If the maps were the same size, I think trying to do 10 generators with 2 killers patrolling would be nightmare no matter how many of you there are. I'd probably lower it to 8 since there are two big threats (especially if their powers combine, so half of you are dodging axes whilst the others are trying to disarm traps)

The 2 Killers idea would have interesting effects upon certain perks too.

Some would become completely useless:
- Discordance letting you know 2/3 are on a generator... well, yeah, duh :laugh:
- Most hexes would probably be cleansed immediately, making Thrill of the Hunt much more necessary
- Save the Best til Last? Bitch that'd require mad patience

Some would become almost vital:
- Dying Light slowing down 7 survivors would be invaluable
- Corrupt Intervention blocking off all but 3 generators would be clutch af
- Thanatophobia only needing 4 people injured would be a dream, coupled with Sloppy Butcher

Imagine Barbecue & Chili counting towards all 8 survivors too, going from 25-50-75-100-125-150-175-200% bonus bloodpoints :flutter:

I kept the Freddy busy for AGES like no lie it must have been 5+ minutes, he finally got me and only 1 gen was done, anyway one Meg saved me and healed me and we both hit gens and ran him around a bit, 1 gen left and anyway Meg died and I was alone and I got a message from the dead guy that the other two survivors were just in lockers in the factory.

I carried on but eventually died and then the 2 inactive players left the locker, walked around the factory a little to lose to the crows and then started Urban evading around the map and eventually found the hatch, used a key and both escaped.

They literally had 6000 points each, they sat the whole match letting us do the work and left via the hatch when we both died. Some players are toxic af

I have messaged a killer once to say where someone was hiding in a locker for the hatch without helping at all, and they actually killed them :love: I know it's against the rules but sometimes it's so justified. Why should someone who did no generators, rescued no one from the hook, and didn't act as a distraction, survive?

Think it was a Huntress on the Nightmare on Elm St. map, so the hatch always spawns in the same place lol (in the basement of the school, at the foot of the stairs where there's usually a totem behind the wall)

Had a few just... weird games as Killer earlier. Everyone seemed to be trying to piss me off. Played 2 games against the same SWF who kept tea-bagging at pallets and windows, and the like, and I got destroyed in the first one as Myers because I just wanted to level up for a daily ritual anyway / I don't have great perks on Myers :(

So I noticed they were in the lobby again, and I had a 2nd ritual to Mori someone as the Plague. So naturally I equip a pink mori, but again, have pretty bad perks with the Plague. They get cocky again, and I did mori one of them, but at the end of the game, this happens :hee:

Freddy was never THAT weak on console, and especially to new players I think he was one of the scarier killers that got players panicking. But then when you start playing, you mostly fear the Doctor (horrible skillchecks), Hag (scary traps) and Freddy (invisible killer!!!!) rather than the actual console gods (Billy, Spirit, Huntress)

This past update has kinda tampered with the gameplay quality and I'm not sure if it's good or bad. Lunges that you feel would 100% hit the survivor sometimes don't seem to, now, and idk if it was just bc my internet was patchy or not but this was 100% my worst game I've ever had.

So it's pretty obvious from the get-go that these 4 are all friends; they've brought offerings to start together, used a kinda safe map for survivors (Blood Lodge) with 40203 pallets, and they all keep swarming to save each other with flashlights and body-blocks. That I can handle. Then the teabagging starts, so I return the favour.

And it's just looking like the tide is turning - I didn't have Ruin so I was bound to lose gens early on but I was hooking them, not falling for the endless loops, etc, when... this glitch happens.

And hooo boy, that first minute of being stuck was a drag. I hate players like this.

PS4's share system edits out anything that correlates to your message inbox, so this clip cuts out 5-10 minutes of me going to message 2 of them (the first, the Meg, was French and had a profile that was all OUI OUI TOXIC TWITCH STREAMER HONHEHONHEHON X, so I gave her a miss and decided she was infantile, and clicked on the Feng Min instead who had some English in her bio. The messages went something like:

Me - Can you and your friends just get this over with, lol
Her - Sure, I feel bad. Pretty good job so far?

So I was pleasantly surprised she wasn't a complete dick and just waited there for 10 more minutes teabagging and healing for easy farm points (I used party streamers, none of them did :idc:).

I've encountered that Meg before, sino29 and so so toxic, obviously in a swf so as the hag I was careful about where I put traps. In the basement I put one on the stairs out of view of her friend and she tripped it and I hooked her and with two on hooks and the other two trying to save them I stayed around the basement (where else am I meant to go if all 4 players are in that area?)

Anyway I leave chasing 1 of them and let them unhook because sino and the other dude were on 1st hook and I wanted points, they both got unhooked so I go back and hook sino again after they hide in a locker and chase the others, I get two kills and they only have 1 gen done so I slug her and leave her on the ground and go break pallets and let her heal, then start chasing again and once again the Kate gets caught and hooked in the basement and sino is literally right by the shack so I don't leave but run around outside the shack (why would I? I just broke pallets and kicked gens) until the unhook and then I go slug them both and hook them and game end.

Sino sends me a salty message calling me a hook camper (I literally never hook camped, they all got 3 hooks apart from the Kate at the end who I believe I hooked only twice) and accusing me of taking the game hostage in the basement.

So sad people get so angry over a game!

We already had a chainsaw wielding cannibal when they introduced Leatherface so it shouldn't matter imo

Pennywise would be a great addition, his map could be underground sewer tunnels, it could be so creepy.

Pennywise and the Clown could easily co-exist given that Pennywise is a shapeshifter while the clown is more a drugger character, the main problem would be that the devs aren't hugely inventive with new powers. I could imagine Pennywise' power being something simple like his weird monstrous run that he does when he's chasing after the kids. Ideally you'd want him to have illusion powers or spider abilities but I don't think the devs are good enough to pull it off.

Thanatophobia is v useful if you're against a group of good survivors because they'll think that cleansing themselves and giving you the corrupt purge is a bad idea, so will stay sick as much as possible.

I can't think of many others that are specifically good for her. Maybe Discordance so you can vom from a distance and know you'll hit two of them... and Monitor & Abuse is always good for catching them off-guard.

A mouse is more precise than controller so she tends to be stronger on PC since it's easier to do things like turn around mid blink so you can position yourself to land an instant hit more easily.

Deathslinger and the Huntress might be able to snipe from a distance but the PC nurses are the true snipers in DBD.

I've so far only gone against Ghostfaces and Executioners from the PC side of things, I mostly played as the killer though and went against some... wonderful characters (all have silly usernames so you can tell they're PC rather than, say, Switch/Mobile/Xbox). Purple clicky flashlight nonces, brand new parts, instaheals, generators all done within 3 minutes, you name it. At least one had the honesty to say "I'm a bed wetter" in their username.

Once this update goes live (probably 3 or 4 weeks from now) the Springwood (Freddy Kreuger) maps will look a lot different, not sure if there's any other maps changing yet but the lockers and generators appear different so maybe??

There're also new offerings to affect where the escape hatch spawns, and where the basement will be, but since there are maps where the basement can only be in one place (the Saw map) this seems confusing :think:

Halos, it's a cosmetic you could unlock during the anniversary event. If you were playing as non-licensed characters, you could collect these halos from pedestals that would unlock them as cosmetics if you managed to survive as a survivor or simply win as a killer... I think. I can't remember the killer requirements that well.

If you log in this week you'll get given a free gift of 250,000 bloodpoints, everyone - because of some error that was affecting people's rewards at the end of games (didn't encounter it personally but I guess it happened!)

@ Scott - Pros:
- Every game does feel different even if there isn't technically much going on; trying to unlock perks and cosmetics and offerings does incentivise you quite a lot so it's addictive
- Free challenges as well to keep everyone occupied (you can pay to get access to the rewards on the "rift" (basically a battle pass) but even without doing that you'll unlock stuff
- Constant updates and probably the only horror game that hasn't been left in the lurch (either through awkward copyright dramas or just general neglect)
- And it CAN be fun... and it's genuinely scary for the first few weeks or so. Once you get used to the gameplay most of the scariness disappears admittedly.

Cons:
- Community is probably the worst out of all gaming communities I've come into contact with (which is, admittedly, not many)... so many people just itching to screw you over, or send hate mail, or killers not wanting to give you a chance. But in all I'd say this only happens once every 4 or 5 games, the only other problem with teammates is their stupidity (but if you're new you'll get low level killers anyway)
- SO many bugs all the time that take eons to be fixed. Right now there's a bug where if you walk around a certain slight-mound / hill, you'll get stuck on the corner of it and unable to do anything unless you wait to die. And because the game technically counts you as moving, you won't alert the killer to your situation so they can snuff you out quickly. I was made aware of it quickly but it's still happened to me twice so idk how the hell many others are encountering it regularly.
- Pretty much all of the characters are ugly and it is rare that the designers give them something nice to wear. But the new guy about to be released early September is a daddy so that's nice, and there's always David :love:

just went against an all Rank 1 PC SWF doing every cliche in the book (using Object of Obsession, purple flashlights, teabagging every pallet, clicking to get attention) and it was honestly more sad to watch than frustrating. Such sad little rageboners at work. (Especially considering I'm a Rank 5 console Leatherface, and I still managed to kill one of them lol)

It is hella annoying though that I only ever play survivor solo, and always get Rank 1-3 killers (I'm a rank 1/2 survivor) that sweat their asses off, but whenever I play killer as a purple, I only ever get red survivors :shrug: took me like 8 games to get a match where I completed the "kill all 4 survivors by any means" challenge in the rift (admittedly I've been playing casual killers rather than the insane meta ones but still)

I think this update might be a nail in the coffin for DBD for me. Not the final one, I'm still optimistic, but everything that could go wrong with this one did go wrong:

1) Turned the framerate of the PS4 into complete dog****. Games are so laggy and unplayable right now, at a level I've not yet seen on this game.
2) The 'event' is just... you can get 3000 points for each "special" generator repaired, or each "special" hook used. That's it. No harvesting plants, no double bloodpoints, no special cake offering, nothing.
3) In its place are some new gimmicky offerings: the flickering lightbulb which does absolutely nothing for anyone with an IQ above 50, and the blight serum which just completely undoes some killers' abilities. You've hooked someone as ghostface and now want to go back into stealth? Tough ****, you have to do some stupid rush forward first. And you can't use it again until someone else is hooked... which won't happen because you can't go into stealth unless you use it.
4) Most heinous of all, despite some (as usual, admittedly cool) new skins, the ability to earn them through gameplay has been completely removed and you now have to spend money on them (unless you have 20,000+ shards saved up which... I mean... well done on 120 hours of work, I guess). There's absolutely no reason for this other than sheer greed; sure you can argue the Ghostface skin should be paid for since it's a license, but none of the other 5 (Feng, Yui, Felix, Legion & Blight) are and could easily have been a rehash of the 2018 or 2019 events where you can earn 2 of the skins for free. Especially since there's nothing ****ing spectacular about the survivor ones.
5) More killer perks nerfed into the ground: Thanatophobia is now useless since it doesn't affect healing, Pop Goes the Weasel has been shaved to 45 seconds to use it or lose it, Pyramid Head is turned into a spamming killer that can't play mindgames with his trails any more, Huntress Lullaby is nerfed, Discordance now has a limited range it can be visible from... there are TWO killer perks buffed (Trail of Torment and Cruel Limits) but... who uses those?! Meanwhile, all survivor perks changed are - of course - buffs (to Technician, For the People, We're Gonna Live Forever, Any Means Necessary and Slippery Meat).
6) The trapper map reworks look nice, but I can't help but feel most of the new reworks look the same graphically? I can't really tell much difference between the Freddy and Trapper maps now, tbh.
7) Oh and the new rift is garbage. Adam has OK cosmetics, but the Nea one is hideous. And some of the challenges are gross... hit 6 people with a rushing Blight in one game? For level ONE of the rift? Yikes.

I just... don't like the direction this game has gone in. The community likes to poke fun at its bugs and glitches and constant "pretty good job so far"s but it's becoming like Fallout; what was once part of its charm is now becoming a license to get lazy with development and just rush forward big money updates without actually testing it on players who know how to play it. It was exciting getting franchises like Stranger Things, Ghostface, Silent Hill involved with the game but beyond the $$$ those things generate there's nothing about DBD gameplay that's been any improvement since 2017.

I think there was a hotfix two days ago and the framerate is a little better... or at least, back to how it was before the last update :laugh: double bloodpoints are now in effect until Nov 2 I think (can't they just make it a week? :( ) and I've calmed down re: the skins :laugh: the daily shards giveaways for logging in has made it easy to get a bunch of them, and let's be honest, you don't need the full outfit for the killers since the weapons aren't really worth the price.

I think there's only ones that give you no scratch marks after vaulting a window (Dance With Me) and when a generator is finished (Poised), nothing for lockers until now. In all honesty it's a bit useless, if a killer can't find you 3 seconds after you've jumped out of a locker it's not going to matter with or without scratch marks :laugh:

Apparently the fanbase are raging about this update being broken but admittedly, I've not encountered many bugs yet outside of a camera angle bug while controlling Victor.

there's been a few odd little things but nothing as game-breaking as the Blight update which crushed the framerate:

- sometimes as survivor, the screen glitches a little and I can see my own scratchmarks (I never use that Nancy perk either)
- matchmaking seems a lot slower than it has been the past 6 months... not as awful as it used to be, but it feels like it's taken some steps back
- some of the new perks don't seem to work but I haven't tested them myself (Hoarder in particular)
- seen some people able to crawl out the exit gate after being downed by Charlotte with Victor on them, despite the supposed promise this wouldn't be possible
- Ormond rework has things spawning in absurd places (walls blocking hooks, rocks blocking windows, etc), and survivors are able to climb rocks and be invincible

otherwise I guess there're still a lot of complaints with the game but they haven't got much to do with this chapter:
- as Killer, the number of times you go to grab a survivor off a gen, or them unhooking someone, and you just freeze for a bit and don't even injure them = super super frustrating
- Pyramid Head's blade constantly dragging along the floor making noise (when he's supposed to be somewhat stealthy)
- Chase music seems inconsistent, especially with Doctor and Executioner (sometimes doesn't play at all)

they need more criticism tbh, the fans are way too lenient and embrace the bugs as part of the game's charm when it's anything but charming.

I just had a match where a ghostface downed me right at the end, he had no kills, the other players left because he was camping me on the floor while he tea bagged, the entity killed me and he sent me a message (I haven't sent one back nor will I) telling me to 'kill yourself irl' and because I never answered he sent another saying 'hope the silence means you already have'.

PC doctors are frightening; some of them have such precision with their blasts that you can feel helpless, yeah. People always seem to panic against him, though, and since I play solo it's always frustrating watching everyone wait at pallets and windows that you know he's going to shock you at so you can't use them :laugh:

I tried playing for the 1st time since Christmas and waited 18 minutes to play as killer and 1st hook the survivor killed themself and another DC'd (guessing swf duo) and so I let the last two go, I felt bad and lost interest.

Next game a ghost face stupidly tunneled me at the shack which had a strong loop next to it, 3 gens popped while he chased me and he's mad at me for his choices so he camps me, t bagging and hitting me on hook. Other survivors tried but he wanted me so they did the last gen and opened exit while he stood watching me in struggle. How was that fun for the killer?

This game is not fun to me anymore, the community is the most toxic I have ever seen.

A LOT of people are pissed with this newest update that came out on Tuesday. Major complaints are about the hitboxes and the changes to the HUD (the layout of the in-game screen has changed completely).

I can sympathise with the former: the games I've played over the past 2 days have given me the most "wtf????" hits as both a survivor and a killer. Jumping through a window and getting hit a second later... not good at all. The problem stems from them changing the way characters move: every single action looks different, and on the face of it it's a good change... no one is hunched over and gremlin-looking any more, everyone stands upright, and the animations for crawling/getting recovered/being injured are just... I don't really have any opinion on them really, I don't care about the change either way. But I guess the hitboxes are crazy because they haven't changed them from how they were before the animations looked different?

I don't really have a problem with the new HUD other than the option they've given to change the size of it. You can change the in-game HUD so all the icons are smaller and take up less of the screen.... but the problem is it also makes your progress bar and skill checks smaller :shrug: it's also a nightmare playing against the Plague because you can't rely on the status of the survivors to be accurate: I was being vomited on and the icon of my character still indicated I wasn't "broken" yet by the vomit, and she still hit me and down me even though it should've been an injure :shrug: I can imagine it'll be difficult to tell your madness level vs. a doctor, and "deep wound" effects vs. Legion/Borrowed Time/Deathslinger etc.

Other small weird bugs I've noticed:
-when you're hooked/caged, the music keeps changing between two different audio files
-killer sometimes gets sucked to your side of the pallet if you stun them with it

But yeah I've never seen the community so frustrated and angry with an update... even the Blight one which broke the PS4's framerates and had like 400 miscellaneous bugs.

On the plus side... I really like the new Saw map. The Asylum ones... meh, no real improvement and a little too bright.

The new chapter was revealed yesterday, it's a K-pop focused one with a serial killer K-Pop star that throws knives and looks very much like Jared Leto's joker. He looks fun from the gameplay. The survivor is his manager, and she looks pretty cool too, although I think I will mostly still stick to playing Yui and Felix.

There's no new map sadly, which is a real shame since the game lobby has become a neon filled korean backstreet which would have made for a great looking map.

This whole chapter looks amazing and I love the look of the lobby too. I'm disappointed at no new map though. Would have been nice for an asian male survivor but I'm fine with the third asian female she looks great.

There's been a very mixed reception to the aesthetics, but I think he looks quite good, I'm interested to see what his cosmetics are like.

A lot of people seem to think he is too 'normal' looking and doesn't fit in with the aesthetics of the rest of the game, but I disagree. There's plenty of normal looking killers and there's a lore reason for it. The more monstrous killers, I believe, were ones that resisted the Entity, while Legion, Trickster, Huntress and Clown etc are all relatively normal looking. Clown and Trickster were serial killers that welcomed the Entity's realm (as was Ghost Face, but he's a weird one since he is a guest character but this version of GF is unique to DBD), while Frank and Julie were pretty psychotic to begin with, and the Huntress didn't know any better. Basically, I think if you're welcoming to the Entity's game, you don't get put through the ringer by it until you submit.

It's cool and everything but the fact they didn't bother to give him a map but just a lobby screen makes the entire chapter scream "we want to take your money for the (admittedly nice) cosmetics these Koreans will get, not really arsed if he's any good or not"

The killer perks are good though for once. Survivor ones are trash.

The lack of map is so lazy, they could have gone for a deserted city street with maybe an open looted shop, possibly even an open sewer or access to a rooftop and maybe some neon signs in the street to fit the aesthetic sort of like a times square feel to it.

They don't make money off of maps though so they'll be busy making cosmetics instead

The exposed perk is apparently ridiculous on Doctor since he can cover the whole map in his terror radius and the effect doesn't end with hooking the survivor so most of the time you'll have the opportunity to down someone apparently.

I think the survivor's exhaustion perk isn't too bad, but the others seem a bit iffy.

On the one hand I think it's a little bit anticlimactic to tease something they're not going to reveal until the end of May, but on the other this is another huge coup for the game and something that will really excite fans of both franchises, I'm sure.

I can't see it being anyone but Mr. X as the killer but then I don't know the franchise too well... the new tall vampire lady with the freddy claws would be my second guess but then her similarity to Freddy's weapon might put her out of the running...

The trailer - *i think* - uses Felix for the hooked survivor screams, so I've no idea which playable character they'll release.

I'm really excited about it and I've been thinking about it since they revealed it, the way I see it, there are three likely options.

The first is Jill as the survivor and Nemesis as the Killer. I think out of all the best known RE villains, Nemesis probably has the best chance since he has the most potential for a unique power since he has access to a rocket launcher and tentacles so he could potentially be a trap or ranged character.

The second option, I think, is a Stranger Things styled chapter where we get Claire and Leon alongside Mr. X with a Racoon Police Department map, I know they said no new maps until they remake the old ones, but I think collabs will be an exception. The main problem with Mr. X is that he doesn't really do anything that isn't already represented in the game, in his trenchcoat form, all I can imagine him having is an Oni styled dash, or some sort of meter mechanic where he can activate his ability and walk through obstacles but that's kinda boring. There'd be more potential if he's in his full, fast, Tyrant form though.

The last one, which I think is fairly likely, is Ethan Winters and Lady D as the killer. This chapter's coming a month after RE8's release so I think there's potential there, and Lady D potentially has a lot of wiggle room when it comes to powers. Like, I could imagine her summoning her daughters as traps/sentries or something.

I'm not sure what I'm hoping for, tbh, but I'm very interested to find out more.

The safe bet is probably Claire & Leon as survivors with Mr. X as a killer and the RCPD as the map but I dunno, I'm not quite sure what to expect. I expect the cosmetics that will be available with the chapter will be great though. Capcom loves a collaboration so I'm expecting a number of legendary skins so that other RE protagonists aren't left out in the cold. If Dimitrescu isn't the killer, I'd be surprised if she doesn't end up as a Plague costume, and I could easily see a Nemesis or Mr. X (if either one of them aren't the killer either) Oni skin.

Map is Raccoon City Police Dept (as seen in the RE2 remake)... it looks pretty great but unsure how it'll fit with this game.

The power initially seemed underwhelming, it looked like a cross between Plague (infecting survivors with the T-Virus through Nem's tentacle attacks) and your standard ranged killers (Pyramid Head, Deathslinger, Huntress) but there's a new mechanic that looks interesting (if a little bugged, but... it's DBD...)

Basically Nemesis also spawns NPC zombies to roam around the map and they can attack survivors too. Alternatively, Nemesis can kill them himself to boost his own power (like Myers, it has 3 tiers and his 3rd tier allows him to whip people from more range).

He looks pretty strong right now... the bug I mentioned is that I think the zombies are programmed to slowly approach survivors, and if one is hooked... that zombie pretty much face camps... so hopefully they fix that otherwise this might turn out to be another Twins chapter :worry:

Perks are interesting... I'll use the stats for their "level 3" effects rather than just a level 1 (like a peasant would use)

Killer:
- Lethal Pursuer - at the start of the game you can see everyone's auras for 7 seconds
- Hysteria - when you injure someone, every other survivor becomes oblivious for 30 seconds (cooldown of a minute though?)
- Eruption - you can kick a bunch of generators and once you down someone, all generators you kicked at some point explode and lose a chunk of progress (and start regressing)

Jill:
- Counterforce - you cleanse totems 20% faster and when you break one, you can see the aura of another one for 4 seconds and cleanse those ones 20% even faster.
- Resurgence - when you get unhooked you automatically have half your health back
- Blast Mine - most interesting one... you can trap a generator with a "mine" that - if the Killer kicks it - they are stunned and blinded for a good 5 or 6 seconds. It will blind other survivors nearby though.

Leon:
- Bite the Bullet - make no noise when healing, and if you fail healing skillchecks they only do 1% damage and don't notify the Killer any more
- Flashbang - similar to Jill's, where you can craft an item by hiding in a locker after doing a certain amount of gen. progress... it's basically the same as a firecracker or party starter though.
- Rookie Spirit - when you pass 5 repair skillchecks you can see the aura of any generator that is regressing (not sure if this would be useful for anyone other than a new player...)

Anniversary event looks really underwhelming... they've basically done the same as last year. New crown to unlock on all original characters (easy for killers, survivors have to escape with it and are more visible with it, but hey... survivors have easy Adept challenges so I think that's a fair trade). Some community challenge to unlock some Wraith and David skins that are super plain as well... same pattern as the ones Claudette and Deathslinger got last year (black with gold lines)... I know it sounds ungrateful but I think it's still really ****ing scandalous that every single nice skin in the game now is behind a paywall... I'm so glad I was able to unlock the really nice Hallowed Blight skins for Doctor, Hag, Huntress, Trapper, Wraith etc. back when they actually required gameplay to unlock rather than £8 a ****ing pop.

All in all it's a pretty underwhelming anniversary stream. It's here if you want it though:
