True, and it was such a small and intimate ceremony with close family and friends so I guess that's a good point.
Just like Brooklyn Beckhams wedding will be a small and intimate ceremony with close family and friends, eh? Nice try though. :smug:

Right at the top of your own link;
"ANALYSIS: William and Kate's Caribbean trip shows it may be time to rethink Royal overseas tours"
Sounds like a PR disaster to me .
Maybe it wasn't how it appeared in the photographs but...... That doesn't matter. Public perception dictates Royal reality and the PR optics of their tour were simply awful. Too bad so sad.
More from the article;
"Time and again, the answer I got in all three countries was "feelings are mixed here".
:joker: not exactly a great positive spin jet. Did you even read this before you sneezed it into the thread?

Yes I did read it. All of it. I thought it was a fair and balanced analysis. You posted some negative bits, but none of the positive bits.
Like: Outrage thousands of miles from the visit, was getting more traction than the feelings of the people they were actually meeting,
And: Yes, there were protests - but also cheering crowds. (the protests were actually quite small, and Harry got the same when he visited serveral years ago).
Great negative spin though. :hee:
BTW Which 'optics' were simply awful that weren't put across in a way that were deceiving, and most now know were deceiving? As I said, it was far from as 'disastrous' as it was being made out to be by certain media.

The disaster for them WAS the spin from the media, what actually happened there is largely irrelevant (and was at best mixed - you seemed to be making out that the people there were actually all happy about it but the article is clear. Mixed.)
I'm sure you understand that jet. For puppet royalty public perception is everything. You can't say "it wasn't a disaster, the media just made it look like one". The public is fickle and the media holds the royal fam's keys to the kingdom. If the press turns on them, we'll be a Republic faster than you can say "Oh ffs not another sex scandal, Andrew!"
I will state upfront that I am not a royalist, i can see people would support the queen because she has been around for so long, but after she has gone what comes next?
i genuinely question if anyone thinks royalty will survive. No-one respects charles like they do the queen, he has been a laughing stock for decades. William may be a nice chap, i honestly have no idea, but, again, he couldn't compete against the queen. Edward and Anne hide away and ... Andrew, well, enough said. So the senior royals up next are either a laughing stock or have hidden away for years. How is that a viable future

I think there were high hopes for William and Kate back when they got married, they were sort of seen as the "new young face" of the Royal Fam and if William had been a "young monarch" like Elizabeth I think he'd have done similarly well in terms of popularity. I think that becomes less and less the case by the year. He's lost his hair and his spark, and it could be another 20 years before he's on the throne if Charles goes easy with the hipflask ... I think the interest will well and truly have waned for 60-year-old Wills & Kate. It already is now. Essentially ... I suspect perhaps the ONLY reason the British Monarchy has continued to do so well as an inactive/puppet monarchy is because Elizabeth was on the throne at 25, that was novel and interesting, and then it gradually morphed into familiarity, as she became a permanent fixture in living memory.
But yes tld;dr I think 75% of the "British Monarchy" both in terms of UK support AND in terms of international recognition is, in fact, "Liz II, The Queen". If you think about it... she's been "The Queen of England" since before the birth of modern pop culture. I suspect she's the whole brand.
The disaster for them WAS the spin from the media, what actually happened there is largely irrelevant (and was at best mixed - you seemed to be making out that the people there were actually all happy about it but the article is clear. Mixed.)
I was clear that the article was mixed :conf: but that you only accentuated the negatives within it and ignored the positives.
I would like Charles to take the helm for a few years until William and Kate’s young children are a bit older, then he should hand it over to William, who has made it clear he will run a different, less regimented kind of Monarchy. Charles himself has already stated he wants a pared back institution, which is the way forward I believe.
There are advantages and disadvantages to both a Monarchy and a Republic - would a Republic be preferable? I don’t think it would. I think the majority of the British public will give Charles his chance, I can’t see them being ready to abolish the Monarchy anytime soon. It probably won’t survive into the very far off future though - or maybe it will in a different form.
When people lose respect for an institution, they want it replaced. If andrew makes a return to public life, people just wont put up with that.
A republic will take a bit of getting used to, sure, but it's going to happen sooner or later

If andrew makes a return to public life, people just wont put up with that.
I don't think he's going to be up to much when it's not mummy making the decisions. That's not even really a criticism of her... it's inevitable and totally understandable that people are going to want to be supportive of their kids, no matter how old they are, and no matter what they've done... she's not going to stop caring about Andrew because of his actions and it'd be madness to expect her to. That's just being a parent.
I doubt big bro Charles has the same soft spot for him though so he'll be put back in a box somewhere.

Talking about war and death and Kate's there giggling away. Immoral and inappropriate, needs more sessions with the Royal Etiquette Instructors I think, you'd never have seen our Queen tittering away like a school kid in such serious circumstances. Absolutely disgusting behaviour. Self-centred and rude.

Queen’s birthday well-wishers led by William and Kate as monarch marks 96th celebrations
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have led well-wishers on the Queen’s 96th birthday.
In a tweet, William and Kate said she was “an inspiration to many” and noted that this year’s birthday marked 70 years on the throne.
They said: “Wishing Her Majesty The Queen a very happy 96th birthday today!
An inspiration to so many across the UK, the Commonwealth and the world, it’s particularly special to be celebrating in this #PlatinumJubilee year.”
The post was accompanied by two photos, one of the couple with the Queen, and another of the monarch, Prince Philip and their grandchildren.

Prince William attends Anzac wreath laying ceremony at Cenotaph as Kate joins Duke
PRINCE William laid a wreath at the Cenotaph as part of Anzac Day commemorations before he was later joined by Kate for a service.
Anzac Day - April 25 - marks the anniversary of the start of the First World War Gallipoli landings, and is a national day of remembrance for Australia and New Zealand.
William laid a wreath on behalf of the Queen, who has faced mobility issues in recent months, at the Cenotaph.
Hundreds are also taking part in a parade, including members of veterans' associations, service and ex-service personnel and their families.
Kate looked elegant in a cream coat and headband as she joined William at Westminster Abbey.

Prince William Shares Important Message on 11th Wedding Anniversary with Kate Middleton
The royal family celebrated the anniversary by retweeting a post by Westminster Abbey, the couple's wedding ceremony venue
It may be Prince William and Kate Middleton's 11th wedding anniversary, but the Duke of Cambridge was focused on his royal work on Friday as he spoke of the devastating floods affecting Australia.
Prince William, 39, shared a message on the couple's joint social media pages on Friday one day after he spoke to emergency responders and residents who have been impacted by the severe flooding that has devastated the east coast of Australia in recent months.

William’s pride as Earthshot wins a BAFTA
By Jess Ilse 9th May 2022
The Earthshot Prize achieved victory at Sunday evening’s BAFTA TV Awards, winning Best Live Event for its inaugural awards ceremony last October at the Royal Albert Hall.
In a tweet, the Duke of Cambridge wrote: “I am so proud of the whole team behind The @EarthshotPrize London 2021 for taking home a BAFTA tonight!
“It’s a joy to work with you all, and this accolade sets the bar high for inspirational, sustainable live events right around the world. We can’t wait for USA 2022! W.”.
The Earthshot Prize tweeted, “Huge congratulations to everyone involved in our inaugural Awards, which celebrated some of the most extraordinary solutions to the Earth’s greatest challenges.”...
……..Dermot O’Leary, one of the hosts of the Earthshot Prize awards ceremony, thanked Prince William during the acceptance speech, calling working on the programme “the most life-affirming experience for all of us.”
About William, he said, “Just a special thanks to Prince William, because it is very easy to be cynical about someone who comes from such privilege, but he approached the whole thing with this incredible empathy and enthusiasm, vitality and this really is his baby which is why Earthshot is now fourth in line to the throne.”
The Earthshot Prize, a decade-long initiative founded by William to find solutions to environmental problems, is now in its second year. Five prizes are awarded annually to teams or companies working on solutions. An awards ceremony will be held in the United States this fall.

Wed 25th May
…..The three garden parties, hosted at Buckingham Palace and Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, are traditionally held by the Queen to reward exceptional acts of public service.
Speaking on the Queen's absence from the parties, royal expert Angela Levin said it was a "shame" the monarch did not host the events, as she did previously, but a decision made in Her Majesty's interests.
She said: "It's a good decision for the Queen not to attend garden parties as there would be too much standing…..
………………
Kate looks lovely. I love how she always looks so genuinely happy and at ease in her role. :)

George and Charlotte make first public visit to Wales for the Platinum Jubilee
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge brought along some special visitors during their whirlwind visit to Cardiff on Saturday. Prince George and Princess Charlotte joined their parents to make their first public visit to Wales.....

I love how Kate and William are involving their children in all of it....and showing them off - I would be too, they are adorable and a credit to them.

So boring for the kids, a shame they didn't take them to spend time with Lilibet on her birthday instead. I don't think she read the half arsed tweet they made for her.

Prince William is looking into practical ways of using Duchy of Cornwall buildings to help those who have fallen on hard times.
The Duke of Cambridge is looking into using Duchy of Cornwall properties to house the homeless, as he seeks to provide practical help as well as royal patronage.
The Duke, who will one day inherit the Duchy from his father the Prince of Wales, has asked staff to explore how buildings could be used to help people who have fallen on misfortune…..
The Telegraph. Dec 2021
Prince William has been the patron of Centrepoint since 2005.
The charity says “Prince William plays an active role in all aspects of our work”.
It’s unfair to assume ‘he doesn’t care’ because he happened to be born a Prince.

Ooh can I have one? We were going to have a take away last night but thought twice after filling up the car cost us a staggering £110 :oh: :fist:. I got a promotion and decent pay raise this year but half of it is being swallowed by diesel and utility bills increases... if William gave me a castle it would really cheer me up?

I will be honest and say I thought young Gearge looked like a stuffed pig set out on a kings banquet table at times during the jubilee, but I'm sure his face will stretch as he grows, so hopefully everything will work out just fine.

Guys it's pretty sad when people don't have important work to get on with so they have to resort to bigging themselves up by relentlessly mocking people like Harry and Meghan. To be honest it looks really petty...

I think with George his "King training" has already begun and so he is far more serious and sombre than Louis and Charlotte. He doesn't really act much like a kid his age where the other two are much more carefree (and Louis is hilarious).

There is a problem with some big issue sellers because some are abusing people and the system
My nephew saw a Romanian women that sells the big issues in his village driving a brand new pick up
And a friend of mine who soft hearted was going for a coffee most days after losing his job was being hounded by who was demanding he take her in the shop and buy stuff
