Report: CBB to air before BBUK in August

UPDATE:

According to the latest reports, Celebrity Big Brother will instead begin the season in 'mid-August', followed by Big Brother in the autumn.

“We delayed everything until Love Island is out of the way," a source told the Daily Star newspaper. "Then fans will be ready for us. We'd usually start with a regular series but we're launching with all guns blazing with celebrities."

Reports suggest CBB will begin mid August, a few weeks after Love Island, then civilian BB will begin in September soon afterwards.

This is so ****. BBUK is supposed to be the main show, and CBB the spin-off. Now BBUK is gonna have the hash bash repainted house, no promotion, no unique twist, nothing new to it. Nobody will be excited for it. I genuinely can’t be bothered with more CBB yet my excitement for BBUK was quite high for the first time in a while and this just sh*ts all over it

CBB was the flagship show until they over exposed it. Last year’s summer CBB averaged 1.8 million which is less then BBUK could manage just a few years ago. Even January’s CBB has fell from 3.1 to 1.9 million. BBUK has lost just 200k over the last 6 YEARS in comparison, so is obviously the much more consistent and reliable show. If they put in the effort to bbuk, they could’ve easily made this next series special and it manage the same rating as CBB will likely get (but for longer).

The one good thing about bbuk being in September is that students can talk about in in-between classes... That's good to help spread the word and get people to watch it so that students can talk about it amuonst themselves..

I really can't be arsed with three CBBs in a row but it makes sense from a business perspective. CBB will get more ratings than a normal summer BBUK would've, which improves it's chances of getting renewed or picked up by another channel. It also provides more promo to the normal version than usual

I have a theory as to why they'd have CBB air first... If Channel 5 are planning to renew BB and they plan on still airing CBB in the traditional January slot it doesn't make sense to air two CBB series with only a few weeks break... If the rumors of a late to mid August premiere are true it's easier to air "back to back" celebrity series with a 6 month gap in-between...

Civilian Bb will air when the new BARB system is put into place so it will get more viewers (well it should) and it's on when it's colder so more people inside. Promoting BB throughout CBB (which is usually more watched) can only be a good thing, no? Sure it didn't really work properly in 2011 but still.
