Personally, I don't mind who is experienced or who isn't. Karim is the one I find the most entertaining.
But I also like Chris, who is a beginner and also very likable.

The show needs a mixture of both, some people just have a natural aptitude as well so even with no previous experience they progress

no one has real latin, ballroom dance experience anyways :hee:
but i guess singers, actors all have some form of experience
and yeah it would be boring with only beginners, duds
Exactly. And they're all trying very hard, so they have my respect.

Like I said if people want to kick up a fuss and demand " zero experience dance virgins" then strictly will never be able to have actors, singers or any other showbiz celebrities taking part.
Because it's impossible to have a competition without some dance background unless you just want news readers & politicians ?. :idc:
If you want anyone from the entertainment industry or a fit athlete then chances are they'll either have the stamina ,or the dance experience so they'll have that little advantage?. But Either way they still all have to learn new dances & work hard .
And there's always the diversity of different contestants from walks of life which is interesting for the viewers.
I personally don't care ,I just hate the hypocrisy & double standards. Some celebs get a hard time& others get off Scott free for their dance experience ,just isn't fair . And the debate seems to happen every year.

I've been saying this for years.
If the BBC insists on 'celebrities' and the public want no experience then it severely hampers the type of people they can get for the show.
Sports stars are a bit hit and miss, Newsreaders are usually terrible so where else are they gong to get 'celebrities if actors, singers and showbiz personalities are ruled out due to previous experience? Last Lee Ryan had experience but was terrible so no one ever comments on him. The show needs to evolve and the viewers need to get over heir obsession with 'the journey'. Its noticeable that none of the four best dancers ever to be on the show IMO won - Danny Mac, Faye Tozer, Ashley Roberts and Natalie Gumede.

Of course people never say anything if the dancer is bad or unpopular like Lee Ryan , but anyone with a theatre or musical background will likely have some experience. But some are just better than others.
Also some celebs have natural rhythm & others have 2 left feet  .
I like the mixture we have .
Yeah every sports person is different, look how terrible James & David are .
But then there's some amazing performers we've had in the past like Colin Jackson & Mark rampakash . But sports people usually have the discipline.
Gemma Atkinson did kick boxing so she had a strong core ,but her dances were hit & miss.
I like seeing people try but I enjoy the good dancers , and as you said it's an entertainment show and shouldn't matter .

It's an entertainment show, this is why Karim is my favourite. But I also like to support the underdogs.

I like to see a good mix but my faves are somebody who has ootential but then goes on to be good. I don't mind the ones who have dance expeience though

I just like who I like on SCD, I take myself more seriously with my favourites on TXF out of the talent shows because there's more at stake so I like to see someone who gave out memorable performances whilst being able to hold a note to win.
My favourite so far on Strictly is Will and he is a middling dancer in terms of his technical ability, but I have no issue with dance experience either.
