[Giovanni Pernice 'QUITS' Strictly:
Pro is 'adamant' he has done 'nothing wrong'
but scrutiny has become 'too much'
after former partners Amanda Abbington,
Laura Whitmore and Ranvir Singh
slammed his 'militant' approach]

[While the BBC has stood by him
and been keen to sign the professional
dancer for its 20th anniversary series,
Giovanni has decided to not return after
eight years on the show.]

I think it's crazy how anybody who is strict gets deemed a "bully" nowadays.

Until someone tells me that he has done anything that's seriously crossed the line, then I will defend Giovanni on these claims, it just seems like everyone is out to chase their own possibilities of victimhood at this point.

Such a shame, those women should be ashamed, he is a professional and wants the best, if they didn't want to put in the work they shouldn't have taken up the offer

He's not a bully, he's just very strict kind of teacher.

Not sure about the strictness but he's definitely a womaniser.

Mm, I'm not sure about what is going on. The BBC weren't going to investigate, now they are evidence gathering. I think his position was now untenable on the show - he would be scrutinised (rightly or wrongly)whatever he did. I am not passing judgement on whether he was a bully or not, as I don't think we will ever really know for sure what went on in the rehearsals when cameras weren't rolling.

He won't be the first coach to be accused of bullying behaviour to get the best out of their trainees.

What a shame. He is one of the most successful professionals, having won the show and coming in second place 4 times in his 8 years of participation. Former partners Rose Ayling-Ellis and Debbie McGee sing his praises. They say he does push his partners to get the best out of them but he is a absolute gentleman.

Wasn't Brendan pushed to quit aswell ?, due to his mouthy attitude .

And James was fired ? , he used to be so arrogant . I remember him being a bit of a bully when he first started.

But as for Giovanni maybe he's just a perfectionist .

How does being "abrasive" equal being a bully?

None of these people are making an actual case against the guy, they're just using sound bites to try and get the Social Media crowd on board.

As I've said previously, we need actual evidence.

Exactly Mock, and given some of his other partners have sung his praises you have to wonder if it was just a clash of personalities, and ego trips?

I am not his biggest fan as he is up himself a bit but he certainly pulled out some routines on Strictly and that was his job to get the best out of his partners

I don't think anyone should face their career being over for speaking out. I am reserving judgement at the moment, I would not be surprised if he has crossed a line but equally it could just be that the celebs are not used to a professional regime

It does sound like personalities clashed to me, or at least that's what I'm taking from what's been said so far.

And I agree with you that it's his job to get the best out of his dance partner, but it seems like holding people to any kind of standard is seen as bullying these days.

It's a job they were contracted to do so maybe they wanted to see it through  Who knows? It's being reported more people are set to come forward. I do hope it's not a witch hunt and it is investigated properly.....he's an arrogant git but if he's done nothing wrong, I hope the BBC pubically confirm it (and also if he is found to have been at fault) otherwise careers will suffer

…I’m pretty much with Annie on this in that it’s obviously a very serious and awful thing to have ‘bully’ levelled at you …it’s also a very serious and awful thing to feel bullied…so I would hate to call it either way when I don’t really know a full situation of any events etc….

That's definitely a way to put it.

I just personally believe that he is strict, which obviously nobody likes a strict Teacher when you're the one that they're being strict with, but controversially they can bring the best out in a person.

Like at Primary School, I had a helper who was really harsh on me (and tbh I never really liked her very much) but she got me to a much better place academically than I would've been without her presence.

only drama ever in the german version was with that pro dancer couple

Erich Klann & Oana Nechiti leaving the show because they felt too good to be dancing with celebrities, and felt they were underpaid :fan: which is nonsense, each pro gets a decent salary by RTL, but no one gets more salary than others, and the amount of salary you earn is determined on how far you get in the competition each year, equal pay as for what the celebrity gets etc

and Erich & Oana were spouting negativity about the show on their vlogs what they used to do, so yeah RTL wasn't happy about that either

but that is basically only drama they ever had, and now no longer much drama but more one big family among the pro's, Vadim left the show for a few years but he's back in a better form now, ever since challenging himself with doing same-sex partnerships in austrian and in german versions of the show, gave him a confidence boost he needed also for dancing with female celebrities

…I haven’t really followed the story…(…if there is a story unfolding to follow…)…but from the bits of headlines I’ve seen…?…it seems to all have gone very quickly from one person making accusations, to that person being the one who has exposed something/a behaviour that has been quite ongoing and felt by multiple people ….

I still say that I would like to hear of scenarios where bullying took place, because so far it's all soundbites for the Media.

And also considering how scared some people are of their own shadow in today's society, he could've just told them off for being late for rehearsal or making a mistake during a performance, and they're registering his strict personality as bullying.

But on the flipside, he could just be a bully tbf.

I feel like Giovanni and the accusers deserve the opportunity to explain their positions in all of this.

Because all of them are getting their reputation hit, which isn't right imo.
