I didnt like Charleys fake eviction, i mean it was good but the only part i didnt like was the silent crowd, i just hate when a housemate walks out of the door and theres silence.

I think there was a lot of atmosphere with Charley's fake eviction, it was very tense with lots of anticipation even though it was silent.

I prefer a crowd, theres more atmosphere especially when Davina is talking to the house. When she has done it in silence it feels very flat.

It needs a crowd. Just unfortunate that each crowd contains a few dozen plonkers who boo the silliest things.

Needs a Crowd to give it a good atmosphere... if only people wouldn't boo when it wasn't necessary.. when Charley was evicted it was right because she wasn't nice in there but to boo someone on the way in is C.R.A.Z.Y!

I would say no crowd but only because of the current mob that is always there, booing any attractive female even if they haven't done anything wrong.

If the crowd was more varied I would be happy for them to keep the crowd.

A crowd is what adds to the asmosphere without it seems abit flat.

Difficult one - I don't like them right outside the house, and I hate the unnecessary booing. It's fine when the HMs deserve it, but half the time they really don't and so often the mob are out of touch with the general opinion of viewers.

If they remained they should be moved back towards the studio (like in BB4). Personally I think they could do without for general evictions - I quite liked the set up in Celeb BB2 with a small crowd in the studio, but they could still be heard in the background as the evictee left the house. If axed from evictions though, they should be kept for the launch and finale.

The other alternative is to ditch the outdoor crowd and have a large studio audience instead. It depends though how that's set up whether it would be successful - I wouldn't want a traditional TV audience set up, it needs to be more informal.

I have opted for no crowd though - the evictions desperately need something different, and ditching the crowd forces a change. "Studio Davina" is also a much, much better presenter than "middle of the mob Davina".

i like the crowd...but push they waaay back to where they used to stand during BB3/4....I much preferred it them.

I want it like the BB5 crowd, there seemed to be more people and the stage was right infront of teh audience.

Crowd. There wouldn't be no BB atmosphere if there wasn't a crowd.

Crowds of course big brother would not be the same without them and Davina likes a big audience, you know what Davina is like dont you

You don't need a big crowd for atmosphere though, and sometimes a smaller more intimate crowd can be more effective. Deal or No Deal is an obvious example - if they had a big studio audience I don't think it would work as well.

but this is big brother not deal or no deal.

Deal or No Deal have audiences for different purposes. Upon eviction, the crowds IMO usually represent the opinion of the general public although many people confuse things and think that forums such as this are average viewers when in fact they aren't. You're not wrong to say Deal or No Deal doesn't have an intimate audience but look at evictions on similar shows such as I'm a Celebrity. The atmosphere there is as flat as a pancake and even with a smaller audience people would just be standing there clapping. It wouldn't add much but it would take away a lot.

The housemates know they will probably get booed but the housemates and the public shouldn't take it to heart. As Davina says, its only panto.

It's gone way beyond panto though in the last couple of years. If axing the crowd means the housemates can relax more and don't spend the first few weeks analysing their reaction on the way in and their last few weeks worried about being booed on the way out then so be it.

Usually the ones that get booed are promo girls, boring housemates and bitchy housemates. Considering BB7 and BB8 were made up of these types of housemates the booing is inevitable.

I definately think some change is needed. Perhaps moving towards an indoor audience would be a good compromise - and I think the crowd could be more controlled indoors.

Did you see Beat the Star last night - I think that sort of arrangement could work, with the audience completely around the studio.

I am torn with whether a crowd works or not. Like the OP I think that it bring a live atmosphere to the show but in recent year the booing and heckling is just getting too much. It spoils the eviction when someone gets booed for no apparent reason. If a house mate has been manipulating, rude, aggressive and underhanded etc in the house then I can agree that they might get some negative feedback from the crowd and they may well have brought that on themselves but where does it go over the mark of decency?

Even the worst HMs shouldnt be booed in the way they have been in recent years, it spoils the show for me personally. I think a little slapstick is fine but they are really scary sometimes and that isnt fair.

I like to see a crowd but I would like it to be more controlled. I am not saying people are not entitled to their opinions or to boo just my preference is that if they need to boo do it then move on, dont ruin it for everyone else.

I agree Sunny, it can ruin the show because the extent of the booing in recent years has become out of control and the housemates will realise this from the very start because the booing has become normal in the launch shows too. I mean how can you boo someone who you have only just seen a clip of.....? Its crazy and downright mean to be honest but isnt that what British culture has become?

I think the launch night crowd should be banned of public members. Instead, friends and family of the housemates, the press and people who work on the show and in and around the studios as well as maybe some other people from another audience from Elstree to make up a Hijack sized crowd who have to cheer rather than the usual mob.

It would be so meh if they dident have crowds. Look at BBUS, that's so boring.
