well our team PSV have beaten spanish team Valencia, who are a regular 5th/6th place at the spanish la liga which is also a quite good achievement, even if it is a friendly match, so yeah i agree with Adam, friendly matches are important to begin your season
Man city are a much better team than liverpool. Also, both city and united have much greater depth in their squads than liverpool. If liverpool's new keeper gets injured for example, they are back to a ball fumbler.

I'd say:
1/2 - City/Chelsea
3 - Liverpool
4/5 - Spurs/Arsenal
6 - United
7/8 - West Ham/Everton
With the gaps between all pairings a lot closer than they were last season.
Not sure why, just get the impression Mourinho's completely lost it lately and bar Pogba they just don't have....that good a squad. Sanchez has gone AWOL since last September, everyone seems to be played out of position, or wants to leave  and no big-names linked with them atm it seems. Don't get me wrong, it wouldn't be a shock to see them top 3 again, it's just... there seems to be dissension in the ranks.

A difficult pre-season is threatening to lurch into a farce for Manchester United as manager Jose Mourinho heads into their final game in the USA against European champions Real Madrid without as many as 17 senior players.
United head for the humidity and tropical storms of Miami with dark clouds hovering over them and a manager whose mood flicks between exasperated and foreboding.
Mourinho has been on a damage limitation exercise for several days, claiming after a heavy 4-1 defeat to Liverpool in Michigan that they are merely trying to prevent “ugly results” because of how weak the teams he can put out have become.
Already deprived of more than half of his first choice starting XI because of their World Cup commitments, injuries have now decimated his squad and Mourinho is worried as we move towards the start of the serious business of a new domestic campaign.
It is difficult not to feel some sympathy for the Portuguese, who was already concerned about the lack of preparation time, so to lose players like Antonio Valencia and Nemanja Matic to injuries that will sideline them for several weeks has been a disaster.
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/content/dam/football/2018/07/29/TELEMMGLPICT000170092153_trans_NvBQzQNjv4BqBIhf9vY 3F0gQVGEB0QvnDrT66NV8g2lVAfd6KpRAarU.jpeg?imwidth= 1000
United look in disarray less than two weeks before the start of the Premier League campaign, with Mourinho also painting a gloomy picture of their recruitment process, a source of tension that will not be easy to resolve given there are only 11 days left in this transfer window and Leicester City are determined not to sell their top transfer target, centre-back Harry Maguire.
Although international players like Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku and David De Gea will be available for their first game against Leicester on August 10th, they will not have played a game for three weeks and may well not have trained properly either.
"I just hope the boys on deserved holidays, they take care of themselves a little bit,” Mourinho said after the second-half collapse against Liverpool. “And somebody wants to do what [Marcus] Rashford and [Phil] Jones do, which is to be back a little bit earlier to try and help the team, because, for the beginning of the season we are going to be in trouble."
Mourinho has to be careful. The short term need for players to return to training early has to balance with the need to ensure they are recharged and rested after the World Cup. He cannot put too much pressure on, particularly as he admitted last week that if you rush players back after an intense international tournament, they can suffer burn out later in the season.
Eric Bailly and Ander Herrera are the latest to cause concern, after they played almost the full 90 minutes in both games against AC Milan and Liverpool.
Mourinho has praised their commitment and dedication, revealing Bailly had asked to play on Sunday when Chris Smalling started limping in the warm up because he wanted to protect United’s young players. Neither are likely to start against Madrid, with another friendly to come next week back in Europe against Bayern Munich.
“I don't think he's a leader,” Mourinho said when revealing Bailly’s ankle is badly swollen. “I don't think anything goes to change with that. I think he's a team boy, a great boy, and an honest man, honest to put everything for the team. That is why we still have him and why he is going to stay with us because football teams need people like him and Herrera, these kind of players where the club is more important than anything else.”
For all of the concerns about Mourinho’s state of mind, there are also signs of a siege mentality being built, the sort of environment he has thrived in before. Sources have told Telegraph Sport that he is bullish behind the scenes, keen to fuel perceptions that everyone and everything is conspiring against United.
At least some of United’s youngsters have enjoyed the tour. With so many senior players missing, the likes of Andre Gomes, Tahith Chong, Demetri Mitchell and James Garner have got some precious game time in a first team environment.
It has also benefited versatile defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah, who has returned to Old Trafford from a loan spell with Crystal Palace. The thought of playing Real Madrid excites rather than scares him.
“It has been good,” he said, when asked about the tour. “We've played against quality opponents. We tried to train how we want to play so I think it has been really good for us.
“Last year I was at Crystal Palace. I think I improved there and I've come back a better player. I came back to show that I've improved and to show that I'm a better player now. I'll keep working hard and see what happens.
“I don't know when a decision will be made about my future here. I'm here on the tour and I'm focused on my training sessions and on the games. The next game is Real Madrid and we have to focus on that now.
“It's very nice to play against a good club, against good players. Some of the best in the world. It's good to have that test.”

Jose first to pack his bags?
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is the new favourite to be the first Premier League manager to leave his post this season.
The Portuguese has been cut from 14/1 into 7/1 clear favourite to be the first to lose his job, with a flurry of bets now making him most likely of the top flight bosses to go first according to oddschecker.
He’s overtaken Leicester City boss Claude Puel and Watford manager Javi Gracia, who were installed as the early candidates.

How seeds of Jose Mourinho petulance were sewn 12 months ago over Man Utd's reluctance to spend extra £5m
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/content/dam/football/2018/07/30/TELEMMGLPICT000170529014_trans_NvBQzQNjv4BqajCpFXs ei0OXjDFGPZkcdJUTtcoYFCnG3Cbpi3Xzp3c.jpeg?imwidth= 700
In an effort to understand Jose Mourinho’s increasingly agitated state this summer, it is actually necessary to go back 12 months when the seeds for the Manchester United manager’s angst over the club’s approach to transfers were first sown.
Despite watching United beat Chelsea to Romelu Lukaku, and take Nemanja Matic from his old club, Mourinho never quite got over United’s unwillingness to pay an extra £5 million to secure the services of Croatia winger Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan.
Even with Perisic, Mourinho felt United would struggle to challenge the eventual champions Manchester City but, without him, the Portuguese believed his team lacked the balance and quality delivery they really needed out wide.
Alexis Sanchez arrived instead in January but, seven months later, as another transfer window prepares to close, Mourinho is again ruing what he doesn’t have rather than what he does and letting anyone who cares to listen know just how unhappy he is about it all, regardless of what that does to morale and relationships.

Does it matter if its real or not? Teams are judged on their performance throughout the season. If Man U are crap, the manager will get the boot and then the story goes on.
In my humble opinion, Kloppy and his team will be under much greater pressure with all the spending and raising of expectations. Bear in mind that his new signings have no experience in the premier league and many have been disasters before them.

Pogba can't agree terms with a new club unless Man U have decided to sell him, and if they do you can guarantee it will be for a profit.
Pogba didn't merit his transfer fee last year, he made little contribution over the season and united still finished second so I don't see it as an issue. It will also provide some funding possibilities ready for the new managers inevitable arrival. Mourinho will be gone soon enough

empire
22-08-2018, 09:24 PM
what jose needs is a coach who can drill into them players the utd way, he should pick roy keane for that job, let's be honest, utd need him to give them players the hair dryer treatment, because with out it, that club will win nothing, the players seem too soft and there lazy and the attitude from them players stink, if a 50 year old alex ferguson was at the dugout at brighton, there is no way that he would let them players, get away with that performance, he would hang each player up on the changing room peg, some of them players are on 70,80,100 even 200 grand a week, and they take a hissy fit because mourinho tells them some home truths about what they are doing wrong on the pitch, todays game has really gone to the dogs, players think the big wages make them believe that they know it better than the manager, there's an old say in football, the minute you know everything about this game is the minute you go down hill, that's what them players are heading too if they don't wise up and start trying to play there hearts out.

Man Utd have looked lifeless out there the last couple of games.
We all know that they have quality players (players that I wouldn't turn down for my team) but the players do have a bad attitude imo, and so does the Manager, there's a level of arrogance there that was not there under Sir Alex Ferguson. This current Man Utd team underestimate teams and are then in shock when they lose, and the players and Mourinho clearly don't get along which isn't helping the cause.
I hope that Man Utd sort themselves out as they are an iconic team not just for the Premier League but for the Sport in general.
i thought they played some good football
Sure, things need to be tightened up, but I dont see it as a major issue yet. It could be in a few weeks of course, but the media like a good story and they need a new one after getting shot of Wenger last year.

I'm not defending Sanchez, he has been piss poor since we signed him. But the thing that really kills me is that we have a really good set of players that are being held back by a negative misery in Mourinho.

the board cant let the team sit near the bottom of the league and thats where they are heading. If they wait till Christmas the Chief exec is toast too.
They have great players that are not allowed to play in a way that comes naturally to them on the pitch. It's no wonder they don't play as they should, and thats down to the manager. These were not players that were bought to play schoolboy tactics, they were bought because they were already brilliant at what they do naturally

the players have downed tools, but that is as a result of Jose's managerial style, he can't help himself as it has happened at two clubs before this so there is a pattern, I think he gets bored easily and needs to move on and this is his get out clause
Don't worry Zidane will soon sort them all out

it isn't the manager's fault, the problem is with the lack of good players
manager Always get the blame when ur losing :notimpressed: i don't think Zidane can do any better than Mourinho, not with these players
Really ??
Only the CB area is suspect .. should be Bailly plus one other decent CB

100% agree. This is what happened with Jose at Chelsea. The players clearly want him out. He seems quite bitter about the past. He wants to pick a fight with everybody. The team spirit is not there.

the board cant let the team sit near the bottom of the league and thats where they are heading.
I truly believe if Alexis, Rashford, Pogba & Lukaku were playing near their best we could challenge for the top titles but Jose seems more interested in picking a fight than winning now :fist:

Talksport are pushing that story and seem to have some inside info
I gave up listening to Talksport the moment they gave Micky Quinn airtime :nono:
As there is a CL game tomorrow night, he wont get the boot till after that.

What frustrates me about all this is the utter LIES everyone tells
just come out a fecking say WHAT THE FECKING PROBLEM IS ITS NOT A FECKING SECRET YOU UTTER TWATS
so the press conference is LIES LIES LIES
what is the point??
why does everyone pretend they are something they are not, like they are in control, like there is no problem, like the players dont like the manager etc etc etc
its so exhausting the pathetic childish games they play

Maybe they will, maybe they wont and you know what Adam, in a way I dont care. I'm a United fan, we have had the worst start to any season but the we've turned it round. Win or lose, I'm a United fan and will support the club. It gets boring when (mainly) City and Liverpool fans (and I think you are.Liverpool iirc) just repeat the same bollocks constantly. 8 in 8 for a new manager is bloody good going.....I don't really care about the rest, Utd have their passion back, thats good enough for me, for now.

We're getting promoted this season.:hehe:
What's important to me is that United are now playing the type of football I like to watch. Win or lose, that's my priority. I had stopped watching them because the type of football they played was 100% boring, un-entertaining crap.
