I think I'm going to attempt watching all the BBUK seasons like I did with Survivor. I figure this time I'll make my own thread too since it's a lot of seasons to get through and it's also a better way to avoid spoilers.

Oh no.

BB1 is actually great and holds up suuuuuper well, especially the first half. It's super quick to watch too. It's an important milestone like Borneo is in Survivor.

I'm not expecting that to be a selling point considering we were just going back and forth about ****ing Sue Hawk but hey, I made my bitch. This is my truth.

I've not seen the early series so I can't comment on those but my personal recommendation would be that you at least start with one from the ~golden era~, so 5, 6 or 7. Pretty much the entire fandom considers BBUK to be at its peak (production/quality wise) through those years so! You should definitely watch a C4 series before anymore C5 ones, that's for sure :laugh:

Every series from BB6-onwards feels modern and holds up pretty well imo. BB1-4 are the old school series and they do feel somewhat dated, but I'd still recommend BB1 and BB3, especially 3. Avoid BB4.

I'd agree with starting with one of the golden era series first though, as you might find BB1 a bit boring.

There's Ultimate Big Brother, which was our version of All Stars, although it was only three weeks long and it aired as a special before C4 axed the show. Returnees aren't really a big thing in BBUK as they are in BBUS. :laugh:

They did one called Ultimate Big Brother when the show came to an end on C4, the winner of BB11 (the last civilian series) was immediately sent back into the house and then they filled it with both ex-civilian and celebrity housemates. It lasted 18 days and is IMO quite an underrated series

The only time there's been returnees since is for tasks/twists, and for an All Stars/New Stars series of CBB the January just gone

Great choice with BB5, I think you'd really enjoy that one. It has an intense house divide, an overall likable cast with everyone contributing and there's quite a bit of gameplay too, which is ideal for someone who's used to the BBUS format.

And for whatever my two cents are worth (probably nothing), I think that BB1 is a much much better springboard into old school BBUK than BB3 is.

Great choice with BB5, I think you'd really enjoy that one. It has an intense house divide, an overall likable cast with everyone contributing and there's quite a bit of gameplay too, which is ideal for someone who's used to the BBUS format.

Emma began hosting the main show in 2013. Davina was the host during the C4 years. She's great though, better than Emma. You'll get used to her, she's hilarious.

And lmao Ahmed (a refugee who hates gays) being thrown in after Marco (a homosexual who hates refugees) was the moment that actually got me into BBUK. :love: The casting during those series were way better than what we get now because they just put in a bunch of strong, unique personalities that were guaranteed to clash.

My personal favourites are BB12 and BB10, but honestly all of the series from BB9-BB14 are good tbh.
Confirmed excited for BB10 & BB12 then. :clap1: I guess I won't skip BB10 even if it has some spoilers for seasons 1-4 in their challenges twist.

5, 6, and 7 are the golden series of BBUK. :love: Other good channel 4 series are BB8 and BB9. I've never seen BB3 but it's supposed to be really good as well. The best Channel 5 series is BB13.

BB5 (an amazing series to start with)
BB13 (love it. A lot of BBUS style game playing so I think you'll enjoy her @JerseyWins)

BB16 (trash. I don't want to give away too much incase you watch it but the housemates are basically extras in their own series.)
BB4 (DEATHLY boring. Had to give up after about 15 eps. Literally nothing happens. The show itself takes the piss out of it all the time and it's known as BB Bore)

Davina is a great host btw, they should've kept her.

Interesting, I don't really dislike anyone so far so I can't even pinpoint who my least favorite is right now. Although I also don't have much of an opinion on a decent amount of people. Victor is my fav at the moment (That's So Reece) but there are a couple of others who are close too. :clap1:

Might try to do a cast ranking soon or leaning towards waiting for 1 or 2 more episodes.

Davina is the original Big Mother :flutter: they did offer her the job on C5 but in her own words she'd already said her goodbyes (they did a whole VT dedicated to her on the night of the UBB finale) and wanted to move on, they gave the job to a former housemate before Emma replaced him two years into his tenure :joker:

BB11 was a good series that was totally ruined in the last week by what remains the worst production decision of all time. Had we been given the unpredictable final we deserved I'd still see it in a good light, it just completely soured everything for me

I'm so glad Victor is one of the people getting the most DR's because his DR's are so blunt/direct and just out there. Either straight to the point or a funny little comment. :joker: His DR's feel so REAL even if a few are a bit much. :joker:

This felt like a MAJOR filler episode (which happens a lot with BBUK from my little experience so far but I think that's just more of the style for what comes with the format). Still, a few funny moments in there. :joker: Also the episode was a lot shorter so that was good.

BB5 was so easy, I found it on youtube instantly. :joker: Much easier than my search for watching Survivor seasons lol.

This was CBB1, I don't think BB1 is on youtube now :( If you do find it though I'd recommend it personally, very underrated, some great housemates, a very different type of show to what it is today though so it's hard to say if you'd enjoy it. It's worth giving it a go though.

CBB2 was so bad. I'd even go on to say the worst ever somehow beating BB4. It was just diabolical.

And CBB8/11/18 and BB15/16 and sorry... 18, were bad too.

With 12, the series in general was poor, but it had Aaron, and unless you were an Aaron fan, you'd hate it. He's my fave ever HM.

Episodes 4-6 have been really boring tbh. Luckily they've all been 25 minute episodes so not the toughest thing to get through but I'm waiting for things to pick up now. A pretty large amount of characters have been very irrelevant too.

Also, I'm pretty sure there's a segment dedicated to Daniel rubbing lotion on Jason every episode?

BB6 starts off with a bang and never loses momentum in its full 78 days mind due to the best cast ever and Makosi is a great game player too you should have started with that!

Have you seen any of Frankie Grande on CBB Jersey? CBB18 is really quite terrible but it has rootable characters and the American Trio of Frankie Grande, Renee Graziano and Aubrey O'Day is truly iconic.

Also also the fact Ariana Grande sent in a video message that was played into the house and everyone was shook that they managed to get a current A-List Pop Star to appear on CBB in some way or another :joker:

I like a good amount of the cast, some amazing & some just ok, and I don't really find anyone horrible. I keep mentioning the ones I like most because they're full of highlights lol but a couple people that I don't care for atm: Not sure on Austin but he was pretty annoying this past episode, Bianca is a bit boring/bland, Angie is ehh but not that bad, thought she would be worse based on like the first highlight show. Callum is pretty blegh as well... seems like a good guy as I suspected but I thought he'd be better. Brandon is almost literally invisible. Nicola is maybe like a step above in invisibility and she's one of the All Stars so that's shocking. :think: I know/think that her & Kim get into it so I guess she gets more relevant later. :joker: James Jordan rubs me the wrong way a tiny bit for some reason (it's very minor but consistent). The rest are quality characters in one way or another but Speidi is still supreme to me. :clap2:

I'd definitely watch more right now but I'm tired though. I'll probably try my first full cast rankings after I watch another episode.

The thing I don't like about Austin is that he's cocky and confrontational (which I don't care about necessarily but he does it pretty annoyingly). However, the worst thing for me is that then he's a baby when things don't go his own way. If he was legitimately a nicer guy I'd maybe feel sympathetic towards him or if he owned the way he is (like Spencer for example) then I could respect him more at least. He's either serious or emotional for the most part too which meh.

That's because it aired in January.

Here in the UK we have 3 seasons a year: two celebrity and a civilian.

The first celebrity season airs in January and is the highest rated in terms of number of viewers. The second one is the civilian and airs in early summer and is the lowest rated. The third one is another celebrity season and airs in late summer and is the middle rated.

So the one in January always has more of a buzz about it.

I do get you but the way they're done changes every round now and it's not as if the public vote is even a regular thing anymore. Since BB15 they've had regular housemate eviction votes etc.

I still prefer the BBUS format of the houseguests deciding everything (plus I like the idea of competitions like HOH & POV saving you if the rest of the house don't like you).. But I've warmed to this format, I like it as well. :clap1:

This was me before this year but the opposite way round. I proper hated the US/Canada format but I love it just as much as the UK one now.
