[Detective Constable John Forster praised
residents for handing the money in last year]
[Detectives have solved a
five-year mystery after two
"good Samaritans" came forward
to reveal they had been the ones
leaving bundles of money for
people in a former mining village.
Thirteen bundles of £2,000 has
been left in random locations in
Blackhall Colliery in
County Durham since 2014.
Durham Constabulary went
public last year to try and solve
the mystery and now,
less than a fortnight after
Sky News featured the
mystery on New Year's Day,
two people have come forward
to the force to confirm they
have been leaving the money
to help people living in the village.]

is it me but would it not be better to find out who in the community are in the greatest need and then get it to them as there is one dog walker who is walking about like Huggy Bear and smoking the finest cubans

I mean I understand the motivation but if an addict finds £2k in a bag, they're probably going to be dead a couple of days later. Just a thought :umm2:.
If you want to anonymously help a community... fund things like modernising playparks, clean-up efforts and other local amenities.

That's a good point actually, it is quite odd and sounds like someone who is a bit eccentric leaving the cash
