From the Reality Check podcast featuring Jamie East and the person who created Big Mouth and Bit on the Side.

Highlights include:
-Revelation that OJ Simpson was going to be on CBB5 but Channel 4 vetoed it
-Funny stories about Richard Desmond
-BOTS creator thinks it should have been axed 6 years ago
-He also thinks BB should and will be rested for a year and come back on ITV2

Loved Jamie's and Alice's time in BOTS and it's a shame it has been scrapped.

Altho tbh I remember not really liking Jamie anyway (he would always troll about Live Feed and stuff) and much preferred Emma and Alice.

I loved Alice I use to find her so funny. Like when she should have that messy asparagus psychic on nnnn. She had the last laugh though sis is on c4 presenting a show with a chance of a future

NOT axed in 2012 when it’s most successful years since BB11 2013, 2014 and 2015 followed.

to be fair BOTS peaked in 2012, I realise I've said this countless times but it never recovered when they tried to make it more "upmarket"

edit: unless he meant the show as a whole lol

Oh then that's a mess, the actual show got better after Brian left :skull:

He may as well have said it should've stayed axed eight years ago

I think that's what he meant, he said it came back too soon after C4 axed it and it should've had a rest, and viewer fatigue is why the ratings are down

tbf 2012 was the best year for the show (in terms of quality) since like... 2006? It all went downhill after that

Yeah, 2012 is easily the best year of the show (on Channel 5) in terms of consistency of quality between the series, whether the production values of the time helped that at all or not... personally I think only 2017 comes close?

He's right. Viewers had grown quite bored with the format when C4 ended it. Channel 5 only increased that ten-fold when they started banging out 3 series a year.

Omfg, I'm listening now and he said in the early days of channel 5 they had "Bobby Brown in the dressing room on the day of the launch but, due to reasons we can't go into, he ended up not going in". :skull:

I wonder who was his last minute replacement. :think: Probs Jasmine Leonard. I still refuse to believe she was ever a first choice.

The guy he's talking to has good ideas.

Needs to be rested, if it comes back it needs to stand out again by stripping everything back and also changing every facet of it. Brand new location, format, presenters etc.

I agree. Remove all of the bells and whistles, stages, lights etc and go simple. Maybe even make it a completely pre-recorded series without any viewer interaction, just the housemates playing the game.

But definitely NOT the US style editing/episode format. I detest US reality shows for all the talking head/narration bits.

All 3 of then held talks at some poi by in the shows history and at one point they honestly thought they could get Whitney bit she decided to get clean instead.

Bobby Brown quit in 2011 a few days before entering

And Bobbi Kristina quit in 2013 after receiving a lot of hate mail after being leaked which was the same year Big Boi decided to not enter in the end

Brilliant podcast. d=Had the chance to listen to the episode while on my commute to work. So good to be listening to Jamie again. It's always interesting hearing from the people behind the scenes. I'll catch up with the previous episodes, love to hear his take on punchgate.

Can we please address one of the juiciest details to be exposed that seems to have gone over everyone's head:

Who's the BB12 housemate who has killed a man?

I'm not sure if he was talking about BB12 or CBB8. But I believe he meant BB12, as I think I remember him asking this question when he was trolling the housemates in the one-on-one interviews on BOTS. :shocked:
