1. Donna
2. Rose
3. Bill
Disclaimer: Bill didn't have anywhere near the best series, but I found Amy progressively irritating and Martha was let down by the actress.

Hmmm Clara is my favourite character who has BEEN a companion, however, I think she was "elevated" a bit too much to be a "good companion", if that makes sense. Jenna Coleman would have made a great first female doctor IMO, in an alternate universe.
So it's Amy > Rose and Clara is in there somewhere but I can't decide where.

Smith > Tennant, is fact
AND Capaldi has some great episodes, just messy overall.

2. Rose
3. Martha

Donna had the most interesting story line of any companion tbh, her ending was SO sad too..
Rose was great in series 1, but she got annoying in season 2. If if wasn't for the iconic Jackie, she wouldn't be 2nd.
Martha was good because she had some balls and had some of the best episodes of the entire show during her series. Its a shame her story line was the 'shes not rose' story.
Bill was great too but she was done dirty with a crap storyline and being with capaldi
Marsh.

Erm Capaldi was great!!! Just Moffat let him down with crap scripts.
He actually came into his own with Bill, Missy and Nardol. Once Clara had stopped hijacking his show.
Clara was the worst.. she was so dull and I swear she did about 8 series

It's weird. Certain parts of her story are great, and Jenna is a really good actress (if not the strongest companion actor NuWho has had) but it didn't translate into the most interesting one. They were done dirty by some of those appalling episodes.

Also Bill's transformation to Cyberman was up there with Donna's exit as very effective.

Probably the strongest episodes of the series - the first time in a long while I’d actually been gripped and excited by a DW story.
that miserable puddle lesbian girl ruined what could've been a good ending for Bill
Marsh.

:joker: Bill could've done better.

I loved Bill, wish she was still there instead of ... whoever the current ones are.
But as for her exit, I think it would have been more effective if she'd have remained a Cyberman, or died as one.

Why do both of Moffatt's main companions end up having to spend the rest of their lives travelling through time and space with someone they hardly know :joker: and they both had some form of death before this!
If they knew she was just a 1 off character for that series they should've given her a really dramatic, sad ending like with Donna
Marsh.

She effectively did. Her ending was basically Moffat's version of an afterlife.
