Total Drama Character Rankdown 2019 (TWENTY THREE)

There will be a set amount of "rankers" in the game, who I will choose from whoever is interested to take part. If you want to be a ranker, make sure you are committed to writing detailed write ups in the ranking, are active to take part, and have seen most or all series of Total Drama. I'm not sure how many watch, but that'll be determined shortly. There won't be more than 10. Double the amount of characters than other rankers will be nominated for elimination each round by one ranker (took in turns) - each ranker will then SAVE one character and ELIMINATE another, giving a writeup of 50 words minimum for them, which can be edited into their post at a later date if need be (however it must be before the round is over). I've lowered to 50 words because it's going to be much shortly and there's shorter seasons.

The nomination process needs to be done within 24 hours of the previous round ending or else the ranker will be skipped, they will also be skipped if they fail to submit their eliminate/save decisions.

Once it is the ranker's turn to nominate, he or she must PM me their characters they wish to put up. I will then find their corresponding icons and begin the round. Once the round begins, it is very much a first-come, first-served basis with who gets saved, and who gets axed, so it is important to get in early if you think someone you love is in danger!

Each ranker is given TWO #FinalPasses which will guarantee the character of their choice into the Top 34. In addition, the rankers are given ONE #SaveAndReplace which can be used to save an additional character nominated and replace them with someone of their choice, this has ONE use also. Given the nature of the game, your #SaveAndReplace will have to be used quickly once a new round of nominations is announced, to make sure your chosen saved-housemate doesn't get eliminated by someone else. Once a #SaveAndReplace is announced by a Ranker, the round will freeze so the new "replacement" can be edited into the remaining nominees. You can only use your privileges on nominated housemates.

Once the top 20 are reached, each ranker will rank them from best to worst, with a small writeup and the average score will determine the final rankings. Each participant will have equal say.

Rules Reminder

Ugh yuck. Why is such an obviously poorly written character so bloody popular? While he definitely isn't my actual #84, Noah would've glided through to the Top 15 of this rank with ease no matter how many times I would've nominated him so it gives me great satisfaction that he's no more. For the record, he's not an all around terrible character. Unpopular opinion, but I actually liked him best in Total Drama Island. At that point, he was the same nasty, selfish, lazy deadbeat he was in all the other seasons, but in this exception, he gets called out on it and even voted off early for it, and therefore is a much funnier character because you can laugh at him. In the special, there's less of this but it was fun to see him team up with Eva and Izzy and... y'know, do something of importance. Which brings me to World Tour, where he gets glorified by people as one of the best of the season, but why exactly? All he does is sit around and make one or two one-liners per episode and is still just as much a background character, if not more than ever. And on his team, Alejandro, Owen, Izzy and even Tyler are just way more interesting and fleshed out personalities than he ever was. He also caused Owen to dump Izzy after complaining about her behind her back like the sad bitch he is despite him supposedly being friends with her :nono: .

And then... there's Ridonculous Race :facepalm: . When asked what my favourite season is, it is usually this one by a slight margin, but whenever I think of Noah's involvement with it, I question why I'd put it as my favourite. Although Noah is suddenly an important character in this season, on rewatch you can notice that he's still somehow pretty unmemorable and not that much of a screen stealer. But what's actually offensive about this is that he's still at his most insufferable somehow. I don't need to go into the Nemma storyline that much because it's already been discussed many times, but my god I've never cringed in annoyance as much watching the show as I did with this couple. Noah falls madly in love with her because he sees her do a flip(???). What's worse is that this awful robotic personality he gets from this relationship transcends onto Emma and completely ruins her character and team for me. The independent, emotionally confused law girl was gone for a few episodes and replaced with an emotionally love-driven weirdo. It may have been in-character for her based on her previous relationship but it's not funny or paced at all. When I think about it, Noah and Emma were basically TD's take on Steven and Kimberly in BB15 :skull: .

But no, my real problem with Noah is how badly he treats Owen. They get regarded as this ultimate best friend duo of the show but it really isn't. Don't believe me that Noah's a terrible friend? Well:


he force feeds Owen spicy food against his will
he laughed behind his back when he drew him in Paris with the judge and then wouldn't even let him see the picture
he responded to being playfully teased about Emma to punching Owen as hard as he could :skull:
he refused to save Owen's life when he was nearly eaten by a crocodile + when his eye was literally on fire
he constantly undermined Owen's abilities despite him usually being the one who had to save the team from being out after Noah kept screwing everything up


All in all, Noah sucks and isn't likeable despite the attempt to paint him as such. Bye bye loser!

What's worse is that this awful robotic personality he gets from this relationship transcends onto Emma and completely ruins her character and team for me. The independent, emotionally confused law girl was gone for a few episodes and replaced with an emotionally love-driven weirdo. It may have been in-character for her based on her previous relationship but it's not funny or paced at all. When I think about it, Noah and Emma were basically TD's take on Steven and Kimberly in BB15 :skull: .

But no, my real problem with Noah is how badly he treats Owen. They get regarded as this ultimate best friend duo of the show but it really isn't. Don't believe me that Noah's a terrible friend? Well:


he force feeds Owen spicy food against his will
he laughed behind his back when he drew him in Paris with the judge and then wouldn't even let him see the picture
he responded to being playfully teased about Emma to punching Owen as hard as he could :skull:
he refused to save Owen's life when he was nearly eaten by a crocodile + when his eye was literally on fire
he constantly undermined Owen's abilities despite him usually being the one who had to save the team from being out after Noah kept screwing everything up


All in all, Noah sucks and isn't likeable despite the attempt to paint him as such. Bye bye loser!

I guess my true hatred of Harold comes from TDI when he took it upon himself to mess with Duncan by voting out LEGEND Courtney. Which was stupid bc they'd only been really talking a few days and I've always wondered that if he was gonna rig the votes like that why not get out Duncan or any of the others that were picking on him? Would've made a much nicer time for him in both the game and the lil resort where Court was ready and waiting for him :love: OH and if they lit saw him rigging the votes why did they do nothing :oh: Court was robbed and we all know it. Before that tho I guess Duncan and the lads were kinda horrible to him, but he was annoying and deserved it so it's ok. And the showmance with LeShawna OH MY GOD was it cringey and ngl made me hate LeShawna for a lil bit. Just awful.

Can't really remember much about Harold in TDA / TDWT apart from when he killed Duncan's tarantula and when he got a deserved early exit in World Tour (maybe the real reason it's my fav season?) I do remember when LeShawna kissed Alejandro (good for u sis x) and Harold sang that one song on Aftermath (which is lowkey a bop I ain't even gonna lie, not in my top half of WT songs theaux). Ant's Cameron Write-Up

Cameron:

I think a bit of my dislike comes from how heavily associated he is with other people, namely Jo and M*chael.
He was pretty bland until his conflict with Jo and when he wasn't being antagonised by Jo, he was palling it up with M*chael. But while their friendship was 'sweet' it wasn't interesting, especially since Cameron seemed to use M*chael as some sort of lab rat, making notes on him (before he even agreed to help M*chael with his illness). When they make friends, Cameron accidentally tells Scott about M*chael's 'MPD' and doesn't really help M*chael besides observing what M*chael's been growing up with all his life (like I think M*chael knows Vito comes out when his shirt comes off Cameron...)
Beyond M*chael and Jo, Cameron is just a smart kid, and he just sounds... fake ("THE ODDS ARE ASTRONOMICAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" any time something coincidental happens is just grating).
But then there's his friendship with Sierra. It could have been nice, but he was just used as Sierra's fixation. He was pretty much turned into Cody for All Stars. He did have a cute friendship with Gwen, but as usual, he had no development. Also there's this picture of him which is enough to place him 83rd:

I dunno how many of you I actually told this to, but I used to hate Rodney so much that he was my all-time least favorite of the show :laugh: . But hey, when you have the Stepbrothers, Ezekiel and MIKE (who should've pissed off much sooner), suddenly he doesn't look so bad by comparison. However, I hate him less then where he was an utterly pointless and repetitively pathetic character, and more so now for him being what an ACTUAL annoying version of Dave is; in that he's so painfully unfunny god end it now! Watching Pahkitew blind, I actually did think they were pairing Rodney up with Jasmine... buuut then he attracts himself to Scarlett and Amy for no real reason other than him only living with male family members at home. The result is a stalker creep with nothing better to do with his life. And what was the point of this? It was the same gag every single time he was on screen and somehow within 4 episodes, he gradually saturated things even worse as time went on. The sad thing is Rodney could've been a great character with a lot about him to enjoy and relat eto. The 'hormonally attracted teenager' is an obvious stereotype that I'm surprised it took TD so long to do, but instead of giving Rodney much of a personality, he's instead generalized to a single joke that got unfunny after 1 episode. Definitely my least favorite of a cast that I otherwise don't mind.

A disappointment! I went into Pahkitew Island thinking that Amy was going to be a Heather-like mastermind antagonist but instead she was just a regular mean girl. She treated her sister horribly and was just so unpleasant to the point where I just wanted her OUT!

Luckily she didn't last that long with her elimination being one of my favorite eliminations ever, in which her sister poisons ha with an apple and switches spots with ha last minute as revenge! And just like that sis was gone! :devil: (even though she briefly came back as a swamp monster to attack ha sister but me caring when she got BLASTED away again after that :dance:)

Not much to comment on here. Not a bad character by any means, but not intended to be one worth remembering. Beardo's gag had its perks, although I never really found it as funny as Leonard's spells, or Staci's lies, or even B's silent jokes. I think if he lasted any longer, he could've been another Rodney, so I'm glad they kept him to one episode. It's a shame that RoTI and PI's shortened run-times meant they needed to invent characters just to be out first. And sadly Beardo was this choice.

Some might call it a joke. Some might call it hate. I call it the truth. I mean, no, Leshawna isn't one of THE worst Total Drama contestants, but she's among my least favourites in the list Epic gave. In a similar way to Epic cutting Noah for fear of him sailing to the end, I cut leshawna as I k ew this would probably be my only chance of seeing her go before the Top 20.

Now, my problem with leshawna isn't that she's an awful person, it's not that she's poorly written, it's just that I didn't connect. There was nothing pulling me to root for her, and she had a rivalry with one of my favourite characters - Heather.

Leshawna is also known for her relationship with Harold - another's of my least favourite characters of the series - probably my least favourite of all time. It's just not a relationship I found enjoyable to watch and it took away from Leshawnas character more than it added to it.

He looks like Waluigi, which is probably why I prefer him a lot more than Chet. He's generally annoying, but he and Chet getting along after a while was cute. Truth be told, I just don't find him interesting, but I also don't dislike him. He's a bit annoying and fits a stereotype I can't quit put my finger on. But uh, yeah, Lorenzo. He had to be cut this relatively early because there's people more deserving to rank above him. Oopsies

I actually don't hate him unlike everyone else, he was a cute first boot in TDI and his storyline in WT with his refusal to go home was cute and something I enjoyed (altho he did kinda ruin the ending). After that he's made sporadic appearances for cute lil filler episodes but the reason I'm really cutting him is because HE. MADE. ANNE. MARIA. QUIT. Giving a fake diamond and making the poor sis think she was too good for the show, ugh we needed her on All Stars. RIP Anne Maria :(

I don't know if it's just me, but when the first episode of RR leaked, I HATED the Adversity Twins. It's no understatement that they really were pointless rip offs of Cameron, an already mediocre character, and it seemed so obvious that they'd be the typical underdogs we get every season, meant to do impressive feats that will somehow """""surprise""""" us. And I suppose the Twins were sort of predictable like this, but what was the real welcoming surprise was that they weren't as terrible as I thought! In the first episode, they're notably a lot more annoying than they would be in episodes after, but because this is RR with so many teams, they got pushed to the wayside like a team like them deserves. And in small doses, they were actually a pretty funny team, even likable sometimes. Lasted slightly too long, but not nearly as offensively as scrotes such as the Stepbrothers and Noah.

However, I'm still cutting them because they still were potentially annoying in the rare times their gag was repetitive, and aren't really meant to be that memorable or impactful of a team so may as well be out now. I'm also glad Jay is out first, because he's clearly the whinier of the two and had slightly less funnier scenes.

65 - Ellody (Ridonculous Race)

I actually liked Ellody as she interested me but that doesn't change the fact that's she's super irrelevant. While she did talk way more than her partner Mary, she still wasn't able to make an impact on her season. Similar to Pete & Chris McLean, she's only really remembered for being a higher-pitched, less volatile version of Courtney. However, she was still a cute background character who I wished was more relevant in Ridonculous Race.

Looking at some of her best bits though she did have a few funny moments, such as mapping out all ha data in the sand just to build a sandcastle only to have then waves wash it away :laugh:

Lightning: I really never know how to feel about Lightning? He's arrogant and self-absorbed, that much is constant, but I feel like he was forced into a villain role. And I think that comes from "Eat, Puke, and Be Wary", when he starts antagonising Cameron for 'stealing' his immunity. Lightning being angry about this would have been in character, but I can't help but feel like his borderline bullying of Cameron was over the top and, dare I say, out of character. It would have maybe been comical for me if it built up a rivalry akin to Jo vs Lightning, with the 'drama' coming from how Cameron is intimidated by competitive environments. Instead, I felt sort of, uncomfortable? Even if Lightning is arrogant and self-absorbed he does look out for others occasionally. ironically an episode previous when he warns Cameron of Jo. Does Lightning benefit from warning Cameron? Not particularly (in a sense, it does prompt Cameron to send Jo down in smoke, but Lightning isn't that smart or strategic - I think he was warning Cameron of Jo because he's nice). Now, perhaps I could excuse Lightning's comments as competitive banter gone too far, but Lightning remarks, "...your whole life's gonna be a mental challenge!" to Cameron which is... extremely threatening. I appreciate it was a fight and they were both being physical, but the aim was to pin them down, not cause such trauma to the brain. It's a line that I feel uneasy about, regardless of how it was said, when it was said, and who by. But, in my opinion, it adds a layer of "Lightning is nasty!" to his character. But that conflicts with how he was earlier - a likeable self-absorbed idiot who, when he wasn't thinking about himself, could look out for others. Which did pair up with some nice one-liners ("I'll save you little girl!" and "uh... Lightning don't judge!" (when he thought Jo was a gay guy). His rivalry with Jo was a bit grating for me, but I also found that it was one of the more interesting conflicts and I would've liked to see a few more episodes of it in All-Stars (in a perfect world with a larger cast and 26 episodes... oh a man could dream). So what I've said is pretty conflicting. I like Lightning, up until episode 11 of ROTI. But after the events of that episode he becomes unbearable. He goes back to being somewhat likeable in All-Stars, but there wasn't much there for him, besides him reigniting a conflict with Jo that never came of much do to him being cut early on in the episode. Seeing Heather/Gwen/Alejandro get annoyed with him in 'Evil Dread' was funny though, I'll give him that. TL;DR? Lightning became unbearable in the later episodes of ROTI that I ended up rooting for Cameron over him. I truly felt like they made a bully out of a likeable jock for no other reason than to quickly establish another villain for the next season (because really, how was Lightning anywhere near a villain in episodes before 4x11?)

He's fat and eats. That's literally his character. It's a stereotype we've seen before and will most definitely see in the future. There is literally nothing else to him, why he's so popular I will never know. I get that the majority of the cast are supposed to be stereotypes / caricatures, but they have something else to them that helps us root for them. He won TDI by coasting all season, flopped in TDA before being brought back as a ~mole~ (god whoever came up with that deserves a bullet to the head) which flopped anyway because he was ToO nIcE to sabotage. And then TDWT.. hew? I can't remember a single thing he did bar get his fat ass stuck in the windows. Thankfully we didn't have to endure him in AS but that didn't stop him from coming back for RR :rolleyes: Owen & Noah are an atrocious pair, STOP it.
