Today

[The Spending Review will include details
on public sector pay, NHS funding and money for the
devolved administrations in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
Mr Sunak will also set out the extent of the damage done
to the UK economy by the coronavirus pandemic.
The government's Covid response has led
to huge spending and borrowing rises.

The chancellor is expected to begin his statement
at around 12:30 GMT following Prime Minister's Questions.]

One area he could upset
is the Foreign Aid which is at 7%
some reports say he may reduce that to 5%

He can't touch payments to the devolved governments and the NHS is off limits as I don't think he'd dare suggest it. So yeah, I'd say shamefully the public sector will be hit and aid slashed. Mind you slashing aid while negotiating trade is a risky business.
I think he'll go for tax hikes and an interest rate cut.

Sunak is currently a bit of a "Golden Boy" when it comes to this current government, he seems to be the only one who's competent and liked by the general public, and I wonder if he'll be able to keep that popularity after this budget, obviously some people are gonna be pissed off at him.

But either way I still think he'll be PM within a year or two.

Foreign Office minister resigns as Sunak cuts aid budget...


Boris Johnson was struggling to contain a Conservative revolt as a Foreign Office minister resigned after the chancellor, Rishi Sunak, announced he was breaking a manifesto promise by cutting the overseas aid budget by a third and ending the Tory commitment to spend 0.7% of gross national income on aid.

Lady Sugg, whose brief includes sustainable development, submitted her resignation to Johnson in protest against the cut.

Sunak insisted the cut reflected people’s priorities at a time of unprecedented economic emergency. But Sugg, a close ally of David Cameron and enthusiastic advocate of girls’ education, did not appear at the Lords dispatch box to answer questions on the aid cut that formed the most controversial measure in Sunak’s spending review.

He's a charlatan and I've always viewed him as such. His smug face was everywhere when he was dishing out eat out to help out (he even got his own branding), but he disappeared off the planet when it contributed to the 2nd lockdown, and it was time to feed kids.

...it was asked not to be cut by charities because it could be a very permanent measure for people living in aid reliant African countries.....as opposed to the defence budget that seems to be a plenty and would much more be a ‘temporary measure’ thing to look at...
