View Full Version : Looks like BB is back at 10pm - Desperate Housewives pulled!

Full explanation here: http://www.bbspy.co.uk/index.php?subaction=showfull&id=1211305377&ucat=1
Basically TV listings out today indicate next week's Desperate Housewives will be the last episode until "later in the year", taking out the main thing preventing BB airing at 10pm each night.
The 9pm slot on Tuesday and Wednesday is filled with The F Word and River Cottage, while programmes for June on channel4sales.com seem destined for the 9pm slot rather than 10pm - absolutely no peak-time drama has been commissioned.
My Name is Earl etc. are likely to just be pushed back to a later slot on Thursdays, meaning BB will be back at 10pm from Monday to Thursday - exactly where it belongs.
Eviction night will have to be adapted now Corrie has nicked the 8.30pm slot, with 9-10.30pm looking most likely, followed by The Friday Night Project. There doesn't look to be any filler programmes for the 9.30pm slot.
Weekends still to be confirmed, but likely to remain on Sunday at 9pm. If On the Couch is back, the 8pm slot will be free too - and what happens on Saturday night is down to C4 really. The slot is available if they want BB, but personally I think it's best to keep the one night off a week.

So C4 are finishing and moving programs to fit around Big Brother it shows they really want it to work this year, well done C4. I am annoyed at C4 pulling Desperate Housewives but its the best for Big Brother because t can't go up against the Apprentice. Looks like C4 are doing everything they can to make this a successful series.

Thank GOD DH is going.
BB belongs at 10pm :)
It looks like they're capitalising on BBC and ITV News at Ten. That would be a very logical solution. 10pm is also the time when a lot of people are just getting settled after coming in from being sat outside, assuming we will actually get a summer

The good thing about the 10pm slot this year is there is no competition, I doubt Big Brothers audience make sure they watch the 10pm news every night. BB9 could be getting some very good ratings and winning its slot regularly.

Damn you Big brother
Desperate Housewives needs to stay.

Exactly, im actually looking forward to this now :D
Big Brother is a true 10pm show. It always felt strange watching it at 9.

I've always thought of BB as that guilty desert you probably shouldn't have but can't resist, so it's always worked best in the later slot, rather than served up as the main course earlier in the evening.
Crucially though this means the shows main competition will always be the news on both BBC1 and ITV1, which not only gives it a better chance of picking up more viewers, but will also give it a more stable viewer base too as people won't be dipping in and out of it dependent on what is on other channels on certain nights of the week.

Im really please that it will be on 10PM, it just didn't feel right when it was on at 9PM

Im not overlly excited about the pulling of Desperate Housewives, but i am glad, that this series i think will be one of the best, C4 are obviously pulling out all the stops to make it the best....
I havnt seen the new set of Adverts....where can i see them?
BB9 is shaping up to be a fabulous series. Well done C4 if you have finally learned that BB will do great at a 10pm slot!
As Tom_ said.... during the summer 9pm is just too early. I always end up going out or chatting with people around that time.... 10pm makes much more sense.
But this means BBBM will be on at 11pm... which is good too.

Inside Big Brothers Youtube account is probably the best place to get them all in one place , if you dont mind annoying watermarks.

Anyway, does this mean the eviction show will just be one long show? Not split in two?:bigsmile:

WHAT!! in good gods name are they doing to me?!
DH pulled!? Til later in the year?!
Gah, this crapfest on tv is no longer on my schedule. I refuse to watch BB9 until they provide me with my DH fix.

Desperate Housewives better stay on E4 at least.
Its not bad enough that Ugly Betty has vanished this will too?
America is soooo far ahead of us with everything now. Stupid Writers strike.
I'm really happy that Big Brother will be shown in its original 10pm slot. That's where it works best, and it just felt strange watching it at 9pm.
I'm sure they could have worked around Desperate Housewives without pulling it completely, but if it means a more sucessful BB then I'm happy to wait 3 months. It would be better if this week's was the last because it's the one with the hurricane, which would end on a high.

People would be complaining if DH was being pushed out to 11pm, or even if it moved earlier to 9pm.
I know with one of the earlier series they moved Teachers to 9pm to accommodate Big Brother at 10pm and it didn't do as well in the earlier slot.
DH is taking a break though at a natural point in the series. I'm guessing though it was a late decision as otherwise I think they'd have bought it back earlier to get the series in before BB.
The next question then is whether the 10pm shows will be finished at 10.50pm or 11.05pm. Personally I hope for 10.50pm - as I've said before I believe the slightly shorter show results in a better edited show with less filler material. Also, for those put off by the later start time it means they'll be in bed 15-minutes earlier, so may watch rather than deciding not too because it finishes too late.

I hope for a 10.50pm finish too because its about half an hours worth of highlights and on the odd occasion they extend the show giving a real impression that something interesting and major has happened.

I wonder why Channel 4 aren't able to show Desperate Housewives and other US shows around the same timeline as Ireland do? The series finale is broadcast tonight on RTE1 here!

Desperate Housewives pulled!!! Why?? Its a great show. Its been getting over 2 million(normally 2.2-2.4M) which is good for Channel 4 at 10.

Go to www.sidereel.com/Desperate_Housewives and they give you links for sites where you can stream/download DH.
If you haven't got divx I'll suggest you download it, as that streams the show in the best quality. Go to www.divx.com, then download the newest edition, it only take a few seconds and shouldn't slow down your computer in any way.
When you got divx, try out this site www.ninjavideo.net, it is the best site to watch all your fav US shows in divx. A couple of hours after DH aired on Sunday in America they had the epi on their site. All you need to do to watch their videos is to get the http://www.ninjavideo.net/helper.php. It is a similar style download to divx, and it helps to make your divx faster.
If you do all that {it sounds long, but only should take a few minutes top}, then you can sit back and enjoy your DH fix. BTW ninjavideo only has episode 12 onwards. But C4 will pull it after episode 11 so that is the only ones you should need.

Ssshhhh. When you find sites like that if you want them to stick around you should never tell anyone - not publically anyway.
It's now been confirmed by C4 that Desperate Housewives will return with the remaining episodes in the autumn.

GRRR, First Ugly Betty now this. Why can't they just show the remaining episodes earlier or later? C4 are awful when it comes to their american imports.

I doubt this, according to the press site, DERREN BROWN: TRICK OR TREAT takes the 10pm slot on Friday 6th June, so me no think so.
And to add, they're not going to pull their (probably) highest rating show. Even C4 aren't that stupid. Besides, the public will come down on C4 like a ton of bricks if they do.
Brekkie
20-05-2008, 04:30 PM
Well they have - and C4 have confirmed it today as well.
Desperate Housewives doesn't get the ratings it did a few years ago anyway, and even in a bad season Big Brother would out-rate it - so it all makes perfect sense.

I want to cry.
No joke.
Full on cry.
I adore Desperate Housewives and Big Brother.
But I waited forever for DH Season 4 and I don't want it to stop half way through. Like everyone else watched Season 4 on the internet I waited cause I'm sad like that and now I'm gonna have to wait again. :bored:
God not been on here in a while. Ive come back since the new series is starting, i said I wasnt gonna talk because I cant be bothered, but I thought desperate housewives viewers would like this news.
DH isnt being pulled due to low ratings or due to big brother. Its being pulled because early this year in America there was a writers strike, and DH was hit by it and it had to stop broadcasting for several months, the series is only just getting back on track in america, and to make sure the uk is the same length of time away as it always is, they are delaying our series of it aswell.
It will be back most likely after BB, but we are basically feeling the effects of what america went through earlier this year. It will most likely happen with alot of your fave programs.
So yeh... hope thats usefull :)

Desperate Housewives season 4 has finished in America. This is most likely due to Big Brother.

Yes but there is always a time gap between the american series and the uk series, reasons I dont personally know. Just saying... thats why they are cutting a series half way through. Because the tornado/hurricane thingy is the exact point the strike happened.

All the episodes are there. The series has finished in Ireland and America. C4 are choosing not to show it in the UK until Autumn so it doesn't clash with their home-made shows.
BTW- series finale is a real REAL SHOCKER!!!

So as you can see Brekkie, this was false information. C4 aren't stupid enough to pull one of their best shows.

In fairness nobody ever confirmed that BB would be on every night at 10. IBB were just putting the pieces together. Obviously they were wrong.
