I don’t even like fresh cucumber (and the smell of that makes me sick), so it’s a definite no from me.

For me a Cheeseburger or Quarter Pounder has to have Gherkins on them, or it's not a proper version of those Burgers in my eyes.:joker:
I love them.

Apparently there are genetic reasons why some people literally can’t stand the smell or taste (for me the smell is worse than the taste, but neither work for me) or cucumber while others love it. For better or worse, depending on who you are, pickling gherkins and cucumbers in vinegar/brine only amplifies the vibe of cucumber.
I like the idea of cucumber in terms of hydration, skincare (less-so, though; that’s not a dealbreaker for me) and just fresh vitality but I can’t even get past the smell so I just can’t. I tend to stick to celery, water and watermelon (and stuff like it) when I want the give the old hydration-nugget a boost.
Just drink more water

…no, but I don’t like a burger so that was never going to work for me…

I usually order with extra gherkins. And take my OH’s as he doesn’t like them.

Kiosks with customisation-options are a godsend for peeps like me. As I voted in the poll, I don’t even like salad-ingredients on my burger (so no to lettuce, mayo. and raw tomato). Just the meat, some melted cheese (if it fits), maybe some crispy bacon (again, if it fits)/ketchup and, like, that’s it, basically. No salad-esque ingredients and certainly no pickle/gherkin. Gross.

Now that is food that I just can't stand.
Celery has to be the most bland food on the planet imo.

Hmm, to be fair, I’d rather take bland over actively gross (as far as my personal senses are concerned, of-course). I don’t mind a good celery.
It’s always interesting to see how everyone’s individual likes and dislikes vary greatly when it comes to food.

Lol, I literally put my eyes to good practice every time I order a burger. Even if I’ve customised it on the kiosk down to just the way I want it, or I’ve ordered a burger from a joint (like a chippy) where burgers don’t tend to come with pickle anyway, I always screen the ting, just to be sure there’s no hidden pickle lurking there by-accident. If it’s a double or triple, I’ll go through and pre. each individual layer. That’s how much I hate pickle.
You onto these candy sucking-pickles shops seem to be stocking at the moment, since you like pickle?

That’s my stance ..
I have ultra sensitive taste buds so many things like the two things mentioned plus other stuff like curry , spices , mushrooms (taste and texture) are just decidedly unpleasant . Weird textures like mushrooms are also a no no .
So everyone says I only eat bland food but to me it’s great .

The funny thing is, I love all-those things you mentioned (most spices, curry and mushrooms). But I’d never begrudge you over blandness of palate. Not that. I’d take a bland celery-stick over a sea of pickles any day of the week, too.
food is such an interesting subject. It is determined by smell, texture, look and taste and combinations of all of them. I don't think there is anything else that needs to satisfy so many different criterea .... and that's why you will always get so many different responses
Yes! I don't eat a lot of beef burners but when I do I make sure I put them in. A sometimes just eat them out of the jar.
I love a good Ruben style sarnie, too. Some pastrami or salt beef, pickles, some melty cheese and mustard on some nice rye bread - food of the gods!

I agree.
Me and my Brother disagree on food all of the time.
But it can be fun discussions.

I only really have Pickles at McDonald's tbh.
I have got to branch out more and try them on other things.

I’m pretty-much the same.
Do you like those cranberry-brioche-esque burgers that Wetherspoons sometimes does at Christmas?

I’m sure steak’s still there, but then I don’t venture into Wetherspoons these days as much as I used to, so I can’t even be sure.
Burger-King burgers are some of the best, IMO, but I like the simplicity of a chippy-burger as-well (which, like I say, don’t even tend to come with pickles by default at-all).

No they removed whole grill menu and replaced with more burgers..at least in our local one

By the way, Vicky, if you ever get to Liverpool, peradventure, there’s this restaurant/beef-house, apparently, called Herd and the premise/foundation of it is (supposedly) high-quality steak, but they’ve got a smattering of chicken-dishes (like honey-chicken wings with blue-cheese mayo.), panko-fried tiger-prawns, maple-glazed chorizo and lots of other side-bites. It sounds like it’d be up your street, so I just thought I’d mention it.

Salad on burgers wouldn’t be so bad if cabbage (which I actually love) was the default rather-than lettuce. I used to just put up with the lettuce, likewise for in coleslaw, but as the years have gone on I’ve become more discriminating in terms of filtering out what I don’t like, and that goes for Big Macs from Maccie-D’s, too. The sauce was always my least-favourite part of Big Macs, even when I was alright with them overall, but ever-since I found out that the sauce is akin to tartar (which, by association, even spoils the idea of fish and chips for me at this point) and that much of that taste that I always found a little funny is down to pickle/gherkin, I can’t even go there anymore. If I get a Big Mac, it has to be plain now. A far cry from the 8-year-old me that would just munch it down as-is, even with those less likeable elements (lettuce, pickle-infused sauce).
As a kid, I was only fussy about not having mayo. on my Chicken Sandwich (again, from McDonald’s), but pre. kiosk-customisation, that wasn’t really possible (without asking directly anyway, which I never did), so I’d usually just take the burger home and scrape off all the unwanted bits (mayo., I guess; lettuce, which I can’t even remember if it comes on a Maccies chicken-sandwich by default at this point, I didn’t mind so much as-of that time, in burgers and coleslaw). I’d always take out the pickle in my quarter-pounders and so-on when I found out that it was that which slightly tainted the experience of these burgers for me but I was 15 when I started asking directly at the counter to have pickles left out (when I could be bothered). I was once charged 10p extra for it, which is just weird.

Only tried them once and loved them. Will have to attempt some myself soon.
You can get gherkin crisps now too, they’re lush.
