The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's spring tour has been confirmed by Buckingham Palace.
Prince William, 39, and Kate, 40, will travel to Belize, Jamaica and The Bahamas from 19 to 26 March. It comes after much speculation following the couple's representatives being spotted on Belize's largest island, Ambergris Caye, in January.
The Duke carried out a solo visit to Dubai in the UAE earlier this month, while the Duchess has just completed a two-day trip to Copenhagen in Denmark...

....In what will be their joint overseas tour since 2020, the Cambridges' itinerary will focus on themes connected to The Earthshot Prize, mental health and the importance of early childhood to lifelong outcomes. The couple will meet a wide variety of groups, including children, young people and families, frontline workers, service personnel, leaders from government, business and the charity sector as well as inspiring conservationists, and the early years workforce.

Next Thursday, March 17, marks St Patrick's Day, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be attending the traditional parade at Mons Barracks in Aldershot alongside the 1st Battalion Irish Guards, reports The Mirror.
Prince William is Colonel of the Irish Guards and he and Kate have attended the annual event many times together in the past.
Unfortunately, last year's event was scrapped due to the Covid-19 pandemic while the 2020 parade was unable to go ahead as the majority of the regiment was overseas on deployment.

During Thursday's event, Kate will present sprigs of shamrock to the officers and guardsmen, who in turn will issue it along the ranks - a tradition carried out by royal women since 1901.
She will also present the regimental mascot, an Irish Wolf Hound, with his own sprig of shamrock, while William will take the salute during a march-past.

Following the parade, the couple will meet members of the regiment for an official photo and visit the Junior Ranks dining hall, where they will take a toast - no doubt with a pint of traditional Guinness.

Prince William skipped BAFTA ceremony last night and sent a video message
His absence was put down to 'diary constraints precluding him from attending'
It is also possible the royal was wary of going to the event amid war in Ukraine.

Today Kate Middleton and Prince William have returned to Westminster Abbey for an annual celebration.

The royal couple joined Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and Queen Elizabeth's cousin Princess Alexandra at the Commonwealth Day Service on Monday. The service honoring the 54 countries and nations that make up the Commonwealth was held for the first time since being canceled in 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic and replaced with a smaller event.

For Kate, 40, and Prince William, 39, it also means a return to the place where they exchanged vows during their April 2011 royal wedding. In December, Westminster Abbey also hosted Kate's first Christmas carol concert, where she even played piano for a performance.

....Whilst Prince William, Prince Charles and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall all very much looked 10 out of 10, Twitter has been pretty focussed in on Kate Middleton... with one photo in particular really taking centre stage.
Whilst attending the service, the Duchess of Cambridge and future queen consort looked (let's be honest) incredible in a bold azure blue coat dress, complete with matching hat and ringlet curls. The literal picture book image of a princess, if you ask us.

And whilst there are a tonne of amazing snaps of all of the family taken today, one of Kate in particular really stood out to royal fans, who have all been declaring that it looks 'fit to appear on a stamp', which is certainly quite the sentiment...etc.

There was obviously coverage of the Queen and Commonwealth day in the media and papers...this thread is about the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Serious stuff as well as more lighthearted, which we need in these dark times....

It is sad that the Queen wasn't able to attend.

Here is Her Majesty's Commonwealth address today:

https://www.royal.uk/queens-commonwealth-day-message-2022

In this year of my Platinum Jubilee, it has given me pleasure to renew the promise I made in 1947, that my life will always be devoted in service.
Today, it is rewarding to observe a modem, vibrant and connected Commonwealth that combines a wealth of history and tradition with the great social, cultural and technological advances of our time.
That the Commonwealth stands ever taller is a credit to all who have been involved. We are nourished and sustained by our relationships and, throughout my life, I have enjoyed the privilege of hearing what the relationships built across the great reach and diversity of the Commonwealth have meant to people and communities.

Our family of nations continues to be a point of connection, cooperation and friendship. It is a place to come together to pursue common goals and the common good, providing everyone with the opportunity to serve and benefit.
In these testing times, it is my hope that you can draw strength and inspiration from what we share, as we work together towards a healthy, sustainable and prosperous future for all.
And on this special day for our family — in a year that will include the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting and the Commonwealth Games — I hope we can deepen our resolve to support and serve one another, and endeavour to ensure the Commonwealth remains an influential force for good in our world for many generations to come.

This dispute involves a small village of less than 1,000 people. A group of local people don’t want the visit, so Wills and Kate are respecting their wishes and will give it a miss. Hardly a big deal.

The tweet begins 'Very interesting' - that's a bit of a dramatic stretch.....:hee:
You’d think to see this that the protest is a massive deal. It’s a small village which has a right to protest something specific to them.
Belize is an independent country which chooses to have Queen Elizabeth as their monarch and be part of the Commonwealth and by all accounts are proud of it.
If it turns out the majority population of Belize also protest their visit, which I doubt, then they are free to become a Republic. A Commonwealth country is free to leave it at any time, it is totally voluntary.

Due to the pandemic, it's been a good couple of years since royal fans have been treated to a royal tour featuring both Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton - their last trip overseas together saw them visit Ireland in 2020 and prior to that, Pakistan in October 2019. Of course, in that time we have also seen them visit Scotland via train and Kate Middleton fly to Denmark earlier this year for a solo jaunt.
So, the Cambridges current 8-day expedition (19 – 26 March) to the Caribbean, where they've already been keeping busy in Belize, and with Jamaica and The Bahamas next on the list, has certainly been an exciting one to follow along with.

We've so far seen the Duke and Duchess get stuck into dancing with the locals, Kate having a go at shaking her maracas (no, really) and seen the future king and queen consort have a go at creating their own chocolate, after learning more about how important cacao is to the Maya community.
Here, we've rounded up the best, candid photos of Prince William and Kate Middleton enjoying their sunny royal tour:

‘We jammin' Kate and William given pop stars' welcome on visit to Bob Marley's hometown
By RICHARD PALMER Wed, Mar 23, 2022

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge went to Trench Town, the working-class district of Kingston where the reggae star lived and wrote his most famous song, No Woman No Cry. They toured his former home, now a museum, and played drums with some reggae musicians in the courtyard where Jamaica’s biggest superstar learned to perform.

There was mass hysteria in the neighbourhood, the birthplace of reggae, as the royal couple were mobbed by crowds who chanted: “We love you, we love you” as they walked to Trench Town Culture Yard and Museum in Jamaica’s capital.

Their walk to the museum came after William played football with England star Raheem Sterling, Aston Villa and Jamaica winger Leon Bailey, and some Jamaican league players in front of a cheering crowd on a neighbourhood pitch.

I just admire William so much; so statesmanlike and respectful of others and will make a great King. He addressed the issue of slavery with dignity and sincerity.
It’s a shame that a very small group of Jamaicans let such a friendly country down by being so hostile and disrespectful to their visitors representing the Queen as part of her Golden Jubilee celebrations.
William and Kate have handled it and the tour magnificently and are the epitome of good manners and class.

He wasn't making it up though:

[Leading the charge is Jamaican attorney and reparations advocate Bert Samuels, who swallowed Meghan’s crocodile tears hook, line and sinker to help advance his political cause for the UK to be forced to pay reparations to compensate for African slaves brought to the island before the practice was made illegal in 1833.

He told Newsweek: ‘Jamaicans were very torn up to hear about Harry and Meghan's issue, and Harry and Meghan's interview with Oprah Winfrey, and that has torn us. That's William's brother, that's his nephew, and for Harry to have been treated the way he was, and worse yet Meghan.

‘The Jamaicans are very hurt by the treatment of an African American woman in that family. William needs to speak to that when he comes and as it were, he should come here with an apology, not only for slavery but for the treatment of a black woman who had to run out of the palace with her husband. That's a
strong issue and that's a fresh wound.’]

China is capitalist, not communist. You're living in the past.

Of course China will make money, but they're present and helping them. We have left these places to rot, and that's my issue - it's not even a monarchy (even though I'd abolish the lot of them in a heartbeat) issue at all. We had a responsibility to try and repair what we've done, so it only diminishes us as a nation, and us as a people when we have other countries clean our mess up.

jet

Wootons response to the Jamaican attorney, which is very much in line with what many have said all along and fits with the subsequent discovery of her many lies and maipulations:

[In fact, she was given a huge amount of support from the Queen down but scarpered because, as a pampered actress used to assistants giving into her every whim, she wanted to return to the comfort of Hollywood and make the serious big bucks she thought she deserved.
Meghan soon realised a life of service wasn’t for her.
She had zero interest in supporting the Royal Family and zero interest in the Commonwealth, but cared a whole lot about her bank balance and celebrity status.
So it was convenient for the Sussexes to fashion a narrative behind their exit to make it more politically palatable to their leftie supporters, to hell with the damage it would cause to the Queen’s legacy].

Why China continues to call itself a Communist state.

And North Korea calls itself the peoples republic of north korea, doesn't make that true, either.

The article itself points out that it's china's interpretation of Marxism, but you can't be anti worker and Marxist at the same time as they're in opposition.

No Bahama Drama: Royal pair are welcomed to the final stop on their Jubilee Tour with warm words and gifts from the country's PM

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were welcomed to The Bahamas on the final stop of their Caribbean tour to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee after the country's Prime Minister gifted them a portrait and said their visit to the island was 'long overdue'.

Prince William and Kate were met by members of the military and eight-year-old local resident Aniah Moss, who presented the couple with a bouquet of flowers in front of the Royal Air Force Voyager plane, as they touched down at Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau, New Providence to begin the final leg of their tour.
The royal couple also had an official meeting with the country's Prime Minister, Philip Davis, who passed on his best wishes to The Queen and said 'it's great to have you both here.'

Extract of Williams end of tour statement.

In his end of tour statement, William said that while he was ‘committed to service’, that involved ‘not telling people what to do’.

‘It is about serving and supporting them in whatever way they think best, by using the platform we are lucky to have.'

The Duke added: ‘Foreign tours are an opportunity to reflect. You learn so much. What is on the minds of Prime Ministers. The hopes and ambitions of school children. The day-to-day challenges faced by families and communities.
‘I know that this tour has brought into even sharper focus questions about the past and the future. ‘In Belize, Jamaica and The Bahamas, that future is for the people to decide upon.
‘But we have thoroughly enjoyed spending time with communities in all three countries, understanding more about the issues that matter most to them.’

A senior royal insider indicated that William’s statement indicated the 39-year-old Prince was ‘coming of age’.
‘He was showing that he understands that it can’t be taken for granted that he will lead the Commonwealth – you serve as long as the people want you to serve, you listen, accept their choices and change if you need to.
‘This is about a modern Monarchy.’

Slim, I wish you wouldn't refer to the Jamaicans as 'Natives'; at least you didn't preface it with 'dirty' this time.

The journalist Robert Jobson who is travelling with the Cambridges on their 9 day trip said the fence incident was grossly misrepresented.
“There was an fence around the football pitch where hundreds of youngsters had gathered to meet the players, including Raheem Sterling, as well as the Royals.
Of course they went over, if they hadn't, they would have been accused of snubbing them."

You go William! He gave notice of this when he broke the tradition of saying nothing when he made the ‘we are very much not a racist family’ retort to a rude reporter’s question.

"William believes that saying nothing is the right path in less contentious issues; but if he feels it is appropriate he will not let very damaging untruths be left uncontested” says a senior Palace source."

Robert Hardman. Daily Mail
We live in an age where the Twitter-driven battalions of the perpetually offended are constantly seeking their next grievance. And here was a gem. They could actually take offence – at a fence.
Privileged white royal tourists shielded from the black children of Trench Town? ‘Outrageous’/ ‘colonial’ etc.

Except, I have spoken to some of those who were actually on the spot. The scene was nothing of the sort.

The fence has been there for years, helping to keep spectators off the pitch but also keeping balls and children from spilling out on to the adjacent road. A big crowd had gathered to view the celebrity visit and they were yelling at the Cambridges to come across for a chat.
The ‘colonial’ response would actually have been to ignore these uninvited crowds. Instead, the couple went over – and then went round to the other side of the fence on their way out where they were mobbed once again.

This is our world today; lies proven to be so and distortion of facts become widespread ‘accepted dishonesty’ to suit those with an agenda.

What a narrow minded, unsophisticated viewpoint. Maybe those you refer to haven't travelled much and have not gone much further than their own backyard?

I love this forum's ability to argue with straight-up facts :joker:. I don't really feel any need to prove myself, come to Glasgow on Old Firm day... or anywhere in Ayrshire on the 12th of July.

I grew up in a small Ayrshire town heavily embroiled in the Masonic Lodge. I spend half of my teens kicking around Glasgow. My dad is Catholic, his dad was Protestant, my mum's parents were hardcore Church of Scotland and flag-waving Royalists complete with Royal Wedding Collectible Plates on the wall.

My wife is Catholic, her maternal grandparents were all Irish Catholic and her paternal grandad was a masonic lodge protestant - that's in the North of England - it's completely different in Scotland and the Old Firm is heavily, heavily interwoven with loyalists/royalists and sectarianism.

This is just ... stone cold fact. I lived it my entire childhood .

You didn’t say ‘In Scotland’ in your original post on this subject. However, can you speak for the whole of Scotland, surely you can only speak for certain about the areas that you grew up in and experienced.
In N.ireland, before the Troubles, whole families of not only Protestants, but Catholics too, went to see ‘the bands’ on the 12th of July. Hard to believe nowadays I know.
We always lodged a few guys from a Scottish band when they came over, a lot of people did. The McKeys, a Catholic family did! They used to laugh and say the Scottish ones always had big beer bellies and ‘ate and drank them out of house and home’. :hehe:

During the Troubles, sectarianism mainly existed in and around border areas and the main cities, especially in contentious areas of Derry and Belfast, where I grew up. As I moved away to live in other parts, I found people on the whole couldn’t give a stuff whether you were a ‘Taig’ or a ‘Prod’ or what football team you supported; they lived in the same area’s, socialised together, their kids played together, when they discussed the ‘Troubles’ they were disgusted and horrified at the murders carried out in their names on both sides.

Political alliances and arguments weren’t part of their life; their families, friends, work were their focus. Good, normal, fair people.
No barbed wire fences, no12 feet walls, no provocative graffiti, no flags on the houses or streets.
When the Queen visited N.Ireland (I think it was 2008) a huge crowd of us, from both sides, went out in force to cheer her. I've seen quite a few Royals over the years and my Dad met many of them when they went to Hillsborough Castle. We were always agog to hear about it when he got home - and I myself met the Queen and Philip when I was little. They were wonderful and I've always treasured the moment.

Our own experiences shape us, that much is true.

Ahhhh I think there's been a miscommunication; I (wrongly, my bad) assumed that you knew I was specifically talking about Rangers fans, and have just now realised that I said "Teddy Bear" not Rangers fan, so that's not actually clear.

Yes I'm talking about just sectarianism in Scotland as it related to the Old Firm, and well... yes... that's sort of just relevant to some very specific areas of Scotland. Obvious I know there's much more to sectarianism on the whole. The specific brand of sectarianism that's linked to Rangers FC is heavily intertwined with UK Loyalism and support for the Royal Family / anti-Scottish Republicanism.

Honestly anyone who was raised in or around Central Belt Scotland and is claiming that RFC isn't entangled with British Nationalism, protestant sectarianism and thus, the Royals ... ... ... ... ... well ... they're telling porkies.

TBH, I'm not even sure of what I'm supposed to be convinced of? :conf: :hee:

The Rangers side of the Scottish "Old Firm" (Rangers/Celtic rivalry) is unquestionably and unfixably intertwined with British Nationalism (and thus Royalty) and sectarianism.

That's all really. It's barely a debate it's well established fact.

Can you explain what you mean by this?

In Scotland, largely, support of the monarchy goes hand-in-hand with being a Unionist and Independence hand-in-hand with rejecting the active monarchy. Technically, you could be a Unionist who wants to abolish the Monarchy, or pro-indy who wants to keep the monarchy active in both countries, but that's not usually the case. Rule of thumb is that Rangers/Protestant/Unionist/Royalty-supporting all goes hand in hand.

Some people will claim that the football fan base has nothing to do with sectarianism.

They're delusional or lying. No two ways about it. Just take a drive near Ibrox on a match day for "proof" (I don't recommend actually doing that, it's ****ing horrible).

Like I said, I'm sure not all Rangers fans are actively sectarian themselves. BUT they certainly don't care about the association with it or that their pals are. Willing to turn a blind eye.

To be clear I'm not even saying that the Celtic fan base is particularly better, sectarianism is a two-way street, but this thread is about Royalty tub-thumping and that only applies to Rangers.

Well it all sounds daft to me. I suppose it would be too much to suggest that football fans could support the Monarchy for reasons other than just being Ranger supporters?

The article specifically points out that it's because the Beckham's have "a long history" and "a strong attachment" with William and Kate - why would they invite Harry and Meghan just because he happens to be another prince? :joker: I mean a nice try Jet but this is like saying my sister was "snubbed" because she wasn't invited to my old school pal's wedding last year.

True, and it was such a small and intimate ceremony with close family and friends so I guess that's a good point.

Lovely to hear that David and Victoria are renewing their vows though.

Why did the Cambridges snub the invite? Quite rude. Maybe the Beckhams regret not asking Harry instead.

A source close to the Beckhams said: “David and Victoria wrote to William and Kate inviting them and the family to their son’s wedding, and William replied wishing them a great deal of joy but they are unable to attend.”

The source claimed Prince William and Kate was always the Beckhams’ choice, as opposed to rumoured guests Harry and Meghan, but cited security as one of the factors in the Cambridges not attending.

If you can't see the difference between security for a celebrity wedding and top notch security for the Royal family plus all the European Royals together in one venue I really can't help you.

Nobody said they would, but its still a far cry from Metropolitan Special Royalty protection which Harry would have had automatically in the UK while attending his grandfathers memorial service, a lot different from not attending a celebrity wedding, don't you agree?

The Telegraph
Prince William is in the royal line of succession and will one day be King, meaning he requires a certain level of security that could have been frustrating at a beachside wedding.
Additionally, April 10th was the first anniversary of his grandfathers death.
