Why would they want to waste money like that though, that doesn't make sense

Because they didn't intend for the original to play so well to the crowd it played well to (incels).

For Alf: The soy latte feminist boy did not say that the original isn't a good movie. It is a good movie. That was used as wank fodder by a LOT of men who did not understand what they were watching. It was not supposed to be a Redpill power fantasy. If they've corrected that perception with the sequel - which it sounds like they may well have done - then I applaud them wholeheartedly, no matter how low their metacritic rating sinks. Bravo. I hope the silly billies who got off imagining themselves as the Joker in the first film left the cinema early, in tears. I truly, truly do.

For reference you could take both Fight Club and American Psycho as comparisons.

I love both of those movies. I love both of those movies because I have the media literacy to know what the message of those movies actually is.

However I also know that there are a lot of wee boys out there wetting their knickers imagining themselves as Tyler Durden or Patrick Bateman... Not realising that - like Arthur Fleck - these are pathetic, miserable and broken characters who you are not supposed to hero worship .

Meh, I watch movies for entertainment, I dont get involved in background noise around them and I dont know why anyone else would either

Quite right Cherie, why bother enjoying any analysis of a piece of media when you can just shut off your brain and gawp at the screen for a couple of hours?

Each to their own, I do a bit of both to be fair. Rewatched "Dude, Where's My Car?" last weekend; a real modern masterpiece.
