They've both been the first singles off two (what looks set to be) hugely successful Madonna albums - but which single do you prefer, and why?

For me it's a tricky decision, I love both. I can see 4 Minutes being one of my favourite songs of the year...but Hung Up was just amazing. The whole disco-themed album was one of my favourites of all time.

Hung Up hands down. For me 4 minutes is a mistake in her career, it happens sometimes.

Hung Up is a better song based on it's own merits, however 4 Minutes appeals to me more.

As much as I respect it's your opinion, that's a **** one

She's pretty much one of the best musicians ever.

I love them both, but I'd say the album version of "Hung Up" because it really is Madonna at what she does best: dance. However, the remixes for "4 Minutes" are amazing; you should check out the Bob Sinclair Space Funk Remix, it's a godsend.

I'd rather listen to Shabnam's song that any of Madonna's rubbish.

She is a talentless. All she has going for her is her "ooh soo brilliant star quality". She can't sing and her dancing is awful.

Like my sig says - a disgrace to music.

She may have been back in her day, but theres nothing worse than knowing Madonna is somewhere in her 50s prancing about in her pink leotard as if shes 18.

You can dislike madonna as much as you like , but there's no denying she is a good, talented singer. even if you think she's crap, you cannot possibly say "she's not good". it's just fact that she is good.

She's 49 (and looks great on it in my opinion). I admit it can be slightly cringe worthy and embarassing but it shouldn't make her music crap. She is still a fantastic performer and an amazing talent.

I do quite like 4 minutes , kinda catchy. Hung Up (Confessions On A Dancefloor) were focusing more towards a pop/dance direction which I didn't like. 4 Minutes is more hip-hop/pop direction(?) which I really quite like.

Wtf?

How can she be a disgrace to it when she continues to revolutionise it? She's the only musician around today, that I can think of, who has adapted to every popular style of music; pop, dance, rock, country, r&b, hip-hop...

Sure, she hasn't got an amazing voice, but does she need one? She writes and produces her own stuff, and is amazing at writing catchy hits, and especially performing them.

A disgrace to music? She made music what it is today.

I always say there's no such thing as a wrong opinion, but that is one.

Shes an excellent entertainer and peformers and celebrity but the fsct of the matter is that she is merely an average singer.

All Madonna has is "star quality" and that isn't what it used to be. She isn't talented IMO obviously people will disagree. But I have every right to say what I believe is talented and not.

Everything she does touched to gold - no denying that. But that's not her! Thats the people behind Madonna. Madonna is a franchise - but that doesn't make her talented.

Revolutionise music!!? What? Everything she has done has been done countless times before. Its also a shame she has to use new people half her age in order to get publicity (Justin/Britney).

Her voice is awful, her dancing is worse and preforming live is like watching angry cat have a epileptic fit on stage.

IMO, obviously

I admit, I'm a hardcore Madonna fan myself, but I still see her flaws. To say that she's a franchise is ridiculous, that would mean that she was manufactured and Madonna is anything but that. There are so many things that Madonna has contributed to music that it's invariably impressive. I still think that her most unparallelled contribution is the fusion of electronic music within pop (Ray of Light 1998), becoming the first mainstream artist to do so. Without that breakthrough, who knows how much different music would be? Madonna basically built the music video era, taking the crown for most provocative and well-developed videos from Michael Jackson. With more VMA nominations and wins than any other artist in history, she has also challenged the mainstream social norms of society and without Madonna, it's possible that so many of the fads and rebellioins that we see today may not exist. Having seen her perform live twice (Re-Invention in 2004 and Confessions in 2006), I can tell you that she has perfected the art of touring. She has seemlessly blended graphics, music, performing, and dancing to another level. Her stage layouts are groundbreaking, with her 1993 tour The Girlie Show being one of the first tours to have a runway, something that is consistently used nowadays. Madonna's use of technology is astounding and her tours contain some of the most advanced lighting, video, and sound production in the music industry. For what she spends, it's well worth it and I'm not ashamed to say that I paid £200 to see her in concert.

4 Minutes I think.
