There's a Coronation Street and Emmerdale Crossover episode tonight.
A massive stunt. I'm so excited :amazed:

I always wanted Dirty Den to swagger into the Rovers Return all those years ago but it never happened … or something similar

It seemed such a brilliant way of getting more viewers interested - wonder why on earth it’s taken so long !?!

I think Eastenders should definitely do one. Would be amazing.
Hollyoaks did a Crossover with Brookside and it was fabulous.

It's a massive stunt, very ambitious. I'm just happy to see characters from different soaps interact :amazed:

They have proof that stars / characters can cross over or interact with other stars/ characters in all these Superhero collaborations

A clip just on Ch5 News

Showed one Car go up in flames
Some are running from it.

They showed a photo of a Distant Fire Engine

I am recording this episode
even though I have not watched them

I assume a Corrie is driving right into a Dale car

Could be a death in this

What would Eastenders cross over with though? Corrie and Emmerdale are on the same Channel....same with Hollyoaks and Brookside. Unless they revive Eldorado, there is no ither BBC soap... unless yih class Casualty. They woukd never do a cross channel cross over due to funding disparities

EastEnders did it with Coronation Street years ago for children in need

Can’t see why they couldn’t work something out between Corrie and Eastenders especially given today’s technology tbh

why is it always a big accident could they not have got them together at Debbies wedding as part of different families, so bored with these accidents, and poor Billy ...great way to go out but still ...**** Theo

Kat & Bev should have their own spin off , with all the leopard print lol .

ITV will probably edit it out due to some recent car crash in Australia.

Technology isnt the issue....its the funding. They are rival channels, one publically funded, one funded by adverts. Everything comes down to money. Whuch channel would it air on? There are huge competitors for viewing figures. I agree it would be good to see but i cant ever see it happening

They both have English speaking actors and actresses and English writers/directors so the rest is easy - just see what happens if the viewing figures are exceptionally high !!

Ultimately... even if the viewing figures are higher than normal ones -.they missed their chance .

They should have done this two or three decades ago when viewing figures of 20 million per episode were not uncommon ..

Apparently Eastenders regularly gets viewers between 3 and 4 million currently

Yeah .. and double that 30 + years ago

It’s because nobody watches actual live tv anymore and records everything or watches catch up or box sets or one of the other viewing options

That said we stopped watching soaps when they started feeding us storylines and upcoming trailers

Back in the day nearly every Corrie episode would end on a nail biting note and you had to wait 3 or 4 days for the next episode to see what happens

Soooooo i fast forwarded through this special episode…

Sooooo why were there about 60 people presumably all from Coronation Street and Emmerdale all on a narrow country road in the wee small hours ??

Is he a Dingle by any chance?

The Traitors, Strictly, and Gavin & Stacey's Christmas Special does kind of go against this though.

The main five channels in this country for the most part create rubbish that most people don't want to watch, the same in America with most of their Streaming platforms.

Yes, that's Sam Dingle
Ironically the actor couldn't be more different from the character he plays. A smart guy.
