Seriously hope we spend some money and manage to make a few decent transfers in January, otherwise it’s just another dull season in League One for the 4th time.
Which players would you like to see at Charlton?

We need players who are good enough to play League One football which is what simply haven’t got at the moment apart from a handful.
The signings we are making at the moment are just papering the cracks until the end of the season. We need some serious investment to stand a chance getting out of this league.
We signed Alfie May and he’s having a terrific season, he’s joint top scorer in the league and yet we’re sat in 16th in the table, 6 points off relegation. I feel bad for the guy, if we didn’t have him we’d be going down.

Is your midfield any good?

Dobson is the only decent one. We’ve made a few signings in midfield but it’s going to take a few games for them to gel and to see whether they’re actually any good.
January is the worst time to be making signings because good players are overpriced and a lot of clubs won’t let them go so easily, especially if they’re necessary for their respective club and anyone we get on loan is for only one reason, they’re not good enough for the first team they’re currently at. If that kind of loan player is from a League Two club then that speaks volumes yet we’ll sign them.
Tbh if we lose to Northampton tomorrow evening, our manager is gone. We haven’t won in 11 games and his job is literally on the line.

It's always a shame when you have to kind of grind through a season with ordinary players throughout most of the squad (we've been like this for over a decade) so I feel your pain on that one.
And if your Manager does end up getting the sack who would you like to replace him?
And good luck against Northampton tonight, hopefully it'll be the start of a turnaround.
And congratulations on Norwich's win against West Brom, Cherie.

It’s the same thing every season for the last 4 years.
Tbh anyone that we get is not going to last long if the owners are not willing to invest heavily into the squad. We’ve had 13 different managers since 2014 and only 2 of them have lasted beyond 1 year (Robinson & Bowyer). It’s disgusting and I reckon any good manager would avoid our club with our history of sacking managers.
I’m going to Reading away next month, it’s my first time going to this ground but I’m not that excited for it as I should be because we’re basically S hit.

at least your team probably doesn't have to travel enormous lengths throughout the country back to back :fan:
tomorrow for us
Almere (away, which originally meant for last saturday but got postponed last minute due to ice on the field, too slippery :notimpressed:)
on sunday
Volendam (away)
next cup match
Groningen (away)
our bus driver is making extra hours now
Sooooo back in the days of Cantona , Gary Speed and Gary McAllister …
Did they all play in the championship/ 2nd Division or whatever the second division was called ??

Wonder who manager number 14 will be? Appleton was dismissed not even 30 mins after the game finished, like I said this was a must win game for him otherwise he was out the door.
Again we throw away points in the last mins of the game we’ve done this so many times this season I’ve actually lost count.
The referee had an absolute stinker of a game as well. Our player sent off for winning the ball, we should’ve been given a penalty for handball too and nothing was given. Northampton should’ve been given a penalty as well as our goalkeeper took out their striker on a one on one and nothing was given.
Mock I know you love these shocking referee decisions and once the highlights are up I’ll post them in here for you too enjoy . We see it too much in the EFL.

I can understand what you're on about, investment is a huge thing for any Football club, if you don't invest then it's an uphill battle.
And personally I don't think it's good for a club to sack that many managers in such a short space of time, but admittedly 1 point in your last five games when you're 16th in the table, I definitely understand why Appleton has been sacked, even if the problems are deeper than just the Manager.
And Reading have their own problems, so maybe you'll take advantage of that when you play them.

I still remember the invisible penalty that Cardiff got against us a few seasons ago.

We only lost 1-0 away to West Brom who are fighting to get into the playoffs, I actually feel optimistic going into our next three games after seeing that result tbh.

I know that Wrexham have apparently made contact with Vardy which makes a lot of sense
Though I wonder if he may also get offers from the MLS and the Saudis

I could see Vardy going to Inter Miami or Charlotte SC.

Wrexham have offered Fulham’s captain Tom Cairney ( who is out of contract this summer) a double your money contract to drop down a division !!
He is 34 so it may just suit him to move down a level

Maybe although Suarez has scored 22 goals this season and Messi and him are literally inseparable

I was so nearly done with Charlton the last time I posted in this thread  glad we’ve managed to turn it around somewhat.
We’ve just announced that Reebok are going to be our new kit manufacturer from 2025 onwards. I didn’t think Reebok even made football kits for teams anymore?

I’m kinda glad tho tbh because Castore were absolutely **** so Reebok has surely got to be an improvement.

It makes good sense for both parties ..
He will be capt and an assistant manager plus start every game .. whilst doubling his money just as he’s out of contract

Reebok were the sponsors of Bolton when they finished sixth in the Premier League years ago weren't they?
Hopefully Charlton are going to be blessed with a successful Reebok charm as well.

Yh they were. They sponsored them for a long time (at least until 2012?) I didnt think they made football kits anymore.
