Do you know whats really scary. These people are there to pay tribute and respect the queen and are probably given the once in a lifetime opportunity to shake hands with the new King. And a lot of people are more fussed about their phones. Yes I know people want to share with their friends what happened but it seems like that's more important. Newsreaders keep saying about they are pleased and surprised so many young people are turning up. Well that's for Instagram and Facebook likes. In fact not long after she died last night there were two girls outside Buckingham palace trying so hard to be seen by the cameras smiling laughing and waving. They couldn't give two hoots about what actually had happened. We live in a world now where people can't get their phone out of their hand people don't cherish moments but rather are too fussed to film it or a take a picture or tik tok in front of it or what not. We are slowly turning into robots. I'm saying this while I type on a phone on an online forum but still. They need to be a bit more respectful

What a man you are..great post.
You are spot on, I've seen 2 people sat opposite each other on nights out, texting each other.
Admittedly that was a wee while ago, but still.

I can understand the odd photo or video to capture the moment, I'll never be against that . But I agree people are 100% too obsessed with their phones,to the point where they're not really cherishing the experience. And as you say ,you can tell some people just want likes on social media.
Another example is if I was to go to a theatre show,or the Circus or something, I wouldn't be able to enjoy myself if I mess about with my phone glued to my hand .. It ruins the whole thing for me .

I don’t get how they don’t feel awkward about it either? I wouldn’t film myself shaking hands with Prince Charles and sharing condolences I just find that really weird. The poor man is grieving and is probably going through a whole lot of emotions yet some people want to film that and share it around. It just feels wrong to me.

That is a nice tradition
The royal beekeeper - in an arcane tradition thought to date back centuries - has informed the hives kept in the grounds of Buckingham Palace and Clarence House of the Queen’s death.
And the bees have also been told, in hushed tones, that their new master is now King Charles III.
The official Palace beekeeper, John Chapple, 79, told MailOnline how he travelled to Buckingham Palace and Clarence House on Friday following news of The Queen’s death to carry out the superstitious ritual.
He placed black ribbons tied into bows on the hives, home to tens of thousands of bees, before informing them that their mistress had died and that a new master would be in charge from now on.
He then urged the bees to be good to their new master - himself once famed for talking to plants.
The strange ritual is underpinned by an old superstition that not to tell them of a change of owner would lead to the bees not producing honey, leaving the hive or even dying.

I couldn't give a t*** if I was the Duke of Edinburgh or Earl of Wessex. They're all bursting at the seams with money, a title is meaningless.

They have publicly been offered an Olive branch…they need to now be respectful and put a sock in it.
To be fair, you're right they were invited by the Prince and Princess of Wales to go out to the public.
However even IF they'd wanted to, they couldn't have gone out on their own, not being working Royals.
Neither couple put a foot wrong on the walkabout and the public were overjoyed to see both clearly.
I think, I don't know for certain, but I think if the Queen could have stood watching it, she'd be both relieved and happy.
Unity is far better than division.
If it can ever be healed, it needs to start somewhere.
Which it seems may have had a spark to beginning today.
Hopefully they, as a family can and will work things out further.
That I think, would be good to see.
Plus too, I may get jumped on here, not by you, however I was kind of pleased Prince Andrew came out in Scotland too.

President lauds the late Queen’s ‘grace, charm, nobility… she was an icon to the world and her loss is felt by billions’
‘She was beloved by the American People like few others - the Queen was truly special to us,’ he writes
Gives a heartfelt account of ‘talking the whole evening’ and being with her ‘side-by-side’ during his state visit to the UK…memories he and Melania will ‘cherish for the rest of our lives’
Says ‘she saw her country through the Blitz of London, the Cold War, the Falklands conflict, the coal miners’ strikes, Brexit, COVID, and so much more - she was always there for her people—resolute and unflappable’
‘Her Majesty missed nothing,’ he writes. ‘She always knew exactly what to say…’ revealing her answer to his intriguing question about Britain’s PMs
As we grieve,’ he writes, ‘we are comforted that King Charles III will be a great and outstanding successor… Melania and I were blessed to get to know him well… he will be an inspiration to the British People’
His generous tribute concludes: ‘She was Britain at its best. God bless the Queen. God bless her family. God bless the United Kingdom’

How lovely, I knew Meghan would accept Kate's apology.
William inviting Harry and Meghan on the walkabout is a very good move indeed. He vowed to do everything in his power to support his father in his new reign and lessening any damage to the Monarchy by H&M with this benevolent move means that any more of their s**t will be viewed as grossly mean spirited and relentlessly spiteful.
Meghan needs to put a lid on it once and for all with her lies and petty digs, and Harry needs to think hard about what is going to be in his book. Any more of their whining and publicly touting private family business for money and there will be no going back.

While it's very sad indeed, no matter what the whole unpleasant saga is of the last year and more.
While it's equally sad that the Queen hasn't got to see today.
ALL the people involved have since the Queen's death, ALL of them have up to now done the right thing.
To reach out in any tensions, can only succeed IF the reached out to reciprocate .
So from me FULL credit to each and every one of them now on this now following the Queen's death and the start of King Charles 111 reign.
Rather than dwell on negatives of the past, I myself hope this is the start of stronger ties being rebuilt.
Everyone in the Queen's family, as in other families, will have things they wish they'd said or done, however didn't and now can't.
Plus things said and done they wish they hadn't too.
A loss like this can be a new and real awakening to reality.
Realising what and who are really important.
Prompting a whole new coming together.
I really hope for peace to, with and for ALL of them.
Every single one of them.
That would in my view anyhow, be THE greatest thing ALL could do now for Her Majesty the late Queen's memory.

Transcript of Prince William's statement today:
“On Thursday, the world lost an extraordinary leader, whose commitment to the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth was absolute. So much will be said in the days ahead about the meaning of her historic reign.
I, however, have lost a grandmother. And while I will grieve her loss, I also feel incredibly grateful. I have had the benefit of The Queen’s wisdom and reassurance into my fifth decade. My wife has had twenty years of her guidance and support. My three children have got to spend holidays with her and create memories that will last their whole lives.
She was by my side at my happiest moments. And she was by my side during the saddest days of my life. I knew this day would come, but it will be some time before the reality of life without Grannie will truly feel real.
I thank her for the kindness she showed my family and me. And I thank her on behalf of my generation for providing an example of service and dignity in public life that was from a different age, but always relevant to us all.
My grandmother famously said that grief was the price we pay for love. All of the sadness we will feel in the coming weeks will be testament to the love we felt for our extraordinary Queen. I will honour her memory by supporting my father, The King, in every way I can.”

Apart from noticing her frailty and skin discolouration she was extremely smiley..although she always smiled her smile was always a shallow smile but her face was lit up...so I reckon she had something to help her get her through it.

Just driven into Fife and back.
Passed a procession in the Town with local dignitaries and a pipe band walking
up the road no idea to where. The old Brig had like a 40 foot Saltire draped in it
- some nationalist thing no doubt.
Then I get onto the M90 in Fife and every bridge over the Motorway is about 3
deep with hundreds of people. On my way back the fields at the side of the
motorway had tons of people in them and all the laybys were rammed and
there were tons of rozzers around. Quite remarkable

SIR – After the brickbats thrown at England by Nicola Sturgeon and her
acolytes, there has been a risk of all Scots being tarred with the same brush.
However, tracking the progress of Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin through a large
chunk of Scotland, we have seen the Scots at their finest. There has been no
theatrical wailing – just a deeply felt sadness at the death of a highly respected
monarch and friend to the Scottish people.
From the crowds in the cities to the individuals by the roadsides to the tractors
lining one stretch of motorway and the pony club ranks standing by the route, it
has felt as though we have all linked arms.

Center Parcs has backtracked over a decision to ask guests to leave its sites on the day of the Queen's funeral.
The holiday firm said it had made the decision "as a mark of respect" and to allow employees to "be part of this historic moment".
But the move prompted complaints from angry holidaymakers online.
It would have meant some guests would have had to leave part-way through their break and return afterwards.
One holidaymaker the BBC spoke to described the previous plans as "ridiculous".
Others took to Center Parcs' Facebook page to express their anger, with one saying the last-minute change showed no respect to guests.
Center Parcs had said that guests would have to leave its five UK sites for 24 hours from 10:00 BST on Monday 19 September.
The company has now changed its decision, saying that it will no longer require guests who are not due to depart on Monday to leave.
Those due to arrive on Monday, however, will still not be able to check in until 10:00 BST Tuesday.
In a statement on Tuesday evening, it said: "The vast majority of our guests are either due to arrive or depart on Monday 19 September.
"We have however, reviewed our position regarding the very small number of guests who are not due to depart on Monday, and we will be allowing them to stay on our villages rather than having to leave and return on Tuesday."
The five locations of its holiday parks include: Elveden Forest, Suffolk; Longleat Forest, Wiltshire; Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire; Woburn Forest, Bedfordshire; and Whinfell Forest, Cumbria.
Facilities on-site, including restaurants, will still remain closed on Monday too. Center Parcs said it would be offering a discount for the lack of facilities available on that day.

Culture Secretary Michelle Donelan has warned that the government is expecting “extremely large queues, that could go up to thirty hours”, to see the Queen lying in state in Westminster Hall, adding there could be “thousands” of mourners waiting.
She said that while “it won’t be thirty hours for everybody”, it was important for the public to be “fully prepared” for the wait in terms of time on their feet and the weather.
When asked if she was trying to put people off coming to London, Donelan said “it’s really important” to be “as open and upfront [as possible] with the general public so they can make informed choices”. She said the government would be doing everything it could to make people “as comfortable on the journey as they possibly can be”.
Speaking to broadcasters from her office in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, she said over 1,000 people per day would be on hand to assist people queuing and that there would be a queue for disabled people and those finding it difficult to stand for so long.

perhaps most of all in Scotland – there are so many people who deserve
sincere thanks for their hard work.
I hope it does not seem presumptuous of me to praise, in particular, the
members of the Royal Regiment of Scotland. And surely the most deserving of
congratulations are those soldiers who served as pallbearers at the Palace of
Holyroodhouse and St Giles.
Under intense scrutiny, their turnout, discipline and drill were all perfect.

30 hours !!
I wouldn’t queue that long for a passionate hug off a bikini-clad Charleze Theron !!

Any chance there is a bigger version of that, bots? Can't quite make it out :smug:
The BBC is launching a dedicated stream of the Queen lying in state, for people who want to pay their respects virtually.
The service will be offered globally for those who want to pay their respects but cannot travel to London or are physically unable to queue.
It will be available on the BBC home page, the BBC News website and app, the iPlayer, BBC Parliament and Red Button.
The live stream will be available from 17:00 BST on Wednesday.
People will be able to file past the coffin in Westminster Hall until the morning of the state funeral on Monday.
Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to visit Westminster Hall to pay their respects to Britain's longest-reigning monarch.
Mourners began gathering as early as Monday, and by Wednesday morning many people had joined the queue forming on nearby streets and along the banks of the River Thames.
The Queen's coffin was taken to Buckingham Palace after it was flown from Edinburgh to London on Tuesday evening.
It is due to leave for Westminster Hall at 14:22 BST, carried on an open gun carriage of the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery, drawn by a team of black horses.
