What was your favourite era of BBUK?

So there are about 6 eras of BBUK:

Social Experiment (BB1-4)
The Peak (BB5-7)
Decline Era (BB8-11)
TOWIE Style (BB12/13)
Themed Series (BB14-16)
Modern Day BB (BB17/18)

And I’m removing BB5-7 in the poll bc that would win by a mile, so what is your favourite era x

I'd say there are three eras:

Series 1-4,
Later C4 BB5-11
and C5 B12 -18.

Definitely C5 is one, as the series are pretty indistinguishable from one another.

BB1/2 weren’t bad series, BB3 was good and BB4 was the worst ever so it’s automatically not that

The Decline Era is all lumped together for me, none really stand out:shrug:also BB8/11 were kinda trash so nope

TOWIE Style has one bad series, and one okay series

Themed has BB14 which is good, but then BB15/16 which are bottom 5 series so

Modern Day has a good series and my favourite ever so it’s that for me. I know it’s not exactly fair as it’s only had two series whereas some other options have 4 series but whatever x

The 'social experiment' era (but I'd extend it beyond BB4 tbh). It was more natural and less trashy, I don't really watch Big Brother for 'entertainment' (or at least what tends to be considered entertainment in BB these days), I felt like I was watching real people react to real situations and that's what interested me about it, whereas nowadays I feel more like I'm watching a TV show that's trying to shock me, or grab my attention with stunts, or just generally patronise me. I don't even particularly like BB2 and I really don't like BB4 but if I had to pick an era or a 'type' of BB it would be that.

Didn't watch 1-4 so can't judge tbh.
Decline era 8-11: Tbh I enjoyed. 11 was the only one I'd say was well below average.
TOWIE era: Erm 12 what even was that? But 13 was great.
Themed era: S&L's was good, PT was not good but suppose at least kept the theme throughout. Don't like how every twist was called a TB twist. Was just a twist tbh. Was good until 4in4out.
Modern day BB era: FAB! Loved both series, but that may be due to the fact that the previous ones were so awful.

Decline era wins for me, with Modern era not far behind

I've picked social experiment. Especially on the casting. Casting as they picked normal people with huge personalities, but are not too outrageous, which helps us to relate to them better compared to BB5 onwards...Would've picked the Peak Era though. Matter of fact, with the exception of Series 11, all of the Decline Era series were actually quite good. As for Towie, I liked it because it still had some elements of old BB, (like normal nominations most of the time)...for the themed series, they were a bit OTT, Series 14 had decent casting and was overall a good series, though some parts were really boring. As for modern day BB, I've enjoyed it so far, the casting and the storylines wwre all great. I think the pixie dust that modern day BB needs is to increase the length, (and if that does not happen), at least bring back the live feeds...

I agree, Love Island smashed it this year! Though it wasn't just Love Island that was the the fall of BB's ratings. The scheduling this year was horrific. However, LI should have stuck to 9-10, and let BB take over afterwards, but most LI episodes ran until 10:20 which pretty much sealed BB's fate.

BB18 and BB10 were meant to have the most diverse casts, also the lowest rated
I wonder if BB19 continues the trend, and will it be the last like BB11?

I genuinely think next year they need to cast normal people. I actually don’t mind the reality stars like Chanelle/Lateysha etc. But when people saw who went in they said they wouldn’t be watching it bc there weren’t any normal people, so yeah they need to change thatt

I can only really say the modern era because they're the only series I've properly watched.

Weirdly, I'd say the decline era. BB8 got such a but reputation but I remember being so addicted round about that time, right through til BB11, so to me when I think of BB I'll always think of those ones.

The last acceptable one for me was BB14, which was the most like the decent ones but I don't think we'll ever get a 'good' series of Big Brother again sadly.
