probably no champion this season then, and also no one relegated

and you can't blame anyone since this virus is a natural disaster

They will surely just present Liverpool with the league .. lucky for them in this of all seasons they’re absolutely miles ahead of second place so there can be no bitching from City .

Being serious though this will not be good for Arsenal though as they've now got to wonder if anybody else in the team has become infected by being in contact with Arteta.

And the sheer fact that Arteta could actually die from this disease, hopefully that won't be the case, but it is cause for concern.

And Liverpool were so close :hehe:

I think that would be wrong though as Liverpool have earned the title this season imo.

The fairest thing to do imo would be to give Liverpool the Premier League title and have Norwich get relegated with Leeds taking their place as the current leaders of the Championship, and Norwich more or less already relegated from the Premier League.

My idealistic version would be to have a 23 team Premier League Season where the top 3 of the Championship take on the current Premier League teams and we end up having a mass relegation season to bring the number of teams back down to 20.

Either way I think that Liverpool should be declared champions.

Referee/VAR/higher up mistakes since the restart.

England:
1. Failing to give Birmingham a penalty against West Brom for handball
2. Goal Line Technology glitching against Sheffield Utd to stop them from beating Aston Villa
3. The EFL effectively relegating Wigan Athletic for having financial difficulties because of the Pandemic
4. Tottenham having their goal wrongly disallowed for "handball" maybe Moura should've just let himself fall face first instead of trying to protect himself.:joker:

So regarding relegation:

Norwich is pretty much done, they would need a miracle to avoid relegation. They would need to win every remaining game and West Ham, Watford and Aston Villa would need to basically lose all their remaining ones for them to survive relegation.

Brighton has a 9 points ahead of the relegation line. Their remaining matches are Liverpool (h), Man City (h), Southampton (a), Newcastle (h) and Burnley (a). They need 6 points at most to be completely safe.

West Ham, Watford, Aston Villa and Bournemouth are most at risk of relegation after Norwich. Aston Villa and Bournemouth more as they are both 4 points behind of Westham and Watford.

Westham's remaining matches after Burnley (h) tonight are Norwich (a), Watford (h), Man Utd. (a) and Aston Villa (h)

Watford's remaining matches are Newcastle (h), Westham (a), Man City (h) and Arsenal (a)

Aston Villa's remaining matches are Man Utd. (h), Crystal Palace (h), Everton (a), Arsenal (h) and Westham (a).

Bournemouth's remaining matches are Tottenham (h), Leicester City (h), Manchester City (a), Southampton (h) and Everton (a).

I'd say as Bournemouth has a horrible end schedule, so I predict they are going to be relegated 2nd. Aston Villa has the 2nd most horrible end schedule + they have quite a bit of injuries, so I'd say they are the 3rd team to be relegated. Plus both of their 4 point disadvantages are huge.

We had a few years of comfortable mid table and a decent 7th place a while ago but we've always the potential to slip up and get caught in relegation battles. Probs a combination of too many manager changes, failed signings and not enough investment really

Winning a league title is the decider of a big/proper club? Mighty Preston, Blackpool, and Notts forest suggest that may not be the case. West ham have been crucified by their current ownership, and that stadium move in particular. On the day Klopp was appointed, Thierry Henry said Liverpool wasn't a big club anymore, so things can change round pretty quickly.

West ham produced a great generation of players recently with Ferdinand, Cole, Lampard etc. If football hadn't changed so much, there's a good chance they would have kept those players and won a title or 2.

I'm really quite sad for Norwich.

However it's great to see West Ham putting together some solid results at the right time.

I know MTVN has been concerned, however never underestimate teams in possible danger of relegation.
So keep it up West Ham.

The behind closed doors play has altered expected results it seems for some as well.

Oh dear, poor Aston Villa.
Only joking Mock, I don't mean it's poor at all.
Then again is Grealish more interested in a Man Utd or other club move than them now.

Aston Villa's win over Crystal Palace makes things interesting. Especially if West Ham loses or ties with Watford, then loses to Man Utd. and at the same time Aston Villa gets good results from their matches against Everton and Arsenal (between 2-6 points), West Ham vs Aston Villa on Sunday 26.7 could be the deciding of the final relegation spot.

Would be interesting.

Blackpool won a First Division/Premier League title.

It seems like every team has won a League title before us.

:joker:

Tbf people can support whoever they want, they're only Football teams afterall.

And I agree Joey on feeling sorry for Norwich, they sadly were out of their depth and they kept trying to play attacking Football like Man City even though they were clearly more suited to counter attacking Football.

Well done to West Ham though, they've showed a lot of fight since the restart.

Oh and has anyone seen that Grealish dive against Crystal Palace? It beats all of his other dives by a mile, priceless.:joker:

With regards to VAR, they've got to stop drawing lines on the screen to judge offsides.

It can't be judged accurately when you work out how far a player has travelled in the space of a 1/50th second frame.

Arsenal vs Watford
I don't see Watford beating Arsenal at London after Arsenal's loss to Aston Villa. Watford's performance at home against Man City was weak and it does not look for them. Arsenal might be angry/buffed and probably want to finish the season with honor and try to crush Watford in their home field.

West Ham vs Aston Villa
West Ham might not have motivation to try so hard as their PL spot is solidified now. Aston Villa needs be ahead of Watford at any cost and will try for a win. Trezeguet seems to be on fire and Reina seems to be too. These two players might be the key to Aston Villa victory over West Ham who really have no stake in this game.

Everton vs Bournemouth
Everton has no shot at anything, but they probably want to end the season in a high and beat Bournemouth. Bournemouth desperately needs to win and will try everything to get it (which could lead to mistakes). But they would also need both Watford and Aston Villa to lose their matches. If this was a home game for them, their chances would look okay. But as it isn't, I do not see them making it. Everton probably wins through Bournemouth's mistakes and having a better squad.

Chelsea vs Wolverhampton
Chelsea needs to beat Wolves to guarantee a CL spot. Wolverhampton needs to win to secure a spot at the EL Qualification round 2. Could see a tie happening. (Things will change a lot regarding this match if Chelsea beats Liverpool tomorrow)

Leicester City vs Man Utd.
Winner of this match is guaranteed to play in he CL. Loser has to play in the EL. Tough game that has a high chance of ending in a tie.

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham
Tottenham needs to win to have a shot at making to EL Qualification round 2. They also need Wolves to get a maximum of 1 point against Chelsea. Tottenham probably wins due to better squad and Crystal Palace not having enough motivation towards the game.
