As for who we'll send...it'll be one ex-member of a pop band from 2001, or some crazy has-been. I'd like for us to, one year, send somebody like the Sugababes or Girls Aloud just to see what happens :P or the Spice Girls, haha.

I don't think the UK, Ireland or any other Western European Nation will ever win it again as long as the Eastern European Countries keep voting for themselves. The richer nations should withdraw their funding and let us see if the Eastern Countries enjoy the contest as much when they have to pay for it themselves.

Actually it does cost a lot of money to stage, especially now there is a semi-final as well. Most Eastern European TV stations have a limited budget( It nearly bankrupted the Latvians in 2003). Without the western funding the contest could not happen. It would teach them not to bite the hand that feeds you.:nono:

I'm from Hungary. My fav Eurovision country is the UK. My fav songs are Javine: Touch my fire, Daz Sampson: Teenage life, Gine G: Ohh a just a little bit etc. I think UK should send the Spice Girls( or one of them) to Belgrad. I think 2008 will be a good year, because the new voting system is against the political voting(ex Yugo countries etc.)
And what are you think about the Hungarian entries??? Nox? or Magdi Rúzsa?

The newspaper today said that Chanelle is the new hot favourite to represent the UK. She's classically trained, grade seven violin, has a good singing voice, an A* student, and is apparently in the middle of producing a 'hot' dance track.
It's also said that producers want Ziggy there for the rivalry but no-one particularly cares about him x3

I REALLY hope she gets to the final six.

Breaking news: Serbia postpones national final

Serbian broadcaster RTS postponed the national selection Beovizija 2008, after recent developments in Kosovo. The Serbian province declared itself independent Sunday afternoon, after long negotiations over its status could not lead to a solution of mutual agreement.
The semi-final and final of the Serbian national final were scheduled for this Tuesday and Wednesday. A new date for Beovizija 2008 will be announced in due time, says Executive Producer Sandra Suša, adding that the decision was taken "in consultation with the board of RTS". Participating broadcasters have until the 17th of March to deliver their song for the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest to the European Broadcasting Union.

Svante Stockselius, Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest, said to Eurovision.tv: "The decision to postpone a national final is entirely up to to respective broadcaster - this also counts for RTS. All 43 participating countries should deliver their song no later than the 17th of March and there are no reasons to believe the Serbian entry won't be among them."

Fans and press already raised the question if the political situation between Serbia and Kosovo could affect the planning of the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade. "There are no reasons to believe the preparations of the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest are in danger," assured Stockselius, who is - as every year - closely working together with the Host Broadcaster for the upcoming contest. The two Semi-Finals of the 53rd Eurovision Song Contest take place on the 20th and 22nd of May, the Final on Saturday the 24th of May.

kalomira is 100% greek she was brought up in the new york but came over to greece to make it big! she wanted to learn more about her roots. In 2005 she entered Fame Story (Greece's Fame Acadamy) She won it and made it HUGE over in greece

Tonight Ireland chose are entry our of 6 hopefuls.

Numro 1 was a Zac Efron wannabee (although he was SO fit!), then we had this talented but very freaky Whinehouse meets Melua type singer called Leona, we also had a very typical eurovision ballad and a "golden oldie" type song.

Dustin, the Turkey, had mixed reception from the crowd. Some bigging him up but other booing. Dana, who won eurovision years ago dissed all the entries saying they "weren't the right song" and she said Dustin was a joke, which we all know but we love him for it. Louis Walshe was also judge and was brill as always.

Dustin's song was called "Irelande Douze Points" and it as a dance song - it was genius! pure class!

Results at 9:45pm and I hope he gets it.
