If Chris McCausland, Hamza, and Rose can all win their respective years when there were better dancers than them, then George is fair game imo.
He isn't my personal choice but at least if he were to win, it wouldn't be some kind of "feel good" factor that most of the recent Strictly winners have been selected imo.

People don't like trained dancers cheating their way to a win. We've seen George, a complete novice, improve every week. If you want to watch people who can already dance, this isn't the show for you.
Rose Ayling Ellis was a brilliant dancer, the best of her year. Her deafness only matters to people who didn't want her to win, for some reason.
I never watch this program but assumed that only non dancers were involved in the process
What’s the point if fairly decent dancers are competing against complete beginners ?
Anyone who has had any kind of dance lessons or experience should be excluded

George winning or Karen winning is what this show is about tbh, non dancers and get better every week. If Lewis or Amber wins then what’s the point? They are already, or have been involved in dancing before.
People also just like Lewis because he’s a good looking guy

umm no, we need Mark Cavendish still at some point though, and he unlike Lewis can do a Kelvin Fletcher sort of arc i think, considering Mark is very charismatic, likeable, and always has been honest about his background, how it helped him for his cycling career, would more come across as a ''full circle moment'' rather than too much ringer backlash i think, and he said he is open to doing other projects now he's retired

basically similar to Hilaria Baldwin :fan: although Hilaria had a longer time in dance competitions, at Blackpool even

I doubt Karen's had that much experience. I mean, I danced as a child no one in their right mind would call me a trained dancer. Loads of people dance as children. Someone who's danced in a wide variety of shows in the West End and someone who's been a good enough dancer as a kid to star in Billy Elliot.... it's hardly the same thing as going to dance classes as a child.

John and AJ were both better dancers than Rose in that year imo, their routines were less repetitive I thought personally.
And I do believe that Rose got extra votes due to sympathy, in fairness to Rose and the other disabled contestants, they aren't the only ones on Strictly to ever get a sympathy vote (Hamza had it in his year) and according to one poll that I've seen tonight, it looks like Balvinder might be getting a sympathy vote.
Bill Bailey tbf was another one too who kind of got patronized by some of the public and definitely by the judges in hindsight.

People like different people for different reasons. It was hard to separate some of the dancers, but to say people only voted for Rose out of sympathy is wrong. I voted for Rose because she, for me, was the better dancer. No sympathy involved.
People aren't looking for perfection. People want to see someone who starts from scratch and improves every week. Otherwise Amber or Lewis would win this year... But I guarantee that won't happen.

musical theatre ain't the same as latin and ballroom dancing either though
completely different
but as if i care about who wins, i just said in this thread that George would be on the same level of Chris Hollins if he wins, but tbf Ricky Whittle was a runner up and he ended up with the better career post-show so, as the DILF that was Lincoln on The 100
and honestly Amber was a last minute entrant, so i doubt she'd feel sad just being possibly a finalist, and now Lewis is out i see way improved chances for her, she still has a secret weapon left in her couples choice (maybe another 40 idk) and tbh with 2 dances, love her or dislike her, but Amber i feel more confident with, in terms of capability of doing well with both routines, rather than a George, Bal as novices whom might struggle some more having to cope with learning two dances this week, Karen might also do decently i think but not better than Amber

AI Overview
Former England footballer Karen Carney had significant childhood dance experience, training in various styles like street, hip-hop, disco, and ballroom from toddlerhood until age 15, when she chose football, but this background contributed to her agility and impressed viewers on Strictly Come Dancing in 2025, where she excelled despite not training in Latin/Ballroom recently. Her prior training gave her rhythm and confidence, though she had to relearn fundamentals for the show, finding joy and a return to competitive feeling in the ballroom.
Karen Carney
Details of Her Dance Background:
Early Start: Carney began dancing as a toddler, attending dance clubs and competitions.
Styles: She trained in diverse genres, including street, hip-hop, disco, rock 'n' roll, and slow dancing.
Intensive Training: Around age 12, she trained at Steptoes Dance School multiple times a week.
The Choice: At 15, she decided to focus on football, leaving dance behind.
Karen Carney believes her dancing background gave her the twinkle toes that helped her become a Lionesses legend.
Here, she tells her story of how she went from a disco diva to a wizard on the wing:
“I started dancing when I was just a toddler because my older sister went to a dance club.
“It started out as just something to do but I loved it. It was mainly me just jigging about but I went every week.
“It wasn’t until I moved to Steptoes Dance School in Halesowen when I was 12 that things got more serious and I started going three or four times a week. It was there that I started to compete in some big events.
“I enjoyed football when I was a kid and had loads of kickabouts, but I didn’t join my first club until I was 11. Until then, it was all about dancing for me. We did loads of different routines and genres of music; street dancing, hip-hop, disco, rock ‘n roll, slow dancing, team dances, everything.
The lying little turdess !!
The TNT and ITV pundit, from Solihull, said she had done "a little bit of hip-hop" as a youngster but that her only other dance experience was in nightclubs, which might have involved a little breakdancing.
"I think the breakdancing was when we used to go out on nights out with the team and I was forced into dancing-off with other people in the nightclub," she said.

Slow dancing? That's a genre I've never heard of. Sounds as made up as the majority of the rest of this information. She didn't go to stage school, she's never danced professionally and she's never starred in the West End. Playing Billy Elliot like Lewis calls for classical training which gives a grounding for all kinds of dance. Ask Darcy Bussell. We all know Amber's credentials.
I danced until I was 12 or 13 like lots of little girls. I don't consider myself a trained dancer, that would be stupid. And frankly, calling her a "lying turdess" is too strong for my taste....

Slow dancing is a simple, intimate partner dance focusing on swaying to slow music, often called the "hug and sway," involving basic steps like forward-and-back movement with weight transfer, commonly using a "fox trot" or "foxy" style for beginners, incorporating a gentle sway and rotation, and is popular at social events like weddings for its relaxed, romantic feel poo

A few interesting snippets .
------
Ginge quickly covered up by saying there were 13 sweets, and Kelly ate the first of the extra three, suggesting that he and Aitch only ate one extra sweet each (the trio split 10 sweets between them and it was Aitch’s idea).
------
Vogue exclaimed, ‘Snakes in the camp!’ before she added, ‘I’m kind of surprised at Kelly. Oh my god! That’s desperate… I’d never do that.’
----
Kelly said: ‘It was a joint idea.
‘People weren’t sharing the contraband so that butter should have gone into a nice bowl of rice and shared out between everybody, and it didn’t.
‘Shona ate the lot, so the minute she ate the lot, I was like, right? Every man took every man for himself, and when we saw those milk bottles, you know, it’s very hard to divide 19 milk bottles between people.
—-/
Jack Osbourne said : "The thievery in this camp! When they got the milk bottles, they ate three of them before bringing them back."
Interesting
:::
When Ginge tries to argue that it was "only fair" as they won the challenge to win the treats, Aitch jumps in.
"It didn't go down like that. We thought, 'How are we going to split 14 between 10 people.' And then Kelly went, 'Right - go on then.'
"She put one in her mouth and so we had three and there were ten left which we brought back to camp."
Ginge then adds: "But Kelly is the blame for it, I will say that. You'll see when you get out!" to which Martin says: "If you eat something, you're to blame ! “

Why would you suggest everyone who gives votes to those you're not keen on is a sympathy vote? I voted for Karen and Bal this week because I genuinely thought Balvinder has improved from her beginner status and is now quite impressive. I read in the paper yesterday a quote from a Strictly fan who posted while the show was on, "Oh look! There's Amber doing her day job". The article said producers were now clearly aware that the audience will not let professional dancers win. I get that. And yet the suggestion is that if the two professionals end up in the dance off, people must be showering sympathy on someone else. I said from the start the professionals will not be allowed to win and I really don't mind which of the non-dancers take the glitter ball. . No sympathy involved.

Of course.. what else could it be ??
She’s a bonny wee lass .. but she’s totally out of her depth talking about elite level football
What makes it worse is she’s so arrogant and she goes on like she played at the same level as the players she regularly criticises and talks like one of the boys in the pub.
She rarely even comes up with anything she simply recycles what someone else just said or says “ yes I agree with Geoff “
Sadly she’s typical of all the female pundits apart from Sue Smith on Sky Saturdays who is fabulous in comparison

Kaz has had good routines with all honesty, but last saturday her samba was not good and deservedly bottom of the leaderboard, Carlos should've studied Joe & Katya's cabaret money samba a lot better, in terms of combining fosse style with basic samba content
i hope she reprises her charleston in the final as that was the first dance i actually liked from her and Carlos, and no i don't worry about her chances, pretty sure she'll top the public votes, with a small gap to George
and i think the queen of dance offs Balvinder will meet her match in Amber in the last dance off of the series, also i'd wish Balvinder would no longer cry, nothing to cry about, i mean 5 dance offs and now she is a semi finalist, no reason for any tears lol

He has my vote if Bal doesn't make the final

People were openly admitting on DS and Social Media that they were giving spare votes to Balvinder this week because she cried, and they felt sorry for her because of it.
But some of these people that did that particular vote are moaning about Karen and George beating Lewis, when most of their fans didn't go around giving spare votes to Balvinder.
Basically anybody that voted for Balvinder to stay but then moaning about Lewis leaving need to take accountability for their vote, rather than moaning about Karen being more popular with the public on the night.

Actually, looking at the poison coming from Zizu and Nicky, I hope Karen wins.

I don't pay any attention to social media. I'd rather Amber had gone. I think she has couple's choice this week so even if she's in the dance off, which I think he will be, the judges will save her. Again. I'd rather Lewis had stayed over her last week because he's much more likeable and at least doesn't dance for a living now.

if Lewis had one of his own smash crowdpleasing routines last week he'd have stayed, but his salsa was his weakest dance
and Amber has momentum on her side now, with a 40 for her Jive, now a 40 for her charleston, a likely 39 or 40 for the couples choice i think, and then a possible final she can keep that momentum going for the showdance i think
and now without Lewis, she is technique wise the strongest of the top 4, and i'd say based on the songs/dances this week, Balvinder the weakest, i have not much hopes for her in the Salsa, that waltz might boost her score a bit more upwards but i think Bal will be bottom of the leaderboard, and i can also see it happen that George outscores Karen especially George's charleston i reckon to be a good one for him, Karen and the salsa might be a good chance of redemption for last weeks samba flop, and the waltz well it depends on if they worked hard on her posture/core frame
so my thoughts of this weeks possible leaderboard
1. Amber & Nikita 39 or 40 (CC) & 38 or 39 (Tango)
2. George & Alexis 38 or 39 (Charleston) & 36 or 37 (Samba)
3. Karen & Carlos 35 or 37 (Salsa) & 37 or 38 (Waltz)
4. Balvinder & Julian 32 or 34 (Salsa) & 37 or 38 (Waltz)

Yeah I think that Amber will make the final.
Craig in particular has a bias towards her.

I would not be against a george win. I mean hes the only finalist on the tour to be fair..he made a massive improvement over the last few weeks. But Karen remains my favourite

i mean, i'm harmless, compared to those toxic trolls on facebook
they called George evil, how he lasted further than Lewis, and they criticize Amber for being a ringer, yet they supported Lewis and denied him being a ringer
good on both George and Amber for having highlighted this at BBC Breakfast, and good on them for mostly focusing on the positive comments rather than the negative hate comments

i mean i prefer Amber over Lewis, but i don't say anything nasty about Lewis either
the thing i love about Amber is more how extra she is as a performer, in terms of facial expressions, being such a perfect student basically, she reminds me so much of Pixie Lott whom also had that bit of oomph with her performances with Trent, fun fact btw Trent still works at the show, next to Jason Gilkison for group number choreographies
