so while looking forward to getting away I wasn't keen on all the extras attached to it now, that said Gatwick seems pretty relaxed when it comes to checking anything...
When we flew out, all we needed was our vaccination status as testing is not required as an entry to Spain, we lined up at bag drop, and a guy at the head of the queue just asked us if we had our vaccination papers with us and that was that, didnt check anything.
When we landed in Spain they just scanned our locator forms and that was it.
Coming back, on the Spanish side it was a different story, you needed to show your vaccination status, negative covid test and locator form, I couldnt get mine up on my phone and had a nervy 10 minutes trying to download the damn thing, we thought we would have to go through the same palava at Gatwick but all we did was scan ourselves out through self check out and that was it
so all in all not a bad experience, just annoying that we are 250.00 odd lighter for testing :idc:
with my luck, i would be stuck in a foreign country with no means to escape, so i will pass on international travel till it settles down

Husband of a co-worker of mine was stuck in Dubai for TWO MONTHS at the very start of Covid :umm2:.

When we booked there was no pre departure testing so we had to take a deep breath when that was reintroduced ...hopefully it will be suspended again soon
Day 2 tests are enough

Yes, the worry is being stuck abroad and not being able to come back.
I think I'll spend my holiday here in the UK for now.
Will hopefully go to Italy in summer.

Pre departure tests to the UK dropped  and lateral flow test required on arrival
All it takes is for everyone to say "no, fook off, we're not having it this way" until that day comes then you will do as your overlords tell you to do.
Going to Italy on Wednesday, trouble is we're due to drive through France to get there (fly into Geneva) :worry: France technically still banning UK visitors but thinking we'd probably be fine as we're just travelling through and will only be in the country for all of 45 minutes or so
Going with the parents and my Dad is of the 'risk it' mentality while my Mum is arguing to change our flights so we land in Italy instead..

if you have a GB sticker on the back you will likely be targeted by every french copper on the route

Haha I'm sure they would! We'd be hiring a car at the airport in Geneva though so hoping that Swiss numberplates might help us sneak through the country..
