Such sad news but I did think last night when his friends and family were with him that there wasn't much for him. He did a fantastic thing raising so much for the NHS and was a shining light when we were in the dark

...Sir Tom Moore......such a life and a man to be celebrated...to live to his 100th year and achieve so much for others in that final year alone...and then to receive his own knighthood...and his end of life weeks to be spent with his loved family on a trip that will mean so much to them...such a wonderful last chapter to his incredible life story....a beautiful soul......

Bless him, very sad for him and his family. He did a lot of wonderful things in his final year though. Inspired many and raised almost £40 million.

I never understand these things, same when 'stars' die, all the lovely things are said when they are gone

this should have been done when he was alive surely

If tom could have kept fundraising at his current pace, until he was 149, he could have paid for Dido's disastrous test and trace.

I say we take all the money he raised and hold a massive funeral where we can gather together and mark the end of covid

...Tom’s family say that they hid so much online abuse from him because it would have upset him so much...and obviously it didn’t contribute to his death at all and he wasn’t even aware of it etc...but online abuse is becoming so extreme and awful, this is a man who was having a final holiday with the family he loved...

Its sad that he received online abuse and his family were conscious not to make him aware of it.

Unfortunately he was a prime target for them considering his bouts to achieve celebrity over his lifetime and the fact that his "challenge" wasn't particularly challenging.

But no one has a right to be nasty and vicious to and old man like that.
