We’re driving home today and will probably stop in some farm shops for some chutneys.

Had a really lovely weekend.
Tried watering the grass with a sprinkler but the heads busted. So I will just have to watch it burn.
Thought about the golf but it looks to busy and someone would smell my 10th hole spliff.
Hung the washing out. Went to co op for 4 beers, in garden relaxing with some tunes and my phone.
Might put a bet on.

One of our neighbors (not the homeowner) bought our childhood home and I visited some years back and they let me (and my husband) look around. It is quite special... especially husband didn't grow up in our area, so he got to see where I was raised. And I got to see positive changes.
I loved the area I grew up in, it was the "historic" side of town, kind of unique geography for the area, but of course pretty run down  But the right kind of rundown if that makes sense... now some of the older buildings, etc, are slowly being officially preserved. We now live in a better area, but can see all the influences and changes being made in the newer development and changes that were inspired from the old.

Yeah. Coupled with having extremely flat feet, I want to go under the knife this year, get my feet properly sorted. The bunions, the potential gout and cramps that follow. It can be a lot. It’s better I have surgery on top of whatever-else there might be to treat these issues.

Magnesium spray (like epsom salts) or even Slomag work wonders on anything to do with muscle...

Surgery is never fun. Hopefully it is easy enough for you to recover but even so pays off longterm. Little is more valuable than our health.

Looking good there!
Our local Popshelf has all its inflatable sprinklers on significant markdown because they're already getting in Halloween stock :skull:... so what did I buy? A giant 6ft rainbow... for $9, because why not...
It was a little work to inflate. We inflated it on my husband's birthday but we've had it up for a day or so. So when I walk by the back door/window and I look out, there's now this giant rainbow sitting there and every once in a while our pups run through it to chase squirrels. It's very amusing.

…it is very huge, I love it……
It is very huge. It looked big as we were pulling it out of the box. It looked even bigger when we were blowing it up  I had to hang it over the car door to be able to charge it up (with air) using an air compressor for my car... then we figured out later we could've just used the Shop Vac. It took about 30-45 minutes to fill.
Thanks for compliments on the lawn  My backyard is almost completely St Augustine grass, so it repairs pretty quickly and loves high temps. We're supposed to be 37-38C tomorrow (today?). I have it set right now really high to keep hydrated. A lot of warm grasses (in our climate) usually have runners that run across the topsoil so don't go deeply underground so they like to be tall. St Augustine needs 3-4" this time of year (It's at 3.75").
My dogs look like they're in a grass pillow when they're sunbathing so it goes well with the massive rainbow with the cloud pillows in the bottom
I came in after mowing the front today and daughter was very happy under her rainy rainbow and had her arms up in the air exclaiming "It's a big rainboow! It's so beautifuuuul!".

…yeah for sure, that’s no quick task to fill that up…I can see that…but so, so worth it…I would never tire of looking out of a window and seeing that in my garden…such a beautiful and uplifting garden scape to give Miss Maru every day……and the grass really is so lush……we’ve had such a dry/hot summer so far…the grass is coming back a bit now but it’s been quite straw like and brown for a while…

It sounds like your grass has already gone dormant? It's been very moist here this year so maybe it'll make it to the UK somehow...
 And thanks. I move it a little bit each day so that it doesn't kill everything underneath. At least until I get the heart to deflate it for storage. :spin: I don't want it to get sun bleached but my daughter is absolutely loving it atm taking her daily childhood pilgrimages to the courtyard (her words) to visit the big rainbow.

I'm thinking about going back and picking up another one because in-laws are flying in later in the year so may send it up to my child's cousins for their Christmas... which won't be used until next year, but yeah.
It's got a lot of colour to it, which is refreshing to see that designs like that are still around in a sea of beige.

…yeah 6:1 is what it’s saying, which is why you felt it also…that’s quite a significant quake…I know someone who was in Turkey last week also, very scary for all …
Earthquake of magnitude 6.1 strikes western Turkey, disaster authority says
Aug 10 (Reuters) - An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 struck western Turkey on Sunday, the country's AFAD disaster management authority said, while local media said the quake was felt across multiple provinces.
AFAD said the quake occurred at around 7:53pm local time in the Balikesir province, near Turkey's biggest city Istanbul, but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage in any of the affected provinces.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on X that emergency teams from AFAD had started inspections around Istanbul and the neighbouring provinces but that no negative reports had come through so far.
AFAD said the quake struck at a depth of 11 km (6.8 miles), while the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) registered the earthquake's magnitude at 6.19 and a depth of 10 km.

Well, this morning was supposed to be a trip to the dentist for littles but she's been puke-y for some reason. Husband had just told me that he thinks he has a sinus infection... anyway, I thought maybe it was a one off this morning since it was just a spit up but she full on vomited on the way to the dentist after we got something for her stomach. So when I took her in, I let them know and we rescheduled... then I told her "Well, I guess you'll just have to lay in bed and watch Clifford all day then" and she goes "O-KKKKkkk" (As in "Fiiiiine)... the dude that was waiting in the dentists almost lost it...
She's been cute all morning, but definitely very snotty. Otherwise seems to be fine.

Nice, that'll help your lawn with heat stress and recovery. Hopefully you won't get too many weeds though.. we had multiple storms a week across a good part of the summer and there's parts of the lawn I'm still working on that I had to go up a lot crab grass because storms were constant... I maybe only had to water 2 or 3 times across the season... very abnormal...

Yes, it does feel good to be productive! I have visitors from Ireland coming today so I'm doing a bit of a refresh partly due to that. I still have one curtain to do today and two loads of laundry, I want to clean the back splash in the kitchen with a magic eraser. I might also replace the silicone around the bath because it is discoloured but that might wait for another day as it is clean, just not aesthetically pleasing.

Could dry the for wood chips for smoking food? Depending on the wood/the actual size of the chips etc.
Scots Pine... Don't know if you can use that but if I could, I could smoke food for the rest of my life and have wood chips left over.

…awwww Glenn, I'm so, so sorry……I know though how much it meant to both of you to have spent these times together as you have…I know how stunned you must be feeling right now……

I'm sorry to hear that, Glenn. My grandfather passed not long ago and was also in nursing. I used to take short roadtrips to visit and really miss those trips. I think about those trips everytime you post about your Nan. He is now free from pain and dementia. I am so glad you were able to make the most of your time and get your chances to see her. You will certainly cherish that for the rest of your life and they will live on through the stories you are able to tell of them.

All summer long wasps, around 2 or 3 a day have been getting into my
bathroom from behind my sink, there has to be a nest in the eaves or vent duct
or something - so every day i have to get them into my toothbrush water cup
and then launch them out of the top window to freedom, sometimes they are
on the window sometimes on the floor - so im just back and i had to get one on
the floor - earlier one was on the window when i was having a shower - i check
the shampoo bottle as one or two have been on there and iv nearly grabbed
one. I only got stung once under the arm and it itched for 4 days. They will all
be dead in the next few weeks :spin:

That happened to our HVAC vent. The AC man went to open up the pipe to check it for blockages and a well-toasted nest fell to the bottom. Almost cost us $1000 or at least a very annoying DIY job.
There's a few nests I keep knocking down and they just keep rebuilding. I'm afraid they'll get into the vent again. Thankfully they're docile papers so they don't really seem to care about anything. They just have high very work ethic and so remain unbothered by my attempts to stop them.
They don't usually go dormant until November for us, though...
I just destroyed a ton of weeds. Getting cooler here so lawn is holding more moisture so I dropped my mower deck a notch. Still feels carpet-y

I volunteered at a Food-Bank yesterday.
Yesterday because I had murdered portions of the yard, I thought to myself "oh I feel so good... I'm so glad I didn't have allergies after that".. cue this morning... I wake up after dreaming I had trouble breathing and so had to double up on allergy meds and hit my inhaler after not having needed it for months.
Yeah, next time masking up because I'm not even done.
It's possible I'm getting a sinus infection because husband has been fighting one and off and several people I know have gotten them, so it is getting around. Hard to say. I've felt bad enough to think that and then the next day be perfectly fine (by comparison).
That said, this meme made me feel happier:

Went to a food festival today. Sampled loads of foods and drinks. Purchased loads of food and drinks (lots of cheeses, chutneys and honey spiced rum). Had some Indian street food there and a cheeky pint with live music. Held a snake and did some axe throwing.

Hot cheetooos for my sinuses and working on testing some cuts... someone asked me to re-vector a bottle label so they could turn it into a sticker for their friends motorcycle and honor the memory of a loved one... I took the most delicate portion and cut it just to make sure it even transfers... the colors are just random scraps.

Anyway, eating food from an Igbo yam-festival in Manchester and going for a little drinkie is all I managed to muster up yesterday, besides an optician-appointment. No after-party (which was on-offer), no bat-watching, no back-of-the-limo. antics. Just a few bits and bobs.

I swapped out my drafting chair for one we had put away in the shed for hub's reloading bench and it's made a world of difference, so far. A 1997 (a great year) Steelcase, but it still feels great

We had a good rain so I pulled more weeds and I also transplanted some St Augustine runners. Hoping to have most areas of the lawn recovered/filled in by next Spring.
I woke up really early this morning because I'd worked late the night prior and so my sleep is a little messier. Glad I did. Got to enjoy some nice chill temps in my backyard before it gets hot for the day.
Bought some dried lavender and lavender oil for today. I had bought lavender tie bags that I was going to add vinyl to and decorate. Because I had a few, I thought I'd take some and turn them into scented bags for sleeping (greatly timed) and possibly gift one to MIL as she is a big traveler.
