Looks like they might be planning Big Brothers 20th anniversary :D

IIRC they asked for an extension around July 2010 too, just under a year before the C5 deal was announced
So this could be promising (if you want the show renewed of course)

Good news I think but someone on Twitter just said it could be to accommodate Summer CBB since BB19 is launching later

Its Renewed until next September, so they could potentially air three more seasons next year (2 CBB 1 BB)
This could just be a way of reducing the pressure for Channel 5 so they’ve got more leg room to air the next series. As it stands, the house has to be demolished by the end of September :joker:
Marsh.
14-05-2018, 02:53 PM
Doesn't mean much.
They renewed it in 2010 when BB went off the air for almost 12 months.
It's just Endemol securing the site if the show is renewed. No point letting the lease go, demolishing the house and then channel 5 deciding to give it another go.

BB20 will be an all stars last series dealy then
Greg!

This at least means BB19 will launch after LI is finished which is good

Li isn’t the reason why it doesn’t get the ratings, CBB21 proved it.

Yeah it doesn’t mean much.
They are making BB19 late which could see the final at the end of august or the start of september and then they have CBB22 to do which will go over the house deadline.

I understand the reasoning that this may be just to extend this years series, but then why would they do so for an entire year as opposed to another month? Are they required to do renewals only on an annual basis?
Marsh.

Perhaps.
The last lease renewal was a 5 year one in 2013 so it is peculiar that they’ve only gone fore 1 year.
Doesn't mean much... I'm sure they can un-reserve/reuse it later. (or use the property for another project/liquidation/storage)

It has 2 obvious aims:
1. So this year's series (BB/CBB) can start later (which we know is the case) and continue after September 30th.
2. To allow the house structure to remain standing for another year whilst Endemol secure a transmission deal with C5 or another broadcaster. Otherwise they would be negotiating with extra cash needed to build a new house from the ground up.

This has been rejected for being ‘unsuitable’ lmao

Mirro and daily star...
... I'm sure they would keep trying though
Maybe there's a good reason...
1. maybe they put in plans to create a bigger house.
2. Maybe they were hoping to added a second floor.
3. Maybe they wanted to add an indoor studio at the back..
4. Maybe they got the dimensions on the diagram wrong... That may sound silly but planning people are fussy... I studied interior disign and I heard a plan got rejected becuase someone use there masuesements in meters not squade foot...

I thought the application was just a one year extension of the existing plan. Nothing extra.
The Daily Star's "source" is being overly dramatic.

They should have just done the launch in June because it isn't Love Island that's making their ratings flop and they are on at different times.

I don't know... If if was just an extension then I can't see why they would reject it due to it being 'unsuitable'.. Eg if it was suitable 5 years ago why would it not be suitable now... Unless they want to change things...
Marsh.
24-05-2018, 04:18 PM
Probably because they're asking to retain the house without any plans in place to continue airing the show after this year so Elstree want their goddamn studio space back.

24-05-2018, 04:58 PM
Just seen BB spy twitter... It was not rejected just returned... The difference is big as returned just means that they need to make some changes... But the changes could have nothing to do with the plan but could be to do with paper work...
I've sumied a planning permision before and yes the people dealing with it are very perticulla and pick up on every little inaccuracy...
But booooo... I was hopping for a bigger house... One that could include a room for the amarican BB house mates to visit and stay in... Ohh well.. I guess that would have to just stay as a fictional drama in my head.

Speculation is that in 2016 an extension was added but the plan that they put forth in hope of getting another year of permission was the plan of 2011/12... So a plan that is different to the current 2016 plan... Hence why there plan is unsuitable
supertv247
24-05-2018, 05:59 PM
Yeah apparently they submitted to extend the plan they submitted in 2011 and therefore didn’t mention all the work from 2016  so they’ll need to resubmit and include all that too
Isn't it crazy how that's still the same house, in the same location and studio?
I could have sworn they either torn down the house sometime before BB9, or moved houses when it went to Channel 5.
Nope, that's still the same house. Wow.
Marsh.

They tore it down and rebuilt it prior to BB9 but it's still essentially the same shell.

Everyone needs to stop panicking, the wording of all this is just semantics . We've already been told that the original submission was done improperly, so the fact that it was withdrawn at Endemols request is probably consistent with the fact that it was erroneous. Everyone is so hungry for the tiniest bit of news that it all gets blown out of proportion.

That bit was speculation. The Daily Star Online claimed that:
...a rep for the council said: "The plans have been returned to the applicant.
"They have been rejected, it wasn't suitable."
That's not true if Endemol requested they be returned. Endemol want to change them, either with different dates, a different location not in Hertsmere, structural changes to the site or operational changes regarding the running of the actual show (e.g. number and timings of live eviction shows). If it was just the wrong set of plans submitted the correct set would have been popped in the post by now.
