Of course they're not, HO doesn't air at peak times because it would be destroyed by the competition.

Both will be on catch up for me so
Not in my house they won't.
But as a Northerner, I hope Corrie kicks arse.

I always wanted them to swap characters around occasionally... so one day the Mitchell brothers could go up north on 'business' and call on at the Rovers Return ...
Donkeys years ago I suggested that Dirty Den could have a meeting with Mike Baldwin in the Rovers but they missed that chance ..
Imagine the scope for storylines !!
Seems an obvious thing though try given both shows are struggling for audiences..
I stopped watching them when they started telling us the storylines before the shows aired and we lost all the intrigue and anticipation for the next episode.
Just a thought .... I'd certainly watch anyways !!
PS .
Thinking about it the Americans have tried it .. doesn't the Flash make guest appearances in another superhero show and vica versa ?

I have often thought it would be fun to have a mish mash of the soaps like the characters meeting other soap characters, it would make a great Xmas special.

I really don't know why they haven't at least tried it ..
It's not as though they have 20 million people tuning in like the old days ...
They could mix up the business men , have scenes with the tough guys from both meeting up .. guys from one chatting up the good looking women from the other ... Endless opportunities .

They did a half hour episode for children in need a few years ago where Eastenders and Corrie met eachother.
I don't know how canon it was (I mean they made Liz from Corrie into Kats mum so ) but it was a fun watch.
Watching EE for Alfies deathHow festive!

I think I remember parts of that ,I think it would be a fun thing to do more often.

See that's how ridiculous things have got ... the fact that you know that a character is going to die is bad enough but they tell you how and when .
Back in the good old days when 24 million tuned in twice a week we still had all these events and deaths but every Monday night at 8pm the episode ended with you holding your breath until Wednesday at 7:30pm .. then that episode ended at a tense moment and you were left anticipating the next episode the following Monday

You have to read text in context :)
I was replying to another comment .. read it again and go after the other guy ..
The facts are that soaps tell you what's gonna happen weeks before .. which is a pointless concept for a drama ..
Have you never realised ?
Back in the days of real drama and intrigue and ANTICIPATION there were over 20 million watching every episode ...

That real drama and intrigue of Kathy Beale's knitting machine breaking down. :hehe:
There were 20 million viewers because there were only 3 channels my love.

The Mel and Ray storyline.
Wasn’t expecting this for NYD but kinda here for it. They really need to pull it out the bag because if it’s anything like the monstrosity of the last one..
On BBC One, EastEnders attracted just four million viewers – its 19.6 per cent share was the lowest for the soap since records began.
This is despite the episode being WIDELY PUBLICISED as featuring the biggest action stunt in the soap’s history after the Mitchells’ and Beales’ camping trip ends in disaster.
Happy days , eh :)

Not an article from 13 years ago...
If we're plucking random figures from random episodes...
The first of two episodes broadcast last night was watched by 10.84 million with a peak of 11.9 million. While the second episode drew in an audience of 10.3 million and peaked at 11.2 million, according to ratings specialists overnights.tv.
It commanded more than 44 percent of the TV audience and viewing figures were up on average by several million. Last Thursday’s programme was watched by 7.1 million people.
The BBC soap also became the most-tweeted about episode ever recorded with rapped viewers sending more than a million messages about it on social network Twitter.
Happy days , eh :)

I'll likely not be watching either.
If I do it would be Corrie.
EastEnders is depressing normally throughout the year, at Christmas it's usually even more so.
Ridiculously so.
So I'd hope Corrie wins.
