Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman present the launch of Strictly Come Dancing 2020. They will be joined in the ballroom by judges Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood and Shirley Ballas and 12 brand new celebrities for what promises to be an unforgettable night of dance.

As well as revealing this year’s pairings, there will be two spectacular group routines from the Strictly professionals, a very special music performance from Joel Corry and MNEK, and the return of reigning champion Kelvin Fletcher.

The costumes are ready, the shoes have been polished and the ballroom eagerly awaits, as Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman host the first of this year’s live shows.

The 12 celebrity and professional dancer pairings take to the dancefloor for their debut performances, hoping they have what it takes to impress the judges and viewers at home.

Their performances will be critiqued and scored by Strictly judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse, but they will all escape the public vote until next weekend.

Expect entertainment, drama, plenty of first-night nerves and of course lots of dancing - the quest for glitterball glory has begun!

Shirley Ballas has issued a warning to Strictly Come Dancing favourite Maisie Williams.


EastEnders actress Maisie is already being tipped to win this year's series.

Maisie, partnered with professional Gorka Marquez, previously won the show's Children In Need special in 2019.

However Strictly's head judge Shirley has issued Maisie a warning ahead of the first live show.

She said in an interview with The Sun newspaper: “I know she won the special but if I was Maisie I wouldn’t take anything for granted because doing one dance is not like doing ten weeks.

"You’ve got to be there and you’ve got to be full on and you’ve got to go the whole nine yards."

Shirley added of the celebs' first dance in Saturday's launch show: “You could see the competitive spirit, you could feel it. These people all look like they were at the starting block, ready to move forward.”

they did a ballroom in week 1, and its Katya not Karen

and i can see Nicola struggle at the latin dances, kinda found her bit heavy footed in that streetdance which is not bad for that dance maybe, but for latins such as Cha Cha, Samba, Salsa, Jive you need to be a lot looser, lighter on your feet

HRVY looks decent, nice rhythm, spins, maybe a little more work on the straight leg

Maisie struggles this week, everything is soooo hard, needs to be a lot softer, lot more glamorous, stylish, classy

Bill looks very good again, those arms, shapings very great and i personally cannot wait for tomorrow night when he starts waving around the poncho

Jason first days a bit of struggle, but later on footage of paso looks better so it could still also be a nice surprise tomorrow night who knows

Jamie lacks swivel, all other stuff of charleston looks good, but if you got no swivel, craig will mark you down so he could be in trouble again

Max, homer's belly i feel sorry for him to have this theme, i mean it is fun but it is very difficult

Nicola looks kinda bit heavy, rather than slick and fast you'd expect with Jive, yes this could be her first big struggle and a lesser score maybe

As always, Caroline and Johannes remained positive as they said their goodbyes.

When asked if she'd fulfilled her childhood dream of being a dancer, Caroline said: "Yeah, in a way slightly more than that, because I have had the honour and privilege of working with some of the greatest dancers this country has ever known. I mean I really believe it, I think they are absolutely fantastic. But of course my greatest gift coming on this show is this man [Johannes]."

Johannes was also grateful for his time with Caroline, saying: "Oh my gosh, what a woman, thank you, thank you again, thank you, thank you, thank you. I don’t know what to say, because it was a beautiful one, I had a beautiful journey with you, thank you my darling, thank you."

We've absolutely loved watching this fantastic duo perform every weekend, have you? They'll be together for one last time on It Takes Two on BBC Two at 6.30pm!

I'm genuinely looking forward to seeing how JJ does with the Charleston, it's the first time this series where it looks like he has genuinely pushed himself.

Reflecting on his Strictly experience, JJ told Tess: "I’m unbelievably proud. I never thought I would make it this far, I've gotten half decent maybe at something which I had no clue about to begin with and I've enjoyed every second of it, it has just been an absolute blast. It's just a privilege to be in this long. I mean this competition is insane! To be counted among that cast at this stage in particular means the world to me. It's meant everything. It's been an unbelievable challenge, well outside my comfort zone, but I've had this one [Amy] to just keep me in it and I can't quite express what she means to me."

Amy also had emotional words for JJ, saying: "It has been an absolute honour to be your partner and most importantly friend, throughout your Strictly experience. He is, and everybody would agree, one of the world's most truest gentlemen. I honestly believe from working with JJ over the last few months I've become a better person and I've learned so much. The way he faces challenges with such strength and determination, you have helped me for the rest of my life on how to face my own personal challenges. And honestly I'm so proud of every single step you've performed on this floor, I just had the best time."

These two have really inspired us every week and have delivered so many gorgeous routines! Don't miss them together for one last time on It Takes Two, 6.30pm on BBC Two.

i have enjoyed each ep loads again almost like normal, but even more

Nicola got bit of argentine tango, and some dances she didn't get to learn yet

JJ about the showdances, all of them look amazing apparently, and he said he's excited to have a front row seat

Jason loves it to be back, strictly got a fan for life in his daughter too whom had continued to watch even after he got eliminated
