What do we want for next summers series?
I was thinking because this year was the theme of couples what if BB19 was just for singles people?

Literally every other year has single housemates.
And if you meant couples as in romantically involved couples then (1) Deborah and Hannah, or Charlotte and Mandy are most certainly NOT in a replationship and, (2) having just single people would force more of a relationship focused edit down of necks and we don't need that

Back to Basic format. Limited to no twists. Normal nominations. Live feed. More promotion. A 71 day series length. And most importantly no contact with the outdie world. This is what the fans want, which C5 obviously doesn't listen to...

I agree Eddie and more likeable, funny, witty characters but with one or two knobheads thrown into the mix!

That's the most unoriginal post ive ever come across sorry no offence. It's allways been singles Barr a few and even the couple theme only featured a few couples anyway.

I think they meant "single" relationship status.
But that's all a bit Love Island at the moment.

16 dogs. Actual dogs. I want them to nominate by whoever they bark at the most. The public chanting "GET SPIKE OUT" whilst a poor Alsatian cowers under the kitchen table and is evicted to boos.

:joker:
I want the theme to be Channel 5 shutting down so it is cut part way through the broadcasting day by white noise, abruptly ending Big Brother and the rerun of whatever ‘On benefits and in benidorm’ show is on 5Star

"Well that's your next Brantsteele sorted": a comment I'd make at this point if Brantsteele was still a site that existed and that people used

No offence taken. Thank you for your most unoriginal response :hee:

Think they have ran out of ideas tbh so maybe have a bb6 and bb7 reunion instead

A decent respectful homage to BB as a farewell series.

Let's face it there is no going "back to basics" and even if they did try reality TV has changed too much over the years there's no going back to simple tasks and decent average joe's living in a house...
There are however some basic principals that I can say that may slightly improve things...
Consistency: Twists are a great way to keep a format from growing stale however they should be used sparingly... As we've seen in the past a series built on gimmicks or too many inconsistencies will isolate viewers... BBUS has been successful for years because the format is Consistent... Going in to a series we know each week that there will be an HoH, PoV, and a HM will be evicted... They are pretty solid on how things are going to happen and they rarely deviate from that process... Most twists also take in to account there ridged scared elements... I'm not saying that BBUK needs maintain this kind of rigidity from year to year but at least maintain some sort of consistency over the course of the active series...
No contact from the outside world: This was at one point a very key element of BB... So far I've yet to see a single twist that has honestly added any significant amount of entertainment value that has violated this key element... There is no need for outside interference in BB... I'm willing to look past special provisions in the CBB format as I really only consider those series a bit of fluff between the main show. That said if they are going to allow these things they need to be upfront and honest about it.
Clear process for Nominations/Evictions: This goes back to my first point of Consistency... It's ok to switch things up every now and again but not on a weekly basis... The process should basically work the same from week to week... I'll allow for certain deviations in the case of twists but overall HM's and viewers should expect the same type of nominations and evictions to take place from week to week.
Engagement: This used to be one of the biggest selling points of BB... When it's done right NO other show has come close to the unprecedented level of engagement BB allows... Public voting is only a single element of public engagement and Channel 5 have really been doing a piss poor job on everything else that viewer engagement entails... Channel 5 MUST bring back some level of HM surveillance for BB to survive... Also if you're going to include public voting in other elements of the show there needs to be an element of Consistency and not just a flash vote via the BB app whenever it's convenient.
Tasks and/or Competitions : I'd like to see a return to the days of old where HM's actually divided up the rolls among themselves... This is much more dramatic than simply having BB decide... Let's also limit the number of tasks that deal with gross food, dumping goo on HM's, and the who said/did what style tasks... We could even go as far as going back to the HM's gambling on part of the task rather than just winning a luxury or stables food budget... Also let's bring back a level of fun with the tasks... Not just fun for the HM's... But fun for us to watch as well...
Casting: Stop building casts around potential conflict... I think it would be refreshing to see a cast that actually like each other for once... Conflict will happen naturally when you put a group of people together regardless... I know production are not likely to revert back to an average Joe style of casting but that doesn't mean they can't cast people that aren't likable, aren't at each others throats every five seconds, and can have a bit of fun together... Take the token bitch and the token asshole out of the casting equation and let those roles fall as they will... They will happen naturally... Overall let's cast fun and exciting people with a decent story to tell and see where things go...
Themes: If we need a theme let's pick a theme that can last the entire series... Going back to Consistency we don't need twist per-say around every corner but a decent theme can be worked in to virtually every aspect of the show... Let's take a look at the theme of Temptation... They could work temptation in to the weekly tasks, a temptation could play a roll in the nominations process, a temptation could be worked in to virtually anything as long as it's consistent and the foundation behind it is clearly laid out.... A theme should leave a lasting impression on the series and not just an excuse for producer interference or the first week or few weeks of the series...
Evolution I'd also like to see the format evolve... As I've said the American format has remained relatively popular due to the fact that it is Consistent... That said in recent years they have been more than willing to experiment with new ideas... BBCAN has pretty much broke the mold when it has come to an American style format and really put their own stamp on things... BBUK used to be a ground breaker when it came to the international format but seems as of late to be rehashing the same ideas over and over again... Or is so out of touch that it's hemorrhaging viewers... Even if it is baby steps or rehashing ideas from other countries BBUK really needs to start moving forward again... Even if it is only a points style nominations procedure we really need to break out of the mold of what is expected of this show... Also try and plan things so that they can be a part of the format in the long term and not just a series by series basis... There is a reason why I talked about Consistency as a first point... We love new ideas and new twists but we also like to see how things evolve and take shape over time... Again the American format has survived and remains popular year in and year out because every series is an evolution of the next and it's Consistent... Not everything will work the first time around but there are adjustments that can be made along the way...
Eddie.

:clap1: good read Kingston!
I'd love to see a Back To Basic format return for just 1 series. This could potentially be the last series for a while, due to the contract expiring and it would be nice to go back to how it was before Viacom took over: no models, your average Joe Bloggs from down in Kent, housemates talking about the shopping list together, normal tasks and even the chickens!

I just think no contact with the outside world and if someone breaks a rule they are automatically put up for eviction. Simple as that. And I want housemates who have not been on TV or claim they are "bezzy mates" with a celebrity.
Eddie.

the chickens would probably receive Ofcom complaints if they were brought back...

I experimented with a format I would like on Wikipedia. I didn’t save it! But have a look at these screenshots and tell me what you think.

I cant really take much from a screenshot of the elimination order. An actual rundown of what happened would be more useful.

Do you mean that you can’t see the screenshots? In that case, this follows a Day 11-18-25 eviction format, with a double eviction on Day 68, and the final on Day 70, which would be a Sunday final!

I can see the screenshots but to see how the series played out would be good.

What this series really needs - less housemates. BB18 was overcrowded and the amount of backdoor evictions was ridiculous. 14 housemates and let it roll.

To add,
We need diverse casts, something like BB13-BB14 and BB18...
Also no more secret rooms, it's been overdone already...
