Love island has a massive diversity issue
1:lack of none Caucasian females apart from Samira and Kaz this series the females are all Caucasian which I think is unfair the show should have more female ethnics except making it white female dominated
2:I think the show should include people who are plus sized Male and female people who do not look like super models like they do on the show the reason is because at the end of the day you don’t have to have a six pack or look like a super star to find or get love which is one thing the show is missing
3: I know series two had two females who were coupled up (Rip Sophie) I think the show diversed couples for Male and female gay,Lesbian, bisexual is needed cause at the end of the day it is 2018 and this is coming from a straight Male
At the end of the This is my opinion what do you guys think?

yes i think a more diverse cast would've been a bit more lovely
and also more diverse in terms of lesbian/gay couples for the LGBT representation on Love Island
so i agree Owoaje

People are quick to point out your second option but the show wouldn't work without it. But let's all be honest here - Supermodel Sarah from a rich part of London isn't going to step forward for Obese Oliver from a Council estate in Birmingham is she.
Nothing about the show says that you have to be good looking to find love. Yes that's what counts in the first impressions but if it was based on looks then you could probably guarantee that Adam would still be in and I'm sure all of the girls have said they're attracted to him. But they learned his ways and kicked him out.

No one cares about diversity its the producers job to get the viewers and the more white chicks the more viewers in the UK
do the math

It's a massive issue that hopefully will be addressed in the casting next year.
The spin-off show Survival of the Fittest managed to have 3 black women, a mixed race guy and a bisexual black man on the show and there were open discussions about weaves and insecurities about their partner seeing them without a wig etc. so it's not like they're not capable of tackling more diverse discussions and castings

These three are the main reasons why I don’t watch LI...

I see your point but LI isn't about that...it's full of shallow egotistical people showing off their 'supreme' bodies and testing their pulling power. It's all playground stuff on who fancies who and fancying anyone who wants them for the sake of staying on the show and getting maximum publicity.
If anything BB is the show to give us diversity and a better understanding of different cultures and life choices...not Love Island

In ALL honesty i don't see how LGBT+ members would work, but maybe they could find a way.
I think they do need diversity, but then they will run into the problem they had this year with Samira. Have their token woman of colour, but then send in boys with no interest. As horrid as it sounds the reality is the shallow contestants they send in would be looking for the skinny insta girls unlike plus size women and men.
Idk they one hundred percent should, but IMO in this moment it would back fire, with these more diverse islanders feeling more self conscious and highlighting that they aren't wanted in there

I'm not looking for a 'better understanding of different cultures and life choices', I'm look for better and more equal representation in its casting choices.

I think they should let people who haven’t got six packs and don’t look like super models cause if they did it would help Male and females confidence and prove that their is still a chance for them to find love no matter the size

But a large portion of the format depends on that. On Day 1 they literally have to couple up based on looks. The show has also never claimed to cast normal people with normal jobs - it's always been billed as 'sexy singles looking for love this summer'.
No one is saying the Average Joe types can't find love on tv, or All together, and there's so many shows they they can do.
If they just had 7 straight people and 7 LGBT people it could definitely work, and keep sending in newbies like they always do. Unfortunately I don't see it happening as their core audience is definitely more heterosexual but you never know

They put on what will get viewing figs. Its not hard to understand. They dont give a fck about diversity unless it adds viewers
Its not public service broadcasting

I agree 100% on all we need more racially diverse contestants at least and here for some queer contestants doubt its gonna work though since the demographic who watch love island are dumbasses

you can have all of that with a more diverse cast (an no throwing in 5 mixed race guys is NOT diverse) and it would probably be made more interesting if we had some bisexual islanders....

I'm not looking for a 'better understanding of different cultures and life choices', I'm look for better and more equal representation in its casting choices.
But you keep mentioning as an example people discussing weaves etc and understanding different situations that come with different cultures and races...that's not what people watch LI for...
I do agree with diversity...we see no representation of Asians or eastern Europeans..but perhaps its not a moralistic ground they wish to tread because of their culture.

I don't think that Love Island needs to prove anything to anyone. If you look to television programmes to educate yourself on these issues, a few episodes of Jeremy Kyle should prove quite conclusively that there's hope for everyone!

Theres first dates, take me out, dinner dates, naked attraction and a whole load on other dating shows on TV that have a more average looking cast with all sorts of body types and looks.
Love Island is not that type of show. First of all the format just wouldn't work if everyone wasn't on a level playing field in terms of looks. Also the whole appeal of the show is watching sexy singletons in a villa getting off with each other. If they got a more average Joe looking cast I'm pretty sure it wouldn't do that well.

That was just one example of the most recent season made by the same company making Love Island. I'm not saying they should cast more black/asian people to educate people on how they do their hair , I'm saying they should cast more black/asian people for more fair/equal representation on screen instead of watching people who all look the same

As I said before LI will attract the same sort of people...does it not occur to you that maybe the very people you want to see on there ACTUALLY don't want to be there because they have more self respect..no ego or desperation to be famous...just a thought.

There have been loads of black/mixed race, (aren't they black?) maybe they could have gone with another black girl or two but we don't know the percentage of black girls who applied as opposed to white girls
what I would like is for the ladies to ditch that bikini bottom up the arse crack look they are all so fond of, its really not sexy
