View Full Version : How long should BB take a break for?

It might be a very long time but considering how it was on for so long, its inevitable it will be back ONE day, although we might be talking decades (I doubt it would be that long but yeah)
How long would you say the ideal length of time for BB to take a break for? I'd say at least 4 years like Australia did, maybe when Love Island dies down, maybe c4 could bring it back in 2025 for an anniversary or ****ing hell imagine if c5 took it back as soon as Ben Frow left :hehe:

3 years maybe, and then 20th anniversary on Netflix :flutter: something completely new to celebrate the anniversary for the franchise

Take a year off and come back in January 2020 for a celebrity series...overkill on Channel 5 has destroyed the ratings! The show needs a rest.

Come back next year on channel 4

Probably in 2021 when the LI hype dies down, and I don't see The Circle lasting that long as well...

honestly, in Germany they only do CBB now, since 2011 that civilian BB got axed there in favor of the celebrity version Promi Big Brother
and yes CBB has a whole different more fun vibe, and the recent CBB they had gotten quite good celeb signings i thought

5 years by then hype should be back and LI fever would have probably died down not to mention new celebs for CBB seeing as they have currently run out and are having to constantly recycle the same ones.

I'd hope no more than one year.
I think any longer than that, it would be too easy to just then fully consign it to TV history.

I'm surprised by people saying 1 or 2 years, are you not completely exhausted with the way channel 5 have milked the show?
Or have you not been watching for long?
Greg!

A 1 or 2 year break and then a return with one celeb and one normal series a year would be enough of a rest!

OMG who's going to be still interested or remember it in 5 - 10 years , i'll laugh if it's STILL the same crappy format or if it's deteriorated and gotten worse !!!:joker: . It would be embarrassing if they had 5 years or a decade to perfect a good decent BB on a fresh new channel with brand new professional presenters and they still BALLS IT UP!! .

Well, it's not about still being interested, it's about 5-10 years being long enough that it can come back practically brand new with a new modern format and attract a new audience.
The show as it was died a long time ago. The show is horribly dated.

Exactly what i've been saying
I always think they MILK it too much with 2 CBB's aswell as a Civilian each year .There's no time to rest , there's no time to change things for the better or come up with fresh new ideas. It's just out dated and stale . And production have made a mess of it :notimpressed: .

This issue we run into here is the longer the break is, the more likely it becomes the house will be torn down, and once that happens, the odds of another broadcaster taking it on becomes a lot smaller.
It's either going to be gone for a year or a decade, I fear.

leave it for 2019, did an Ulitmate Big Brother 2 in summer 2020 and that’s it for that year and then return with one civ and one celeb in 2021

I think best case scenario would be if they left it in 2019, did an Ulitmate Big Brother 2 in summer 2020 and that’s it for that year and then return with one civ and one celeb in 2021
they at least need a year off (and in that year we can watch other shows) and also a replacement for Rylan :idc:
ultimate big brother 2 as the 20th anniversary would be cool

If Netflix want it, they should just get on with it. None of this waiting around nonsense.

Rylan will probably be kicking and screaming and super glue himself to the studio chair , he's so desperate to stay . I'd love another presenter !.

It’s old hat now.A thing of the past.It was at its best in the naughties.Since then it’s been like flogging a dead horse.
Let it die.
It should’ve died gracefully after C4 ditched it tbh.

Good point! The regular BB has become stale because contestants have sussed out the strategies to get air time, and BB looks for the same types--explosive ones, rage-aholics, weirdos, etc. It's become so predictable. However, CBB has a whole different flavour.

IMO it needs a few years break at least.

The ideal scenario for me is it takes a break for a year, and returns in 2020 on Netflix with a whole new look and the US format (:xyxwave: to the public vote)
In reality though it probably needs 3-5 years away

It doesn't need a break. it needs a return to its original (simple) format with the live coverage. Those things combined with a good mix of housemates is all this show has ever needed.

And honestly I think this is the most realistic option. Netflix, if they're taking the format, aren't going to wait around. They'll strive to get a series out for 2019/2020, and I imagine they won't want the headache of a public vote having not done that before. The US format is a lot more insular, and if they keep the editing of the UK version, I think they can definitely retain the show's fanbase (to a degree).

There should never be a celebrity series of Big Brother ever again.
Make it the summer of 2020 for the civilian series to kick start again!

Something else it needs. A brand new location.
it needs five or even ten years, bringing it back anywhere in the next few years won't help the show

also this, If it were to start new again, moving somewhere else would help
