running away doesn't leave any evidence. Being hit over the head or dragged from the scene does .... unless the police are covering it up. Falling in the river leaves evidence too, not just a body either

could she really have run off and left her kids, i guess these things happen
Some people are just horrible; and some are incredibly desperate. It's impossible to know what happens behind closed doors.
There's no evidence of her running away though.....it doesn't make sense.
There's more evidence that she spontaneously combusted than there is of her falling into the river or walking/being kidnapped via the footpaths.

The fact is, unless she went into the water or away in a vehicle, her dog would have followed her

Everything about this case is just so weird , obviously it must be upsetting for her family & friends aswell.... It's the not knowing what happened which must be driving them mad aswell.

She distracted it with meat before she jumped onto the boat. That's literally the only way the dog wouldn't follow her anywhere.

I keep wondering why nobody heard the dog bark , surely protective instincts would kick in to protecting her owner... including if she fell in the river ,chances are the dog would try and save her and be covered in water ?? .

Or to get really tinfoil hat ...

That's not the family dog. At some point during the last walk, she swapped it with a dog of the same breed. That way, it would have no attachment to her, so no reason to want to follow her.

I don't know, not sure I buy that story, why go to all that trouble to "disappear" If she wanted to leave her life, why not just leave the house and never come back? Seems a really dramatic way to run away with an affair partner or whatever you're suggesting. It seems very unlikely

Someone falling into a river that is a foot deep, leaves traces. The stones and sediment would be disturbed. Also, a body doesn't sink in 1 foot of water, so if she was only "alone" for 5 mins, her body would have been visible in the water (assuming she somehow got knocked out) I do believe that the police are now spinning a yarn

Police reject suggestions Nicola Bulley was a victim of crime

Police have rejected suggestions that missing mother-of-two Nicola Bulley could have
been a victim of crime.

Supt Sally Riley, of Lancashire Police, said "every single" potential suspicion
or criminal suggestion that had come in, had been looked at by detectives
and discounted.

She said: 'I would like to reassure the community that nothing in this investigation so
far, it has been checked out if it has come in suggesting crime, it has been checked and discounted.

'So every single potential third party line of inquiry and potential suspicious or criminal

element has been looked at and discounted.

'It does remain our belief that Nicola sadly fell into the river and that this is a missing
persons inquiry.'

(well the diving expert who you lot use says she aint in there m8e)

If a boat had come along and she had sailed off into the sunset, surely one of the dog walkers would have seen that? I walk regularly on the river near me and never see any boats, if one were to suddenly be there I would remember that. From what I can gather the part of the river where she went missing is not particularly navigable and boats are rarely seen so I think had that happened someone would have remembered.

It comes as a close family friend of the missing mother-of-two, Tilly Ann,
today urged police to search an abandoned house and surrounding
outbuildings a short distance from the river.
(they havent????)

In an updated Facebook post, she wrote: 'The abandoned house and
outbuildings etc have not yet been searched as it is not currently a crime
investigation!!!!!! (This should have been done straight away!).'

It comes after police last night admitted that Nicola could have left the area
with a third party when she vanished during a walk with her springer spaniel
Willow at around 9.20am on January 27.

While police still maintain that she most likely fell into the river,
superintendent Sally Riley, of Lancashire Police, said it remained a
'possibility' that the 45-year-old left the area by one path not covered by
CCTV cameras - but added that 'every single' suspicion or criminal
suggestion had so far been discounted.

You can but if you drown in the shallow water like that, near that bank it doesn't seem likely your body would be washed out so far that they couldn't find it so quickly after you drowned, like the diver said. the reason social media have gone ape**** is because the police have not said .... this is what we have done, this is what we have discounted because .... this is what we are currently following up on. All they have said is that she must have fallen in the river. Faith in the police is at an all time low and their communications in this case have been dreadful

Nicola Bulley diving expert reveals video ‘proof’ she didn’t fall into
the river where cops claim she vanished

https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/missing-woman-nicola-bulley-pic-792109247-10.jpg?w=620

Dive expert Peter Faulding says a clip shows the river is slow-moving, which
means she would have sunk "very quickly".

He claims this means Nicola, 45, would have remained near where she
disappeared on January 27 if she'd fallen in.

The forensic expert also says the missing mum could have simply "stood up" in
the water as rocks at the time were under just 2ft of water.

Speaking about the video, Peter said: "The log stayed at that point for 20
minutes, and it actually spiralled and went up six feet and came back to the
same place.

"The river on the day was slightly higher - it was about a foot higher - but I'd
be very surprised in my experience [if she was there] as a body usually goes
to the bottom very quickly.

"If Nicola slipped down the bank, she would have landed in about 2ft of water
but onto rocks, and she could have stood up."

He was yesterday pictured visiting the scene where Nicola was last seen with
her partner Paul Ansell.

Peter claims Paul now believes "Nicola has not gone in that river" after
speaking with the diving experts.

Nicola Bulley can’t have ‘vanished’ – this is what the police should do now

https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article29102025.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200d/0_Nicola-Bulley-Interview-with-lead-volunteer-searcher-at-4pm.jpg

It is now 14 days since mum of two, Nicola Bulley was last seen – leaving her family, friends and the police baffled by her disappearance. Let’s be clear: people don’t just vanish, there is always an explanation.

So, what could have happened to her?

To my mind, there are three options. The first is what police have believed from day one: that Nicola fell into the River Wyre. However, even though they have made this their main focus, this is looking more and more unlikely. They have flooded the search of the river with massive resources, including private divers, which will have detracted from other areas being searched. Yet they still have no evidence to support their hypothesis that she has fallen into the river.

The other two options are therefore, in my opinion, becoming increasingly more likely: that she left of her own free will, or a third-party was involved.

The police have identified a window of opportunity of about 10 minutes, when they have no sighting or information about Nicola’s whereabouts. This is ample time – either for her to get herself some distance from the river bank and the phone, or for someone else to have been involved. I know the police have stated clearly that they have no evidence of third-party involvement or criminal behaviour, but neither do they have any evidence that she fell into the river. So, all three options must remain on the table until they are eliminated.

To date, the assumption has been that if Nicola left by what whatever means, it would have been by a path – but how can we be so certain about that? Had she left via a field or non-official path, she would not have been seen on CCTV.

A lot has been made of her mobile phone on the bench as being the location she entered the water, but evidence from the police who have thoroughly searched the area downstream to the weir tells us that this is almost certainly not the case. With the flow of the River Wyre at the time only being very slightly higher and faster, it is still not enough to drag a fully clothed, fit and healthy person far downstream. If she did lose consciousness straight away, because of the water temperature she would have sunk to the bottom.

The police have come under a lot of criticism – some founded, some very unfair. Nobody can doubt their desire to find Nicola, but what has been lacking is a clear, appropriate and effective media strategy. For example, on day one conflicting information was released about where the dog was found. They also said they were certain Nicola did not leave the area, only to follow it up a few days later saying it’s possible – because a path was not covered by CCTV.

But my biggest concern is the police concluding – within days of Nicola’s disappearance – that they had formed a working hypothesis that Nicola fell into the water and drowned. My major problem with having a hypothesis so early is it has the danger of looking for evidence to fit that theory, rather than everyone remaining open-minded.

With my experience as a former detective, I think this is what the police investigation should focus on now:

1) Conclude the water search as soon as possible – once all areas are eliminated;

2) Focus on a wider search of the fields and wooded area on land;

3) Fitbit data on average updates every 15 minutes via Bluetooth to Nicola’s phone – when did that last happen? This will help give an indication of when the watch went out of range, and if the watch was still on her wrist this could significantly helping with the time line and radius of search;

4) Reconstruction and road checks – people are creatures of habit. Most of us take the same route at the same time, on the same day, every week. This may well identify new witnesses, who have not yet come forward.

Having dealt with many families who are in the same place as Nicola’s family now tragically find themselves in, I know they hold on to every possible piece of hope. They will be watching the news and reading articles. It will be a relief for them I am sure that the brilliant forensics expert Peter Faulding did not find her, but I can tell you from experience it’s the not knowing that eats away, far more. That is why they need answers, not hypotheses.

But since I've been contributing to the case of missing Nicola, I've had a lot of abuse on YouTube just for saying I think she was abducted. Not killed but taken by someone.

I've had some really nasty comments from people who will not accept any other version of events other than she has drowned and is in the river.

We're all entitled to an opinion but I think I will stop posting comments on YouTube regarding the matter. :)

She added that Ms Bulley's winter clothes could have weighed her down and that cold water shock would have disorientated her.

'That cold water shock very quickly disorientates you and with winter clothes it's heavy and panic will set in.

'And once you start losing control it can be quite difficult to regain it.'

The retired police officer said she didn't believe that there was criminal involvement as most attacks on women are spontaneous. "

In an interview with The Telegraph, Diving expert Peter Faulding spoke about
the struggling search for Nicola, who disappeared along the River Wyre on January 27.

"Faulding said: "On the river on the day it wasn’t running very fast. I’ve spent a
lot of time with the family and they said she was so cautious, did the same
route every day, didn’t go near the river and her Fitbit shows she doesn’t go
near the river. She would have to be pushed really hard to be launched out into
the middle of the river."

Its sounds like the police have really made an almighty mess of this investigation ...they were too focussed on one outcome....similar in a way with how they treated the boys who were killed by Stephen Port they refused to believe there was a killer on the loose

It seems they were convinced or wanted everyone to believe Nicola fell in the river...and that it was an accident ,but I don't think police know now .And If she was abducted...why is there no evidence, where is the body ? . Will she ever be found...and will her family and friends ever get closure. And why is there no mention of them contacting the people on the conference call ,did they hear anything suspicious? .

Witness who found dog's harness phoned vet for help
Smith describes how, at around 09:33 GMT, a local dogwalker found Willow off her lead and Bulley's mobile phone on a bench nearby.

12:20PM
Fisherman who 'covered his face' has not come forward
A fisherman who was reportedly seen covering his face is also being traced, Detective Superintendent Smith added.

12:18PM
Police 'inundated' with false information and theories but continuing to investigate "red van"
Detective Superintendent Smith said they were continuing to track down a red van seen in the area but said she did not believe it was suspicious.

12:16PM
Derelict house has been searched three times and Nicola is not in there
Detective Superintendent Smith addressed a number of "myths" circulating online and said a derelict house opposite the site of her disappearance had been searched multiple times.

12:15PM
Investigation looking into Nicola's social media profile in coming days
Police warned public not to contact them if they saw Ms Bulley was 'online' as it would just be officers investigating her accounts.

12:12PM
'Exhaustive amount of work done' with Nicola's phone
Detective Superintendent Smith said officers had been examining Ms Bulley's phone in depth ever since it was recovered.

12:10PM
'River path has always been focus of search of routes leading away from site of disappearance'
Detective Superintendent Smith said that if Nicola had left and turned right off the path when she left she did not make it to a pub around 50 yards away.

12:06PM
Horses, dogs and helicopters involved in search
HM Coastguard, Police Marine Units, Police Dogs, West Cumbria Search and Rescue and volunteers from Specialist Search Dogs were involved in the search.

Fire and Rescue dogs and Firefighters were on the ground assisting the search efforts, as well as 24 Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue volunteers.

The National Police Air Service helicopter was deployed to search the area.

12:04PM
'Really normal for dog not to have harness on'
Detective Superintendent Smith said it was not unusual for Bulley's dog, Willow, to have its harness off while in the field.

12:03PM
Call made before disappearance was 'normal'
Detective Superintendent Rebecca Smith said the teams call Nicola was on before she disappeared was a routine one and she "did not need to have her microphone or camera on"

12:00PM
Disappearance of Nicola was graded as 'high risk' immediately, officer in charge claims
Detective Superintendent Rebecca Smith says disappearance of Nicola was graded as "high risk" immediately after police were called at 11am.

You form a number of hypothesis - those included the one she could have gone into river, that there was third party involvement and that she left area voluntarily.

Said it was her "main working hypothesis" that Nicola went into the River Wyre and it remains her belief.

She said there was not a single piece of information to suggest third party involvement.

How can exhaustive and in depth work have already been done on her phone, but her social media is yet to be examined? Surely there's only so much you can investigate on a phone without looking at social media?
