Shamed Big Brother contestant Ellis Hillon is now facing the sack from her job at McDonald's over racist historic tweets.
The fast food giant confirmed it has launched its own investigation into the 19-year-old's social media activity after she was kicked out of the Big Brother house for allegedly posting the vile tweets four years ago - just a day into the latest series.
Ellis, from Cambuslang, Glasgow, works in the McDonald's fast food restaurant on London Road but is now under investigation by company bosses.
McDonald's told the Mirror: "We do not comment on individual employees but can confirm we are looking into these alleged social media posts."
The Mirror exclusively revealed that her place in the house was in jeopardy less than 12 hours after she walked in.
Producers started an investigation after disgusting racist messages sent from her old Twitter account resurfaced.
The teenager, who worked in McDonald's before bagging a place in the BB house, allegedly posted grim tweets about the September 11th tragedy and also used the n-word in messages that were were deleted hours after the launch show.
In a statement confirming her departure on Saturday afternoon, Big Brother said: "As a result of our investigation into offensive and unacceptable posts on social media, Ellis Hillon has been removed from the Big Brother House."
Doubts over her future on the show first began when eagle-eyed fans spotted at least two tweets that hadn't been taken down before she went into the house.
One, sent on September 11 2014, when Ellis was 15, read: "Oh ****** aye its 9/11!! RIP to everyone who died n ****** they smelly p**i terrorist bastards!!!"
Another tweet on January 24 2015 said: "Real n****s #sbo."
That Twitter account, with the handle @ellishillon, was completely deleted a few hours after Ellis entered the house on Friday night's launch show.
Channel 5 bosses, who would have been hoping for less scandals this series after a controversial CBB, launched an internal investigation.
“We are currently investigating the authenticity of a number of historic social media posts,” a Channel 5 spokesman told Mirror Online on Saturday morning.
Producers later decided that they had no choice but to permanently remove Ellis from the house.
Ellis' sister Nevada - who is currently operating a new Twitter account under the handle @HillonEllis - hit back at claims her sibling posted the vile tweets.
"There were no bad tweets!!! People just talk absolute rubbish and make fake things up," she wrote.
"There will be no negativity here and my sister will shine. Good night!!!!!"
But she then liked a tweet from a supporter, who said: "Wasn't she 15 when she tweeted that?"
Ellis caused controversy on launch night when she flashed her bum on her entrance into the house.

And it doesn't make any sense. An admitted criminal arsonist is in the house. Hopkins was allowed in. Even Rodrigo was allowed to stay after using the N word.

This is ridiculous. Unless her social media directly links her to her job as well they shouldn't be allowed legally to fire her...
But also... let a person grow and evolve already. Let her put her past behind her and move forward. Not being able to find work and being lambasted by media are not going to lead to progress. Society is going to push this kid over the edge... and then who will take responsibility for her suicide?

Yeah, I'm not sure that legally you can fire someone for something they said while they were a minor, years before they even started working for you. She needs to lawyer up and seek advice.
I certainly wouldn't take that lying down.

Like others have said, I feel a bit sorry for her. What she tweeted was absolutely ridiculous but I myself have looked back at my Facebook when I was around 15/16 and even though it wasn't anywhere near as offensive as what Ellis posted, I said things that I would definitely not say now.
It's a really hard situation because the tweets are actually inexcusable but she was young and would hopefully never dream about saying them things now. But now her life is literally ruined and it's going to be very hard to come back from this

I mean they wern't joking when they told us in school to be careful what we post online
..this is where BB have to take some responsibility for things like this as well...if they had done some basic checks into things like housemate’s tweets, all basic things that are available to the public so easily as this seemed to have been with Ellis....?...then they could have made the decision to not put her into the house and not revealed why...and nothing would have impacted onto her personal life in such a way...

Their Salman, yes :idc:
As for the subject... I think in a professional environment you should have the right to privacy with social media and not have your tweets scrutinised, but I think you surrender that right the second you decide to step in the public eye. Silly girl.
...she didn’t step into the public eye though until BB made a decision to accept her as a housemate without checking any basic social media history, I presume...and then they’ve made the decision to immediately step her out of the public eye because of their inability to do basic checks...:I don’t care drinking coffee smiley as well inserted:...
...and ok, I didn’t know anything about Salman losing his job or for the reason why that happened...and I’m a bit stunned tbh...
I’m not entirely convinced McDonalds have a leg to stand on here. BB yes, because she’s in the public eye, but who the hell cares about the beliefs of the person typing your burger order into the till?

possibly for her safety also  i'm sure everyone in her town will know her now and i'm sure there's a lot that are extremely offended by her tweets regardless of her age. I am not sure myself whether she should have been removed from the house but because she has been, I think McDonals did the obvious thing
BigSack?
What does Luke S have to do with this?
..it really is a mess up by BB that’s quite unforgivable ...what she said was awful but may have been a stance she may have readdressed and revisited but now it’s something which will be very difficult for her to do that with ...what they did with their lack of input of any basic history check is quite dangerous imo...

Whole lives ruined just for saying/thinking the wrong thing.
Slippery slope?...
Today, this punishment is for people who make rude comments about women/blacks/muslims/jews/LGBT people.
It's done under the guise of 'protecting minorities'. That's how it starts.
Tomorrow that punishment will get extended to include negative comments about everyone else (In the name of equal treatment, it's only fair, right?)
SO NEXT: people will get punished for making rude comments about men/whites/christians/straight people.
THEN it will be punishment for people being rude about governments, politicians, corporations etc etc
SOON you won't be able to say anything negative without getting punished under 'hate laws'.
"Yeah but we need these laws to protect minorities from offensive comments!"
Do you really think the people who enforce these laws, the same people who have been literally bombing the middle east for years - you think they actually care about minorities?
Or do you think perhaps they are using minorities as an excuse (like some kind of human shield) in order to bring in new laws that will eventually be used to control everybody?

I think what the take-backs from the Ellis situation is that .... you need to be responsible for what you post online.
Many people think that, just because you are behind a keyboard, staring at a computer screen, that you are anonymous
and can say whatever you want without repercussion. This is not so. People need to learn that there are consequences to
their actions and it might not be pretty.
So everyone, be wary of what you post online, whether it is on twitter, facebook or online forum.
Think twice before pressing that 'submit' button. Enjoy your online experience, but be wary that 'Big Brother' is watching you !! (ironic)
You don't want to lose your job because your employer found bad comments you made online. (even if it is a Mac job)

..it’s not really about that for me, James...it’s more that two wrongs don’t make a right...it’s wrong to put someone in the house whose tweet history contents are that of hate speech, which essentially her tweets are...but it’s also wrong to not do basic search checks which would only take moments ...and those checks then meaning a housemate doesn’t become a housemate in the first place...but BB didn’t do that...they allowed the tweets to be made public almost immediately after launch ...and then ejected Ellis, so basically threw her to the public wolves...and that for me far reaches anything she has said, which it shouldn’t...?...they decided to make her a housemate so they have taken on a duty of care for her which they seem to be completely shirking and dismissing...especially as she is a member of the public and not of any celebrity or wiki status ....anything with Tila was a part of her, a public knowledge part of her as you say...all on wiki so down to the public and the fans to become aware of these public things..but not so with Ellis in the same vein at all...(...although obviously tweets are public..)...so why dont BB make themselves aware of such basic things which they feel will decide whether they then put someone in the house or not...social media can be a huge ‘hate game’ and I feel they have a responsibility to not expose someone to that game that they have made a decision to put into the house....because of their lack of any research...their wrong is far greater than hers I feel in its potential impact on her life...maybe an unpopular thing but I’m feeling they deserve to have been axed...

If they now knowingly employ someone with racist tendencies, especially after her sisters endorsement that it is true, they will alienate a large part of the community who may use their outlets.
It could be a franchise and affect the jobs of others should a boycott happen because of it.
It wasn't their fault, she is only one employee who has sent out a message they don't support which could bring their name into disrepute now they are aware of it.
