in a post I can't find sadly :( )
This series has consistently went under 1 million views. I'm not sure how good this compares to other C5 shows, but this is substandard even by C5 BB standards. With the show possibly being axed and 2018 possibly being the last year, would they gamble and introduce a C4-style for the last series? (Even just for UBB2 - if they do do one.) I mean, ratings are terrible as is, and the C4 edit will be fresh to new viewers and people who haven't seen the C4 series for years, and maybe entice some viewers who lost interest in 2011.
The only major issue is the live feed. I doubt many casual viewers would subscribe to it and it really hinders the manipulation C5 BB is known for.
Promo would have to calm down - while I enjoyed BB18's (I'd say it's the best we had in years), CBB20's is terrible imo. The Big Brother themetune playing with the eye over the house, teasing it with subtle edits (obviously difficult for summer CBB, but yeah) is certainly a better teaser than golden CBB on a pool). I think the simplicity of it returning to C4 series would get more attention anyway - people will hear the iconic tune, look up, and be enticed by what the house may look like (or not, but it's more interesting than "HIT IT MARCUS!") and gain interest from there. It'd certainly stand out from the OTT ads that fill TV nowadays.
Besides that, I doubt it'd take much. Tone down Marcus, have less twists (especially regarding nominations and evictions), STOP INCLUDING RANDOM PIECES OF MUSIC DURING CONVERSATIONS ( :fist: ), try and get an even mix of everyone (Nic saying she "obviously" gives Raph immunity when their interactions weren't shown at all - and Tom going for a Brain Scan? With Kieran apparently accompanying him? Why weren't we told? Not exactly essential but it'd be nice), make the house more annoying to live in (the split bedrooms were great, but maybe mix up were the furniture is and make it more claustrophobic to rile up the housemates - it'd be better to watch than BB telling housemates people think they're two faced or whatever), limit outside information, and tone down the edit.
I kinda don't want to say this after clear manipulation saved Issy and gave us the best C5 winner ever, but we shouldn't have any manipulation from producers... or if so make it subtle and seem like they planned it from the start, not just midweek.
Tl;dr next Civillian series could be the last series, Ben Frow and fans (I wouldnt say a lot, but I've seen many on here and on Facebook and Twitter agree) want it (Emma's hinted that she'd like a return to the C4 era, too), the biggest changes would be the editing and promo, live feed (they've said they wouldnt introduce it back and it'd certainly ruin how much they could manipulate) and given how ratings are already a shambles, only change to something shown to be popular could possibly save it, even if it's a gamble and may break it. ("Make or break" heu heu heu)
