View Full Version : Will Changing the voting system to VTS make you switch off

I have been really enjoying this series, but I just can't continue watching an interactive reality show where the voting system is changed to favour a particular brand of housemate half way through the series. What its basically done is remove some controversial characters early, then change the system to keep others.

Whats the point of watching a viewer interactive show where the producers are showing bias toward a particular conclusion. I won't continue watching if its changed. Poll incoming

Producer manipulation has been going on for well over a decade and is part and parcel of most reality shows, so long as it is in the interest of enhancing and protecting the series I couldn't care less, in fact I encourage it. The public need to be saved from themselves

It should never have reverted back to vote to evict in BB14, let alone last year, let alone this series. So I'm glad they've done this, I just hope they rig it

Even if it benefited my favourite it seems silly to offer a vote change mid series. I understand trying new things but this just feels like blatent manipulation.

I will still watch but should it change to VTS I will not vote again.

...it’s probably the last series I’ll watch so I’ll watch until the ‘era’ ends for me ..whoever remains in and whoever doesn’t...whoever wins and whoever doesn’t...

Personally I find it unfortunate the poll makes this about only Lewis.
Vote to save could help many.
Hussain fans, if he has many, cannot really help much in a 3 way eviction.
It's not just about Lewis.

I voted wrong on the poll anyway, I voted yes in a rush as a Lewis fan but should have voted no.
I won't switch off and am a Lewis fan.

These loaded questions in polls just confuse.
So I stress here.
No, I won't switch off with vote to save

I have since I first watched BB, supported vote to save.
That way of voting for all housemates, not just one, is the only real means for supporters of a housemate to be behind them all the way through.

I really do wish, as often people in a rush re work etc; that polls had a way of itchanging your vote when you've voted the wrong way.

Especially with such loaded and personalised to a single housemate, (out if 10 housemates left), choices in said loaded question.

I agree with this, and it would irritate me if they change it at this stage in a blatant attempt to keep a certain housemate; I would feel the same way whether it was someone I supported or not.

I would have preferred VTS from the start with VTE for the viewers' nomination, but don't believe it's fair to change it midway through a series.

I only vote when a particular result strongly matters for me, rather than every time, and would do so even if they change it. I intended to vote this week but must admit I will feel I've been a little bit cheated if it changes to VTS now.

It won't stop me from watching though, as I have always watched the whole series no matter what. If I didn't, to me it would feel like watching half a film or reading half a book and stopping part way through, depriving myself of how the story develops and ends. That would feel frustrating to me as I'm already invested. As Ammi said, I think that's particularly true with this being the final series, and I want to make the most of it whilst it's still here as I will feel sad when it ends.

the producers already had a twitter poll and people wanted to keep VTE, so now they are asking the question again in an unregulated poll .... doesn't take a brain surgeon to know what the result is likely to be

there is a valid reason for including it because a vote to save vastly improves lewis's chances of survival to the final. It's also interesting to see if the poll shows a preference for voting system based on the house mate that is supported

Yes, wish I hadn't.
With the Lewis addition to it, it is possibly, in my view, loaded to get the anti Lewis response.

The vote to save, if it was voted for, will be in place to the end of the series, whether Lewis js still there or up for eviction or not.

It applies to all housemates not just one singled out at all.

jaxie
17-10-2018, 10:11 AM
I will probably switch off if they do this as to me it is cheating and it takes away the point of the entire show. It is no longer you decide, it will be the producers decide but get you to spend your money on votes that have no meaning since the outcome is already determined.

Although I prefer VTE because it is more true to the premise of the game, I would have had no problem with VTS if they had done this from the start, but bringing it in half way through is grossly unfair and will likely change the outcome on Friday. Let Lewis, Tomasz, Isabella and Hussein have the same circumstances and chances as the other housemates who have been evicted Anamelia, Lewis, Isaac and Kenaley.

Yeah I’ll switch off if they do it. Not only is it a cheap transparent move that backtracks from their production step ups, and not only is Lewis and Cameron ruining the last ever show for me, but it’ll still kill me that this was introduced so late when we could’ve used it to keep the likes of anamelia and Kay in

To be fair, if Vote to Evict keeps up then controversial characters will be the only housemates voted out. Then you’ll end up with a finalist group of mostly floaters (Brooke, Cian, Zoe, Sian). At least if people like Lewis, Thomasz, Hussain or Akeem stay then so does entertainment.

I don’t think they’re doing it specifically for Lewis, but rather they’re thinking ahead to what types of housemates they feel would make an entertaining final.

Yup. Because I am sick ****ing sick of the manipulation and its more transparent than usual this time. Between the only showing misery/Cameron or paranoia/Lewis (interchangeable really) and this transparent attempt to save their fave..its just pathetic.

I would be VERY surprised if they admit that evict won the poll tonight. And they don't have to admit it either. Which they know.

I have been losing interest for 2 weeks now really. But this was kind of the straw that broke the camels back.

I am generally a huge fan of VTS too and think it should have been VTS in all the series' that it hasn't been, this series would have been great if they asked us at the start of it. But Cameron and Lewis are genuinely ruining the show for me at this stage..and those making out that its not being done to save Lewis are really kidding themselves tbh, so turning off won't be hard at all. Honestly, even if they do somehow admit that VTE won, I am chance to give in with it anyway

It can't even be claimed that its because they have realised VTE gets rid of bigger characters, they KNOW this already

I think even if VTE wins the poll they'll still lie to the viewers and make out VTS has won . They don't want their pet Lewis getting evicted .

The tool bag has nothing else to give , I've already switched off . It's draining & boring just seeing the Lewis & Cameron show.

I'm convinced Lewis is having sex with a few of the producers , he has some connections as everything is always going in his favour . His mate Cameron has his place in the final as well. The arrogance of them both as they always think or know they'll be safe .

Honestly, the end result between VTE and VTS aren't all that different. The only reason distinction is that with VTE you at least have the chance to kill off your godawful Marcqks before the finale.

We're obviously never going to agree on this but for me at least, while VTS is not foolproof by any means, as a general rule it's a much better safety net for the bigger characters! I *think* I did this last year but I could definitely make an exhaustive list of the amount of evictions where the wrong person has gone in a VTE, there is way less under VTS

Except it's not obvious - because as I've already pointed out, I said 'the public need saving from themselves' in the context of an entire post about producer manipulation on reality shows. I don't like public voting, I think production teams are well within reason to step in to prevent them from damaging a series, and that's my opinion. No, it suggests that in my opinion (a key phrase that really isn't necessary), the public vote sucks and if the producers (of any reality show, again you're not paying attention to that) can step in to limit its impact for the benefit of the overall series then so be it. Nowhere in that have I passed judgement on what other people want. Others can think what they like, but obviously I think my opinion is right, it wouldn't be much of an opinion if I didn't believe it would it? I couldn't care less what you believe either way, as I said before you can read into it however you want, but you and I both know you're wrong

Sis tens of thousands have already switched off over the last few weeks, and I'd be willing to wager the dire eviction order has played a part in that
