Perfectly good reason to ban him, yes, BUT the reason there's a question mark is that there are plenty of people guilty of this who are still posting away... and frankly, as bad as Truth was, I wouldn't say he was even in the top 5 worst. So why, specifically, was Truth made "the example" and permabanned? And without it being an ongoing policy of permabanning people guilty of what you describe?

Again I have to go back to the two possibilities: 1) he pissed off the wrong people on the wrong day or 2) his major issue generally was misogyny and that's considered by staff to be "a worse crime" (or rather, something they can't deal with seeing) MORE than other similar offenses, and the "reasoning" for the permaban was cobbled together after the decision was already made.

But in rare cases if people do something super seriously disrespectful, which I can't think what something like that would be, then sure I guess they should be permabanned and yes it should be monitored that they aren't returning.

Even then, they should be allowed an opportunity to return after a while anyway so I personally don't care if banned members make a return with another account.

Just saying but I liked MMI when he was banned under that name and was friendly with DouglasS before what happened in the pub quiz so me bringing him up is nothing about old bad feelings just a good example of the point I was making.

I just find it odd some people are 'indefinitely' banned and their multis banned instantly when they were relatively harmless (gamepodfan, johnny123) when somebody who was allowed back in all good faith and clearly showed they were back simply to disrupt is allowed their...what? 3rd return?

OR if you have two computers and one of them is always on a constantly shifting VPN. That probably throws up some really bizarre IP addresses for me :joker:. "WTF why is Toy Soldier in Kazakhstan :think: ".

(Though I tend not to use the Secret Squirrel PC for things like TiBB)


OR if you want to get really pedestrian; you can just have two Chrome instances running on the same computer and have one of them going through a free VPN like hidemyass or whatever.

Yep,totally agree here Jet there definately are certain people who think THEY own the forum and know better than everyone else and how it should be run, some banned members who are genuinely sorry for what they were banned for should be allowed back,and why dont some people want banned members allowed back? maybe because those members challenged their opinions !! Stacey for example I don't think has ever denied she's back on the forum, but she has been remorseful and I'm sure most people would agree, has integrated herself well again.

Stacey's an excellent example of this, I despised her as a member the first time around but after her permaban she went away, grew up and made her case when she asked to come back and we couldn't really find a fair reason to say no and she's shown that allowing her to come back was the right decision.

Previously banned members have been allowed to return and haven’t changed, clearly there’s no “probation period” because of there was most of them would have failed.

I’m sure mods do discuss letting members back onto the site, but at the same time, once said members are back, the probability of them being repermabanned is slim to none

I actually think it can be cliquey but not even in the sense of people liking or supporting each other... it's just an old forum with a small userbase and a lot of people who have been here for a long time and have "history". It's basically one massive "clique" to anyone outside of it but pretty much everyone INSIDE the clique argues all the time & lowkey hates each other. But like if some other rival forum turned up and gave anyone a hard time, everyone would band together like "HEY! You leave that TiBBer alone! Only TiBB folks is allowed to insult other TiBB folks :fist:"

Also there's another separate clique that goes in Chat and that Private thread but we don't like to think about them too much.

I just find it odd some people are 'indefinitely' banned and their multis banned instantly when they were relatively harmless (gamepodfan, johnny123) when somebody who was allowed back in all good faith and clearly showed they were back simply to disrupt is allowed their...what? 3rd return?

Johnny would regularly insult members, and the truth is super old fashioned with his views on females in general, so I doubt people would people be as warm to welcome them back... but people can change, it just depends if they have or not.

I think previously banned members should probably be on a stricter infraction system for the first few months, and have a genuine apology prepared.
