I honest to goodness love Scarlett. I only cut her because there wasn't much to write about Tom and Jen (who I care the least for on those on the list), Topher's writeup would just exhaust me and I knew he'd probably be culled this round anyway, and I didn't particularly want to cut Dawn, Scott, Gwen, or Blaineley. So I thought "well Scarlett's almost definitely not gonna reach the final so I was as well ensure she gets sent away with the love she deserves"

and that's what I've decided to do.
Scarlett's a great character and was a new take on an 'antagonist', if she could be called one. Aside from subtle nods to her psychopathy in her audition tape, Scarlett's true intentions were revealed over time, and while I sadly wasn't too shocked as there was a leak before the TDPI episodes even aired in Italy (although I did watch them in Italian! I was too impatient to wait a week oops) that spoiled pretty much the whole of TDPI (I remember dismissing it when I saw "Shawn and Jasmine will be the main coupe of the series" but then I saw the intro and was like "... huh. Scarlett's really gonna be a villain!", it was still interesting to see her turn from a somewhat awkward brainiac, to someone who just seemed to entertain Max for the fun of it, to being not as nice as she seemed (her passive aggressiveness towards her teammates who didn't understand her explanation of Monkey See Monkey Do ("use...little...words...Scarlett....!!!!") :love: her practically threatening Topher :love:) to being a villainous mastermind was thrilling and a storyline that didn't dominate the screens. I think it's an unpopular opinion to like TDPI, but everyone had their own thing going on without overshadowing anyone else, and that's apparent with Scarlett, IMO.

Yeah I dunno what else to say because I could sing praises for Scarlett all day long. Love you girl x

And Scarlett would've absolutely made the final if I didn't nominate her. I'd argue she's only behind Jasmine for most unanimously popular of PI

A gay king! Him & Jen were amongst my favorite teams in Ridonculous Race and I was a bit gutted that they were early boots. They weren't really relevant to the plot or good competitors, but I did enjoy their scenes whenever they had some. Him along with his partner were just cute background characters for me who I have no real reason for liking :love:

Blaineley
Blaineley isn't particularly special not irrelevant as a character. I'd probably even prefer her if she stuck to just presenting the Aftermath - as it wasn't until she became a contestant that she started to lose who worth as a character. She wasn't relevant to many plot points, she didn't deserve her spot in the competition and just overall not that memorable.

I'm surprised she got this far, if I'm honest.

The only reason I did the final passes for the actual winner vote was because there's only two rounds of nominations in this game, so a final pass lasting 5 sets of nominations is just a but pointless.

The difference with the BB Rankdown is there were almost 400 contestants to rank as opposed to 80 something.

Now in all fairness I don't dislike Scott. But when I take a look at these NINE other nominees, he's suddenly trash by comparison and I don't know how I as the second last to save/cut was the one to get rid of him. He also should've been out much sooner, much like the other 9 I previously nommed when it was my turn.

This kind of bugs me a little, but Scott's RoTI debut is so swept under the rug nowadays, simply because of his AS portrayal being much better received. I make no reservations about it though; Scott in RoTI was AWFUL! Someone who goes out of their way to lose challenges just to 'give the other team a false sense of security' is not a threatening antagonist! And no amount of melodramatically brash confessionals about how evil you are can change that. Scott as an antagonist borders more on cringey rather than creepy.

And outside of being a poor antagonist, did Scott really have any other merit as a contestant? Heather, Alejandro, Courtney, Sugar, the Ice Dancers and even MAL all still had traits to them apart from being villainous when that role was their's. It makes Scott so bland and uninspiring for me, and him and Mike were the key offenders at ruining RoTI and making it one of my least favourite seasons. The amount of exposure given to Russell Hantz in denim was too much. What makes Scott's bland unlikeability more upsetting is the antagonists RoTI could've had instead of him. Jo or Lightning were much more entertaining as villainous characters than Scott ever was but for some reason he was still favoured and got all the way to the final 4 despite having ****ty strategies and no friends for the entire duration he was there.

He easily would be a bottom 5 character for me, but then AS rolled around and suddenly I and many others were liking him! He was funny, charismatic, and incomprehensibly STUPID, and in a season that was stupid already, he fit right in and was a welcome drab comic relief in an otherwise dreary season. But a decent season to follow on from an utterly abysmal one does not save Scott from this obvious cut, so I'd still say he's a mediocre character that's more of a 60-64 than a bloody 31-35!

Don't get me wrong, the Ice Dancers were one of the better teams of RR. Every series needs its villain, and they played a good role in that, but to be quite honest I think Jose was much more effective as a villain than Jacques and I think she shone more than he did. Not sure why, he was just less impressive as a character.

Sugar just didn’t click with me as well as the others did.
I think what killed her for me was the whole ‘being gross’ shtick, which put me off Owen. Maybe it’s a shallow reason to dislike a character, but yeah, it meant that half the time she was on the screen, I wasn’t enjoying her.
I did find her funny that aside though. I dunno why, but the line “WAIT that’s just Scuba bear-“ when Bling Bear is introduced makes me laugh for some reason :laugh: (shoutout to Scarlett asking “Isn’t [Pasta Bear] just Bling Bear wearing a-“ :love: )

Sadly her comedy was situational for me and I wasn’t too big of a fan of her ‘gross’ traits. And she didn’t have any notable interactions with other characters (besides that odd alliance-members-turned-enemies thing with Sky post-merge but meh :unsure: ) or truly any ‘story’. And in a thirteen episode season, not everyone needs full development or story – especially not comic relief (and a good one, at that). But when I can find myself not liking Sugar for her comedy and there’s not much else going for her, I have to cut her now. She’s got a respectful placing, IMO – and while maybe she should’ve been cut next round, there’s no guarantee she’s being nommed. (Although on that note, I simply liked other characters a lot more than Sugar out of the list of noms – I was only possibly gonna cut Dwayne over her.)

And then he got with Bridgette. I actually really like them together, and there's no denying that they are the IT couple of Total Drama, having been together since TDI. I actually think sending them out early in TDA was a great idea, and they excelled hosting Aftermath. That's why I think it was a silly idea sending Bridgette into TDWT but then I guess they needed some story. Bridgette's shtick of 'I have a boyfriend!' became tiring quick, despite kissing Alejandro and then profusely apologizing to Geoff about it and idk it was just so BORING.

Josee; the best fictional character/reality tv contestant of all time? I think so! She is the Makosi to my Daniel. The Charley to my Hayden. The Saskia to my RileyH. A perfect contestant, and when I watched RR in 2015 I was genuinely overwhelmed at how often she (& Jacques too</3) blew me away. For the longest time, I was trying to find the easiest way to summarize this, but I think what makes the Ice Dancers stand out for me above others is that over the course of 26 episodes, I can't think of a single line by them that isn't funny, dramatic or hugely affects the season in some way.

They also are my favorite villains. Lots of people like to judge antagonists just based on their actions, but I think how they act on the whole and how entertaining it is should also be taken into account. Characters like Alejandro or Heather or Courtney are always playing games, but the Ice Dancers play THE game if that makes sense. Their devotion to winning the season was always full of passion and comedy, and it was breathtaking to view even though it was all animated. I think why it works so well is how much of a balance between comedy and drama that was given. When The Ice Dancers are sore losers about something, you never know if it'll be played for full-on laughs featuring Josee hurling and destroying equipment while Jacques bursts into pathetic tears (<33333), or if it's gonna be actually quite sad and reveal stuff about them. Unlike the other antagonists of the show, The Ice Dancers aren't necessarily bad people. They were just raised from childhood to be the best they can be at competition, and it's taken a toll on any sanity they have, and as funny and goofy as they both are, there's always an air of tragedy you can see about them. With Jacques, he's very effeminate and easily offended about things, and him dropping Josee at the olympics and causing them to get silver means he's always on edge, and even slightly missing being the best brings back all the PTSD he previously had. Josee is even more hard to think about. If you pay attention to the dialogue, she paraphrases her forceful and even more abusive mother and the slogans she'd be saying; 'Bronze is the medal of FAILURE!' . They also give her other vulnerabilites like her claustrophobia, how she hates getting help, how her competitive ego overpowers her own proper judgment. She's a hilarious character full of passive-aggressiveness or full-on tantrum violence, but it goes deeper than that. She feels like a real person, not just some comic relief. Even Courtney and Heather, for as complex and well-written as they are, still always have this cartoonishness to them. And don't get me wrong. Josee and Jacques are super gimmicky, but they have a read-between-the-lines feel to them that I haven't seen in really any other characters.

But apart from the complexity of both, they're still hilarious every time on screen. Even after watching RR more than three times, I still scream at the unexpected chaos they have in pretty much every comedic moment on screen.

There's so many other things I hadn't even mentioned. The Ice Dancers were used in just about every possible role and excelled every time. Their rivalry with the Police Cadets is my favorite interaction in the show. Their comedy is constantly energetic when incorporated. They were used for a long number of storylines compressed within just 26 episodes; being cursed with not being able to win first place and desperately trying to re-claim it. Forming a reluctant alliance with the Police Cadets that they would inevitably break within the episode after<3. The redemption throughout the season that shows their inner struggles, like how Jacques motivated Josee to punch Kitty's flashlight while being claustrophobic, cheat, get a penalty and still get first place :joker::joker::joker::joker: , and the time Jacques had to sacrifice his hair to get rid of grease so his team could catch an emu was genuinely heartbreaking, cause it really shown how much they were willing to sacrifice to win. Truth be told I was actually quite sad when they were eliminated, because even though I predicted before the season began they'd inevitably get third (silver at the olympics, bronze in RR), it still shown how much it meant to them and how much it felt like they lost. They even decide to want to become better people... followed right by Josee drowning an innocent elderly woman in a fountain :laugh2: .

All in all, the Ice Dancers, particularly Josee, are still my favorite contestants/characters to ever grace my screen and I can never get tired of them. I challenge anyone rewatching RR to keep special attention on them because there's so many empowering and iconic moments that require hindsight to really enjoy, which can't be said for most characters, and mont and blurry are putrid COWS for what they did and i hope they know how silly they look now!

samey is a bland, forgettable character who relies on her sister to be remotely interesting. The idea of a good and evil twin with one stealing the other's identity sounds like an interesting idea, but it being done in a 13 episode season with 14 contestants just makes the whole thing rushed for me. we're also meant to think samey is some sort of likeable character, but is she ever exactly nice? we're only meant to feel sorry for her, and that doesn't make for a rootable character. Their dynamic was pretty funny on rare occasions, but the only times I actually liked Samey were situationally where she did random **** like poisoning her sister, or the amount of drags her team always threw about her while she pretended to be Amy. But she's still an utterly mediocre character around far too long. Josee would frown upon such forgettability!

I'm honestly surprised he's the last cut before the final? Was Dwayne really worthy of being one elimination away from the final? (THAT'S RHETORICAL DON'T ANSWER THAT I DON'T WANT PEOPLE CHALLENGING ME!!!) He was problematic and a nice contrast to Junior, a and so they worked well together. For when there was a moment you wanted to shout "YOU FOOL!" to Dwayne through the TV screen, there was another moment were you sympathise with him, because he clearly tried with his son. And we actually got to see that be paid off in their elimination, with a mutual respect between the two was established.
I kinda wish we saw more of Dwayne and Kelly, because they were a laugh together for the very few scenes we saw them in :joker:

Is Dwayne bad? Not at all. A messy dad who tries his best with his son. I just couldn't justify putting him in the final above Ryan, Alejandro or DAWN! I never found Justin too interesting of a character. He was generally unlikeable - and someone that was hard to root for. I did t find him more interesting in TDA as he had more of a relevant storyline than 'the hot one everyone's in love with', but still wasn't enough to Mohave me rate him too highly. I think he probably should've been out before the final, but this placement is justified in comparison to everyone remaining.

I find him pretty much ‘meh’. I can appreciate that they utilised a character who literally said like, one line (or two) before the TDDDDI special.

Who would’ve thought the silent guy who got eliminated fourth in TDI would become one of the major antagonists of the following seasons? Definitely not me. Sadly I just didn’t find him too intriguing as an antagonist. Once Courtney stepped in he took a backseat, especially since his looks and charm, his main tool for manipulation, stopped working on people at that point.

His 'manipulation' was weak, at that, in my opinion. He only really effectively used manipulation to guilt Gwen into throwing the next challenge for her team (which was bull**** if you ask me, Trent chose to throw the challenges, Gwen was fully against it - sure the Grips didn't 'believe' Gwen's version of the story but Gwen was not responsible for Trent's actions) and using Beth and Lindsay for votes, and that strategy stopped when they stopped finding him attractive.

And that's when I realise Justin is not as good as a villain as I remember. He sounded too cocky and arrogant in regards to his abilities and strategy, but his strategy was relying on two team members in an alliance and barely putting effort into challenges. Sure, he organised a "guys' alliance", but Duncan practically took hold of it and orchestrated LeShawna's elimination himself. And after that? Justin was eliminated.

Despite being a bad gameplayer, he was at least interesting, and it was good to see his character be developed in such a way that has barely been replicated when early cuts have returned for other seasons (see: Cody just being Cody in TDWT; Tyler and Noah not doing anything noteworthy or having any growth in TDWT; Sam literally just being... there in TDAS).

Justin is a character I ranked over some characters I arguably like more by virtue of him being more developed and 'interesting' than the others. I certainly like Justin, but I don't hold a high opinion of him.

justin was honestly my least favourite total drama character am not doing a big write up but he was literally the most irrel person in tdi and didn’t say anything then in tda he thought he was t’star sorry luv no, he was way too big for his boots and tried to manipulate lindseh & beth but the legends outlasted him by a good bit, see when you do clownery!

One of the most underrated characters in the whole show. Justin gets a lot of flack in both of his seasons I feel is very uncalled for. He may not have spoken much in TDI, but I thought his jokes were pretty funny and less bothersome than Ezekiel, Noah, or Katie and Sadie. But in the TDI special, he was one of the best there! People think his jump to a villain was random but 1) we didn't know enough about him for it to not make sense and 2) this special was a way of transitioning him anyways. Watching him mess with pretty much all of the cast was a great subplot to have and a highlight of the episode.

Then in TDA, he got even better. Like I mentioned with Josee and Jacques, to be a good villain you don't necessarily have to be a successful one, just an entertaining one. I'll never get why Justin got so much critique as a villain just because he ended up failing. If he ended up being the main villain and always successful at what he did, he'd not only reduce Alejandro's merit but it also wouldn't make sense for someone of Justin's intelligence. It makes more sense to show that using your looks can only get you so far, and that that novelty can wear off. And another thing I loved is that only did they make him a hilarious, goofy comic relief out of this, but we also learn how self conscious he is. Justin is someone who never had to work for anything in life and thought his looks could get him places, but eventually there reaches points where he has to figure out how to try other means of accomplishing things and it makes him quite the complex character.

On the humour side, I don't get how people can't laugh at moments like Beth thinking they were all being kidnapped and Justin trying to calm her down by asking her to look at his face, her to cry and him to turn scream "OH NOOO! I'M HIDEOUS!" or his elimination, where after being subjected to gory and violent moments of pain for the entire duration of a FAIRY TALE episode, he rants "With me gone this show just got 80% less beautiful!" only to smash his face at the limousine and sobbing "Alright, 79!"<33333333 He had lots of other funny moments too and I encourage you people to watch TDA back to truly realise how fantastic characters like him (and Harold) are. Well deserved of my final pass
