Loukas
08-08-2008, 06:54 PM
I just watched BBC news and they said 100 2012 organisers were at the games, they interviewed some guy who was the executive producer for 2012 and he said
"I think we can top that, it was excellent however i don't think teenagers will have sat down and watched the first hour or 2 of the game."
He went on and said that 2012 will "Appeal more to the teenagers."
I really think they can top that, i mean look at the fireworks at the London Eye for the beginning of year, they are spectacular shows and i thought the 2008 fireworks at the Eye beat China's new year fireworks. I'm going to stay optimistic about it and wish them the best of luck.
BigSister
08-08-2008, 07:06 PM
i was thinking that too DT our new years celebrations are usually really good i still think ours will be good but i dunno how we can top that

Opening ceremony was amazing! :bouncy:
Especially the bit where Li Ning held the torch started flying up! It was really unexpected and shocking (in a good way obviously!). :spin2:
And him running around the massive plasma screen seemed almost magical. (lol)
Finished by the revealing of the massive torch. (How did they keep that hidden!? lol!)
Now bring on the sport! :thumbs2:

Exactly, that's what the producers want to happen, they want to inspire little kids and teenagers to do more sport. I think it's a good theme. :).

It shouldn't just appeal to teenagers, the Olympics should appeal and inspire everyone. Safe to say London will cock up the olympics. It should of been Paris in 2012. :(

It should appeal to everyone
but aiming it to younger people gives the opening ceremony a theme, maybe Britain today focusing more on the youth. They could include street dancers or something. I really should organise the opening ceremony
Maybe London 2012 could be up there with Beijing 2008

It will inspire everyone, however they want to inspire the teenagers most. I think nothing has been confirmed yet, but that's the direction they want to be pointing to. It's not going to be JUST for teenagers, not a teenage program, however if it inspires mostly teenagers then the future will look brighter for the games.

I don't understand all this hype for Tom Daley... I know hes young and everything but come 2012 he would of burned out by then, too much too soon.
I agree about Tom. He is really overrated, according to Olympics Today on BBC1 yesterday evening, he is this years talk about athlete and is all over the front pages in China. One of the headlines were 'Little Britian.'
It's not good putting so much pressure on someone his age.
Tom isn't even going for a medal this year so I dont see wht the problem is. The media have took it far out of proportion in every single interview he has said he is there this year for the experience not for a medal, although if he wins a medal he said its just a bonus. There is nothing wrong with him entering this early in his life.
In the swimming heats there was a 15 year old girl. Cant remember where she is from but you dont see so much buzz about her.

I'm going to be a downer here but I didn't think that Beijing really captured the essence of the Olympics as well as Athens. It was just a spectacle of "hey look at our technology!" Too many performers, too long, no flow. London can definitely top that, but nothing will beat Athens. Also, I have serious issues with the UK team being called Great Britain. I get that there's the Northern Ireland issue, but Great Britain's an island for God's sake.
Wohay! First Gold for Team GB, Nicole Cooke.

The GB woman's archery team lost out to France from a Bronze medal earlier. Lost out by 1 point :(
Cooke won a well deserved Gold :D.
Lets see how Tom Daley and his partner dive today in the 3m synchro. The Water Cube is sold out, apparently it's sold out as people come from far and wide to watch 14 year old Tom dive. :S

Gold & Bronze in the Womens 400 Freestyle, the first in 40 odd years. :D. Was such a great final to watch especially seeing as Rebecca Adlington was 3/4 in the last 10 metres. Well Done to those 2!
^ Im so fed up with this hype about him, so over rated now that its boring. Hes going to burn out and peak before 2012 and I don't think they will win a medal either.

Well Done Team GB!! Winning 2 medels, well done Rebecca! And according to Sue Barker of the BBC, she said "That was not Rebecca's best race, the best is still to come!"
Well.. Tom Has Dived.. with his partner Blake Aldridge. They missed out on a medal, coming 8Th out of 8 pairs. He could of been Britain's youngest olympics medalist. Young Tom said "We obviously didn't dive very well. It was very disappointing but it was a great experience"

I thought Great Britain would of done better in the diving. They were as good as all the other countrys in the air but it was the land into the water which really let them down.
That badminton match was epic!! aaaah, I was so nervous! SO HAPPY that they won!
