I am sure ITV would be promoting it so much more than Channel 5

they probably already have ideas for BB/CBB, how they think they can save the show, and tbh Endemol should feel delighted now with this news

so yeah i would accept this offer, only for a bit of hopes that ITV shows interest in their show, while C5 had only been a huge letdown for them, even showing no effort at all, and with this weird and awful schedule now just wanting it to flop, while with ITV i think they will have a good schedule for this, they already do with BGT and Love Island

I remember a few months back there were odds posted here with a link to where on one of the betting sites they had a special bet on which channel would be airing Big Brother next year. There were only 3 or 4 choices and Channel 5 was not even one of them. The odds on favorite at a very strong 1 to 2 was ITV. The odds were only up for a few days and then mysteriously disappeared.

Someone knew this was going to happen.

i would love it, if that one former BGT contestant Eugene does BB then, he's a good comedian and also not that young, i think civilian BB then since he isn't good enough to be listed as celebrity for CBB

ITV needs BB and then go brainstorming on ideas how to try and make it successful again

but of course they can Always just broadcast CBB, just for harmless fun and entertainment i guess

YAS.

It'd fit into ITV2's schedule really well, since they air Love Island during Summer, they could put BB on during Autumn-Winter. And honestly, they'd treat the show a lot better than Channel 5 has.

If this is true, and they are interested in having the BB format, Endemol should definitely take the opportunity.

Big Brother started on Channel 4
then moved to Channel 5

now there is a possibility to be on ITV2 (i.e. channel 6)

If anything, they’ll do the opposite. They’ll want to make sure BB is as far differentiated from Love Island so they don’t ruin each other, basically with overexposure of the same type of show. It might also be 1 of the reasons they actually take it, to avoid someone like Channel 4 taking it and putting it against Love Island.

ITV will make sure they aim BB towards a different market, such as a broader range of age demo’s, and focus on the reality and game side of things, while Love Island is aimed towards younger viewers with a focus on relationships etc

16-09-2018, 01:21 PM
If ITV snatches it I hope it's on ITV2.

ITV1 would turn into a family show like XF and IAC with all the censorship.

And I don't think they'll morph it into another Love Island when the only reason C5 did that (or tried to) is because BB aired the same time Love Island did and rated terribly in comparison.

If they're both on the same channel, they won't clash or feel the need to mimic LI because it's not on a rival channel.

But its not just ITV in the driver seat here, Endemol has a considerable amount of clout in negotiating for a suitor. There are multiple parties interested, and Endemol itself gets to choose who it sells to. Endemol are looking not just at dollar amounts but at synergies and future direction. The BB UK franchise is extremely important as well as beloved at Endemol. An agreement to air BB and CBB on ITV could help ITV secure a winning bid for Endemol, I suspect it is a huge part of their pitch and possibly even the current timing of their solid bid. Long live BB UK!!!':cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I wonder how Love Island/Big Brother back to back (I.e on at the same time but ones on at 9PM and ones on at 10PM) would do bc you’ve got the love island girlies still watching

Headie
16-09-2018, 01:45 PM
I’d be here for them getting the rights to it but only if they rest it for 5-10 years. No one will be interested in it atm regardless of what channel it’s on and the ratings would still be dire.

Perhaps if they brought it back when the Love Island interest/popularity starts to decline

ITV though have so many channels that they could realistically put LF on. But any channel could do that really online, I don't know why c5 didn't...as people like me would pay a fee for a BBs worth of LF..kind of like how c4 did on the last series

The very first series of BBUK was produced by Bazal Prodcutions, a division of Endemol UK.

Bazal was founded by Peter Bazalgette.

And where is he now? The Chairman of ITV! So he would be buying back his original company, the company that brought Big Brother to the UK in the first place.

they will probably keep Endemol as a separate production company, then it can produce programs for anyone. The current ratings on C5 are pretty meaningless as its a completely different viewership on ITV. ITV could give it a very big boost if they chose to host it.

Also, doesn't emma do a lot of things on itv? They could probably bring her on with relative ease.

it's really not news i'm afraid. Firstly, they have made an approach to perhaps bid for the company. Even if they actually did bid and got the company, which is by no means certain, there is then no guarantee that they would choose to show BB in the UK. It's basically pie in the sky at the present moment.

I sure do know what I'm talking about and I know the use of semantics too. One source comes over as unequivocal the other does not.

You have very dishonestly chosen to completely ignore the original source of this information, the very highly respected and trustworthy industry trade Deadline, which is the basis of this thread and cited in the very first post. Instead you cite your unamed second "source", probably an online British news publication, which is merely a secondary source rereporting the news originally broken by the first and original source, Deadline, which is why they have to use the word "reportedly" which you then twist to to bizarrely and incorrectly interpret their report as "not unequivocal", lol, merely because it says reportedly.

Then you smugly post that the story "is really not news" and proceed to instead spread this complete fakery that you have made up, claim that the that the bid is only being considered, has not been made and might not be made, directly in the face of the original and clear statement from the original source that ITV has officially made a bid. Basically , you are lying to the members of this forum who are very hopeful about a very realistic possibility of something that is very dear to their hearts and important to them and I wont have it.

As a side point, I dont think you know what semantics means either.
