They got their banner read, got the publicity.
Their aim achieved .
Likely the only thing that will be reminded of this dull and revealing nothing speech.

You didn't really miss anything bots.
She said nothing new from her recent interviews.
I am a Labour supporter obviously but the Cons should have a much better leader than this useless one.
Honestly I'd like to see a change though of all 3 leaders of the main UK Parties.

That reminds me, new season of Chucky starts tonight.
I wouldn't compare the two though. One is an evil monster hell bent on ruining lives, the other is Chucky.

I’m not a political expert or encyclopaedia, so correct me if I’m wrong, but when she was waffling about the state of the country when she grew up through the 80’s and into the 90’s, wasn’t that entire period run by the Tories as well? Like never mind shooting herself in the foot, she shoots herself straight in the face whenever she opens her mouth, it’s so equally tragic and glorious that it’s almost impressive.

Yes I saw some of that arista.
One word not applicable to her speech is great.
There was really nothing at all which hadn't been heard through the leadership campaign or in recent interviews either.

What people need to ask themselves is why the Tories can't seem to find themselves a good leader?
We've literally seen the party have four consecutive incompetent leaders, that surely has to be a record.

Was Cameron incompetent? His premiership seems remarkably stable now compared to what came afterwards, although his successors have had to deal with challenges no one could have imagined back in 2015

I wasn't a fan of Cameron('s policies) but objectively, as a leader of a party, he was fine. Leastways from what I remember. But look at what we've had since :joker: so that could just be a matter of comparison.
Feel like in my adult life from like 2014 - June 2016 is more or less the only time this country has been pretty stable, past the economic crash and the worst of austerity and before the Brexit referendum, Covid, Ukraine war and cost of living crisis
i think the environment these days is that it's massive problems piled on top of massive problems. There is no way we are going to see ourselves out of this for decades and we are just going to have to accept that. The problem is that as human beings we want things we can latch on to for stability, and they are becoming fewer and fewer, so overall, the mental health of the population is on a steep decline and that can only end badly.
If you think about it, covid accelerated Putin's isolation and paranoia, without that happening he may not have taken the actions he has before dying of old age

Yeah I can't take "stable" as a descriptor for politicians seriously anymore :joker:
Teresa did the right thing in calling an election, she just didn't have the personality to pull it off successfully. If she had won by the margins predicted when she called the election, brexit would have been done and dusted there and then

Yeah if the snap election had been instant instead of both parties campaigning, she'd probably have had her landslide. The problem was ... people got to see her :joker: I get the feeling she's probably quite nice as a person, but she's a bit of a charisma vacuum. Though I did love her openly dragging BoJo at every opportunity.

She lost because her core voters turned in her with her abysmal dementia tax
Yeah when that election was called she had a huge lead in the polls. She should have gone very policy light in that campaign and just centered it on getting Brexit through like Boris did. Aside from that she could have mainly stuck with the manifesto that Cameron won a big majority with only a couple of years earlier

the best thing that can happen now is that the tory party get wiped out at the next GE and that allows "normal" tories back in the party, so in 8 years it at least would contain some sensible people again
