View Full Version : The Queen has passed away. God save the King
The flight taking the Queen's coffin to London was the most tracked in history, website Flightradar24 has said.
Nearly six million people tried to follow the plane's route from Edinburgh to RAF Northolt within its first minute in the air, the website said.
The huge traffic caused the service, which allows users to track the path of planes in the air, to crash.
More than 4.79 million people watched on its site and app and 296,000 were watching on a YouTube stream, it said.
The previous record was when a flight carrying US politician Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan last month was followed by 2.2 million people on Flightradar24.

Bots, don't they also bury Royals in lead lined coffins.
Which make it airtight, keeping moisture out.
Hence why 8 pallbearers usually needed for extra weight
here is how embalming is done:
The body is washed with a disinfectant solution and carefully massaged to relax any muscles and joints tensed by rigor mortis. Facial hair is shaved.
The features are set: the eyes and mouth are closed (the techniques for this vary). Cotton padding may be placed in the cheeks to create a more natural expression.
A small cut is made and a strong artery and vein are found (often the jugular vein and common carotid artery, near the collarbone). The embalmer places tubes in both: the artery is used to pump the body with embalming fluid, while the tube running from the vein allows blood to drain out. Once done, the cut is closed once more.
The body is massaged again with a soapy sponge to help the embalming fluid spread evenly. The skin will begin to pinken.
Next comes cavity embalming. The organs are pierced and drained of fluid using a tool called a trocar. They are then filled with extremely strong embalming fluid before the incision is closed. The embalming process is complete!
The deceased is washed once more, and their hair brushed. A moisturising cream is rubbed gently into the face to keep it hydrated.
Ahead of a viewing, the deceased is dressed and make-up is applied.
She probably didnt get any done.

She's not being viewed.
The coffin is already sealed.
Bots has it right Id say.
Plus Princess Diana's I recall was a lead lined coffin too.
It all slows down considerably any decomposing.
Nobody is going to be poking about the queens naked body so I doubt shes been embalmed..
Seal the smell in with an appropriate coffin, and hope it conceals the smell for the whole week and a half she has to lay there like an exhibition.

I can't remember what it was, but an episode of a police drama I saw the forensic mortician freaked out a gang member by describing what he'd do to his body if the person they wanted evidence on killed him. Might have been SVU, notmsure.

She has been bathed and dressed all her life....I am sure if she wanted to be embalmed she will have been. There is no dignity in death, no matter who you are. The lead lined coffin is airtight which both delays decomposition and also prevents any fluids or smells escaping.
The queen bathes herself, in a tepid bath with water that has to be no more than 7 inches deep.

I went through the night, got in the queue before 5 in the morning.
It was a bit annoying in the snake like complex set up.
As you stopped walking towards the Hall.
Then were just going up and down and around.
However there were great people there and in good humour.
It was after 10.30 when the grouping I was with got in.
Actually it moved me greatly.
The whole serenity of it, the reverence.
Thinking of the incredible human being no longer with us.
Then the changing over of the guards round the coffin.
Actually is was while extremely sad as to why this was going on, it was also really beautiful and even a warm like coming home feeling.

I'm glad I went and moreso went through the night as those through the day were waiting over 8 hours for some.
The peace of being in that hall and giving respect to this amazing Monarch.
Is something I'll personally treasure the memory of the rest of my life.
It all really moved me in all positive ways and feelings.
Bless Her Majesty's memory and legacy forever.
Amazing…good for you. A friend of mine started queuing at 11pm last night and didn’t enter the Hall until 7am this morning.
So glad you achieved that…it must have been very special.

Thank you parmnion re foot spa.
My legs are aching a bit but nothing like I expected.

It was when you stopped for a while which was the worst part.
Glad I went through last night though and not towards and over the weekend.

it doesn't matter if the queen is there or not really. That doesn't change the fact that people wanted to devote a moment to remembering her and that's what they did
Precisely, its symbolic so even if she isn't in the box or it is just a urn of ashes, or her body is there it really makes very little difference as it is a symbolic gesture of respect. Personally the Queen was so old school I am 100% sure she is in the coffin, she isn't going to deviate in death from how she was in life, 100% committed to duty

What IF it doesn't reduce in length.
Just the other day you had politicians and authorities stating they expected absolutely innumerable numbers of people coming.
They were even talking of anything from a few hours to up to over 24 hours being in the queue.
Where do the people go who have come to join the queue then told to come back later?
What if the queue doesn't get less, I thought myself as the weekend progressed even more would come and be travelling from all over the Country and other Countries too.
If you head too far off from the end of the queue, then come back, you're likely not going to be in the position you may have had if you'd been able to join it when first arriving.
There could have potentially been millions wanting to queue.

A Chinese government delegation has been banned from attending the lying-in-state of Queen Elizabeth II, the BBC understands.
House of Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle is understood to have refused a request for access to Westminster Hall over Chinese sanctions against five MPs and two peers.
Queen Elizabeth will lie in state until her funeral on Monday.
The Speaker's office told the BBC it did not comment on security matters.
A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said they had not seen a reports about the ban, which first emerged on the Politico website.
"As a host, the UK is certainly familiar with diplomatic protocols and proper manners of receiving guests," China's foreign ministry spokesperson, Mao Ning, said.
Last year, China imposed travel bans and asset freezes on nine Britons - including seven parliamentarians - for accusing Beijing of mistreating Uighur Muslims.

Obviously ran between the guards
Those standing around are for ceremonial purposes these days the real protection will be at sides .

So stand by as the coffin is attacked.
Absolutely appalling. May as well have tailor shop dummies standing there.

No it’s not as simple as that, they will help but they are hardly dressed for rolling around on the ground plus they will get stiff from standing still
Although man in his 20s is stretching it somewhat
That looks like Ben Stiller to me

My friend joined the queue at 11pm last night. She has just reached Waterloo Bridge and been told that it should be another 4 hours or so till they reach the front. She said the atmosphere has been amazing but its bloody freezing and her feet are killing her

Night time is cold and I wouldn't feel safe either.

But that's twice I've managed to catch live when it's been menbers of the royal family guarding the coffin. For someone that hasnt watched hardly any tv for 3 months now, that is an achievement.l, and perhaps a sign to reflect.

Stamp his feet and say I'm not doing it.
Hats off to him though, he been brilliant, and very supportive of his big brother.
Feeling more warmth for him now. Nice to see he finally got a uniform on as well. Him and Andrew not allowed them but the only 2 to have seen real service...

Parmy…he was never going to say he is not doing it….and I have to question where he has been ‘supportive’ other than turning up.
However it’s great seeing them together in their uniforms to honour their grandmother.
the proof will be in the coming months up until Christmas. If they drop more gossip bombs, their chance will have gone
We just happened to be in Scotland on holiday visiting friends in Aberdeen while the Queen was lying in State in Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh. We drove down, not to queue, as we had a long drive ahead of us back to Aberdeen, but just to lay flowers, pay our respects and stand by the Cathedral, knowing the Queen was inside, close by.
It was so worth it, the atmosphere was quite surreal - solemn yet uplifting at the same time.
It is just amazing that currently in London millions of people will queue for hours on end; some overnight, in the cold, such loyalty and devotion! I can’t think of another death that has inspired such a remarkable reaction as our Queen’s demise has, and not just in the UK, but internationally. We will never see another like her.

Supportive my ass. He would only have been seen at the funeral if William and Charles hadn't agreed to extent an olive branch after he and his ghastly wife had caused the Queen such stress in the final few years of her life. I'll never warm to them after the damage they have tried to inflict on the instituation she devoted 70 years to - NEVER.

You should have fained injury, the medical tent route shaved 2 hours of the wait in edinburgh...
So one of my elderly asthmatic customers informed me after her escapade wheezing up the royal mile on Monday.
Just weeks ago the Queen invited Harry and Meg to spend some time with her at Balmoral. The last chance they had to do so - she was obviously very frail - and they turned it down. That's how much they cared. So F them.

All the Royals have their faults as most humans generally do too.
I'm not going to join in on taking this thread down the Harry and Meghan hate route.
I stopped ever commenting on those threads as they all went the same way.
This thread is about the loss of Her Majesty the Queen, a very sad loss.
I feel as sure as I can be Her Majesty would really not approve at all at any of her family being got at in the lead up to her funeral in this mourning period.
I agree with you parmnion as to being supportive.
In fact all I've come across in the Royals at this time, ALL of them, is that in this time of deep grieving and dealing with the events, and in fact publicly scrutinised events of the events towards the funeral.
All I can see is a family, the best way they can be, being as supportive as they can be towards each other..
Accommodating the wishes and hopes of all involved.
For Her Majesty the late Queen.
The least everyone else can do for that great Lady's memory is not ridicule or condemn her family
On her loss of life thread here.
I agree with you too parmnion it is right that Prince Harry got to wear his uniform again.

I too have that hope - for the sake of the Monarchy and peace for Charles, William and Kate. I hope H&M find a life that doesn't include continuing to try to disturb his father and brothers peace of mind. But many will not forgive and forget what the traitor and his money grabbing wife have done.

I have barely commented at all since our Queen passed on these threads. Maybe have a look at the disrespect towards the Queen herself in this and other posts on these threads over the past week which didn’t seem to bother you at all.
No need for the sanctimonious tone. I was simply making it clear I’m not going down the ‘isn’t it all lovely and rosy with Harry and Meghan’ route because I’m entitled to my view and I’ve said what I wanted to. Finished. End of. Well, not quite - Harry is a prick no matter what he is wearing.

I was really fortunate the day and time I went.
It was only around the 6 hour mark for me.
Although I don't think I'd have left the queue had it been going to be much longer, not once I was there.
Plus the time passed pretty good as I got talking to many others in the queue and it was fascinating talking to them about their thoughts and feelings being there.
Absolutely ' moving ' is the main word for the experience.
