Yes so a professional survey carried out by one of the most reliable polsters in the UK

Do you not understand how polls work ?

You might as well have just posted "Meghan is unpopular because me, jet and rustygrill SED SO" and it'd be about as reliable :joker:

If we're pretending to take it seriously though one highlight from that polling was the youth and future of this country voting Harry a bigger role model than William :flutter:

To be fair it's the younger generation that's not only ruining this nation, but also the entire worlds well being, so you can see why the look up to harry and his selfish ways, rather than William.

Could you point out where it said the youth voted Harry a bigger role model in the article I posted? It didn't mention what youths thought of that....

[Brits also felt Prince William would make a better role model than Prince Harry.

Of those surveyed, 72 percent felt William would make a good role model compared to 6 percent who viewed him as a bad role model.

Prince Harry was viewed as a good role model by 31 percent and a bad role model by 36 percent.]

My fault. I mistakenly thought LT had posted the same one.

A quarter thinking William is a BAD role model makes it even juicier.

A quarter of the young with much less experience of life than older people.

What is much juicer is all other age groups think William a better role model than Harry by far - half of the over 50's, think he would be a BAD role model! Oh dear.

To be fair, you can't take polling of young people as indicative of future polling results once those younger people are no longer young... opinions change over time.

Neither of them are good role models of course - what a daft suggestion that they even could be. "My role model is a blueblood Royal who was born into unimaginable wealth :hee: ". It's not a realistic "role" to be "modelled", is it.

I think William and Kate are excellent role models, but I suppose dignity and dedicating your life to duty and service and doing loads of charity work and creating foundations isn’t what the youth admire, (and a few much older folk too, it seems.)
Vacuous, virtue signalling “mememe, look at wonderful meeeee!!!” all talk and little action celebs fit the bill better. :hee:

They are doing their job though. Dedicating their life to service is no different to any person doing the job they are paid to do. They are paid handsomely for what they do - if they didn't have the money and trappings they were born into they wouldn't be doing what they do. Personally, I don't think any "celebrity" type people are role models.

The role models I hope my kid looks up to are the local heroes who work for charities in their free time, provide hope to the hopeless and actually make a difference to people's lives. These are the types of people who should be classed as role models.

Not celebrities, royal or otherwise, who do their job, cut a few ribbons and endorse a charity whilst other people actually do the graft.

I don't think much to Princess Di - I mean, I can barely remember her but from recollections and clips etc she seems more like Meghan than the commonly-compared Kate.

But it’s not like any other job, is it? Always having to be on your best behaviour and dignified at all times, being gaped at and photographed wherever you go, having security tagging on to you every time you go out, the press always looking for you to mess up, endless boring engagements and charity functions, speech giving, research, tours, letter writing (I read a while ago that William and Kate write around 250 handwritten letters a WEEK between them (charity related, thank you’s etc)! Representing your country in such a prominent way is a huge responsibility.

Harry was born into it and look at him - he scarpered and doesn’t have a job to speak of.

It IS like a lot of jobs Jet. They have a lot of staff to help and then they go home to riches beyond most peoples imaginations.

Most people have to be up, get the kids ready, do school runs, look presentable, drive themselves to work, go to meetings, represent the company they work for, make presentations, do their own research, write their reports, letters whatever, pick up the kids, do the shopping, cook the dinner, pay the bills, worry about paying the bills, do the kids activities, make sure that homework is done, packed lunches are ready etc etc etc

The only difference really is the press, They have help with everything else. I think I would take having my picture taken in exchange for the wealth and trappings that the Royals and other celebs have

I have to say again, it isn’t the same.

Most people don't have jobs that involve meetings, making presentations, researching, speeches, reports etc like you describe. Many jobs are less taxing than that, thankfully. :hee:

Most people aren’t born with their role and job description decided for them, like senior Royals. They don’t have a lifetime of service to their country with a very prominent position of responsibility ahead of them. They can say ‘this job isn’t for me, I’m going to do something else’.

True, Prince Harry opted out. William and Kate could do the same, go and live in California and sell themselves at a big price for very little in return. But they don’t, they accept their duties with grace and dignity. They have the riches to opt out and not lift another finger for the rest of their lives.
In fact, all the senior Royals could say “have your Republic, we are done’ and still live lives of great idle luxury with their great houses, and unimaginable wealth. But they don’t.

They serve, as the Queen did for 70 years, as her heirs will do.
Yet you are critical of them, and favour Harry and Meghan. I don’t get that.

I wonder what would happen if the monarchy got abolished. I know it won't happen, but I still think when The Queen passes ..that Charles will NOT get anywhere near the support , that she has gotten for 70 years. And I think they'll be less royalists.

I don't think he'll be as accepted ,and he definitely won't be as liked as William when it comes to being king.

I think Charles will be the first nail in the coffin, depending on ... well not to be blunt but ... how long he lives, I think more people will have lost interest by the time it comes to William. Also the thing that interests people about them now is that they're still a young family. No one's going to be all that fussed for William and Kate in their 50's with teenage/grown up kids.

The best thing for the future of the Monarchy would have been for Charles to abdicate in advance, and the succession to go straight from Liz to William. Ol' Chuck was never going to give up his shot on the throne though.

I agree....and also like the Queen, Prince Charles, Camilla, Prince William and Kate, Princess Anne and Prince Edward and Sophie do.
They work quietly day after day, year after year to help others without being lauded for that work. How often do we hear of what they are doing unless you go looking in the official Royal site? People would be surprised at their workload.
Harry and Meghan can't do anything without instructing their PR to let the world know, releasing zoom call videos and photos.

There's a huge difference between an active monarchy (what we had for over a thousand years) and a ceremonial/token monarchy (what we have now). They won't instantly "abolish" it, they'll just lose interest. It's not even about not "liking" Charles, he just won't hold the public interest the way The Queen does or the way William and Kate have. He never has. People won't say "Booooo abolish it!!" they just won't pay much attention to it at all... becoming less and less relevant to British culture.

The truth is it's Queen Elizabeth II that's a huge part of "Modern Britishness" - not the monarchy as an institution.

Oh come on Jet....they put their name on things. As soon as something is Royal approved or has a Royal Patron they have automatic status. They have staff who do the admin, staff who do the leg work, staff who do the research, staff who make the calls....they may do a Zoom call every now and then. Please don't expect me to believe they are beavering away in front of their laptops doing charity work. They have staff. They may be the "face" of the cause but other people do the work.

Why do you always have to mention Harry? He's not a working Royal so inconsequential as I keep saying.

The real heroes are the ones who help their communities from the ground, the teacher who helps disadvantaged kids, the shop worker who works in a food bank in their spare time, the people suffering from cancer who run the race for life to raise funds to help others, the people who go out to feed the homeless. They are the role models we should be promoting to our kids, not rich folk who have people to do the hard work

I have a lot of respect for the Queen, she is a strong woman but a strong woman born into money who has, and always has had, help in every aspect of her life from getting dressed to going about her duties.

When I briefly lived down in Lancashire, we stayed in the bottom flat of a lovely old house that had been converted into two flats, and then two junkies rented the top flat on their Housing Allowance and put up England flags as curtains. True story. Luckily we were only on a 6 month contract and swiftly moved.

I've read far too many detailed Royal biographies (many of them by those who have worked closely with the Royals like bodyguards and personal assistants) to know what you say isn't really true Annie....and like any large firm, of course they have people to help them...we'll just have to agree to disagree on this, it's getting tedious.

Do it out the goodness of their own little 'earts they do... on the breadline 'emselves I've 'eard... claimin 'nat Universal Credits and not a word of complaint!

Well maybe, cos they don't need the money  the taxpayers only pay for their working expenses.
They could all throw in the towel and live in luxury for the rest of their lives with all their wealth and priceless art collections and big houses without lifting a finger ever again.

Trooping the Colour will take place today, starting at 10am. It will finish at around 12.25pm.
Beginning at Buckingham Palace, the parade will move down the Mall to Horse Guards Parade, joined by members of the Royal Family on horseback and in carriages.
The Parade will close with the traditional RAF fly-past, watched by the Queen and members of the Royal Family from the balcony at Buckingham Palace.
More than 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians will come together for the event.

It’s disgusting and beyond tone deaf. The country is hurtling into actual poverty (and not just the worst off, the entire middle class if energy and fuel issues are not addressed) and we’re celebrating inherited wealth and class elitism. Utter madness. It’s not even about the money being spent, it’s the message that’s being sent.

Platinum Jubilee live: Queen has given decades of 'continuity, stability and unity', hails Lord Mayor

The Queen has given decades of "continuity, stability and unity" during her 70-year reign, the Lord Mayor of London has said.

Lord Mayor Vincent Keaveny told the Prince of Wales and other royals gathered at a reception at the Guildhall: "She has been a great example of duty and public service for all of us. And for 70 years she has provided continuity, stability and unity. There could be no better ambassador for this country and for the Commonwealth.
"All of us here are very grateful for the service she has given and the way she has served as head of state - with dignity, devotion and a deeply rooted faith."

The reception comes after the service of thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral, during which the Archbishop of York praised the Queen's "staunch constancy" and "steadfast consistency".....

They should just have a Royal Big Brother, rigged up a load of camera's in buck house, have every main royal stay there for a couple of months, give them shopping tasks etc, vote to evict every week. It would be a world wide ratings hit. That would be the best way to determine all these royals' popularity.

Harry and Meghan met with loud boos in first royal event in 2 years

It’s not just the royal family giving them a frosty reception.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were loudly booed Friday while returning together to royal events in the UK for the first time in two years.
A small cheer initially greeted the exiled royal couple’s exit from St Paul’s Cathedral — just to be quickly drowned out by a chorus of shouted boos, video shows.

Similar booing broke out when the couple arrived for the National Service of Thanksgiving, their first public royal event together since officially quitting royal life two years ago.

Just like then, they appeared to get a frosty reception from other royals, too — with Harry’s brother, Prince William, and wife Kate sitting far away from them inside the cathedral.

William and Kate got the loudest cheers, followed by Charles and Camilla.

No it doesn't - because I was watching. I've seen people saying it depended on where they were standing in relation to the pealing of the Cathedral's bells.
There were initial cheers followed by loud boos.

The fact people actually turned up to this event and cheered, booed, whatever is sad to me. Massively over privileged and ridiculously wealthy (not earned either, i don't care what anyone says) people being worshipped, or hated. Each to their own i guess. I know it's not hurting anybody, celebrate the Queen and her family all you like, i'll just never understand it.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry just learned how unpopular they really are when they were booed at the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Ouch!

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were humiliated on Friday when they were booed as they both entered and left St. Paul’s Cathedral for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee Thanksgiving service.

Page Six reported that during the service, Meghan and Harry were seated far away from Prince William and Kate Middleton. They instead sat with Harry’s cousins Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice and their respective husbands, Jack Brooksbank and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

a member of the family in name only

A member in name only? She would howl like a baby if they took away her Royal title….she sat on Oprah and whined that the bad Royals weren’t giving Archie a title (he will get it,as will Lilibet) when Charles becomes King, that’s how it works. Why would she want Royal titles for her children if she dislikes Royalty?

She puts ‘The Duchess of Sussex’ on everything she does. If she didn’t want to be seen as Royal, she could simply use her own name again on anything she puts out.

She was obsessed with Princess Diana as a child, had books about her, and watched Kate and William’s wedding. Got her pic taken outside Buckingham Palace - she talked about all that in her blog before she met Harry, when she took it down.

It’s a hoot of a reason that you like someone just to ‘piss people off’. Which means you just like her for her actions (which you are mistaken about) not her as a person at all. Right?

I don't support royalty I support Meghan who is financially independent and a member of the family in name only

But she isn’t financially independent, is she, it’s her Royal title that is bringing in the big bucks - (but for how much longer?)

She doesn’t see herself as a Royal in name only: she makes sure her title is splashed prominently across anything she does when she could just use her own name; she whined and fumed about Archie not getting a Royal title on Oprah (which he and Lili will when Charles becomes King.) She wants her kids to be known as titled Royals SO badly. Even Princess Anne, the Queen’s own daughter, refused titles for her children.

She was a Royal fan on her Tig blog, which she took down when she met Harry.
"Oh Harry, I don't know anything about you or your family" :fan:

fainted.Nerves and no breakfast inside them. It happens to a lot of grooms standing at the alter on their wedding day.

The Queen would much rather be at Epsom for the Derby. She'll have to watch it on the telly now.
