You're right about the venues, but way off about everything else.
Fake Opening Ceremony.
Terrible hosting (army tanks, anyone?).
There have been heaps of problems.
The weather is ridiculous.... so humid - people are suffering

why i wouldn't agree they are the worst ever , i wouldn't say they were the best either
Sydney was pretty much the best olympics ive watched in my lifetime , after Seoul , Moscow (my first) and Athens.
the worst one recently was Atlanta '96
not my opinion , i just remember it getting really bad reviews and remarks at the time .
whereas pretty much everything i read / heard about Sydney was that it was the best ever modern olympic games.

MORE CEREMONY FAKES UNEARTHED
Stephen Hutcheon | August 15, 2008 - 12:08PM
The Olympic opening ceremony featured faked fireworks, a fake singer who lip synced to another girl’s voice and now it appears that the children appearing in costumes representing China’s 55 minority groups were also fakes.
The Wall Street Journal today quoting an official saying that the children were were performers at the Galaxy Children's Art Troupe, an artistic group which only comprises children drawn from the dominant Han nationality.
"I assume they think the kids were very natural looking and nice," Ms Yuan Zhifeng, the deputy director of the troupe, told the newspaper.
Han Chinese constitute about 92 per cent of the population with the 55 other ethnic groups, or nationalities as they are called, making up the rest.
The children were wheeled out during last Friday’s extravaganza dressed in costumes which identified them as belonging to, for instance, the Tibetan minority, the Mongol minority, the Kazakh minority and so on.
After years of inter-marriage, many of the minority groups have lost blended in with the Han majority, watering down their distinctive regional identities.
However, some groups, like the Russian minority found in China’s north-west, are clearly distinguishable by their fair skin and fair hair.
China often trundles out minority groups in costumes to represent the unity of the nation and the harmony among the various nationalities.
It was earlier reported that some of the fireworks shown on the live broadcast of the opening ceremony were digitally enhanced shots taken days earlier.
It was also revealed that the sweet nine-year-old shown singing a stirring rendition of “Ode to the Motherland” at the opening ceremony – a la Nikki Webster at the Sydney Olympics – was in fact only mouthing the words.
Moreover, she wasn’t even lip syncing to her own voice. Authorities later admitted that Lin Miaoke was just chosen to be the public face of Yang Peiyi, the girl with the voice of an angel, but with the teeth of a developing seven-year-old.
I stand by what I said. If a country has to force themselves into "fun and celebration mode" then they shouldn't have the Olympic games. If a country is going to send army tanks and soldiers marching down the streets in what is supposed to be a time of peace, then the shouldn't have the Olympic games.

She lost alot of places getting that water. Bet she is gutted!
Paula has fallen alot of positions, I think its due to grabbing the water, she is finding it difficult to get hers for some reason. Cant tell what position she is in... doesnt look good.

No Paula!! Come on!!
I really hope she doesnt drop out now, its nearly finished! Even if she takes it slow I just want her to finish.
Awww well ran Paula
Big shout out to Mara Yamauchi, 6th place wicked...
Paula is a Legend and I am glad she managed to finish! What an inspiration to everyone, such a shame as well because she just said she wasn't tired or feeling sick... its just her legs wouldn't do it. I really hope she makes it to 2012.
I mean... to think she has had a baby since the last olympics, and 3 months ago she had a stress fracture! And she still finished!

I think Paula should just throw in the towell, everyones carer has to come to a end, and I think hers is now. I admire her determination but I think its time for her to retire.
4 more gold medals today!

2004 she got an injury and couldnt carry on, this year she didnt have enough time to train, she got a serious injury 3 months ago and has to get over it.
I dont see any reason why she cant run in 2012, she will be in top shape then and she can give it one last shot, but as she said it just depends if her body is willing to do it. She didnt do rubbish considering, all she wanted to do this year was to finish the race. Considering she hasnt finished a marathon in over a year. It just Pee's me off a bit that someone says that because she is an amazing athelete and she could of done it but her muscles werent strong enough.
Remember Paula has set the world record for the marathon, and the woman who won it this morning was 15 mins slower of Paula's record!

18 golds now, and we now equal Australia in the total medals table, so they can't complain any more. We're still 3rd, which for a tiny country like us [population-wise] is pretty incredible.

the silly 4th runner decides to run to early and forget the baton, by the time she put an arm out for it the Jamaicans (who also bogged it) knocked them out and they went outside the exchange box, both Jamaica and Britain disqualified and Belguim won

GB Women Relay - They must feel so sh!t! Pure embarrassment and It's one of those things people will bring up in interviews for years to come, you know so they relive the shame over and over.

Really?
Do you have your page set up to show more posts maybe?
You can do that on the control panel I think.
People can edit how many posts per page you can have, if its lower then people will see more pages in this thread.

Thanks, didn't Daley come 11th though?
What's the sport like football but with hands called? (on red button atm)
Bronze medals confirmed for both Tony Jefferies and David Price in the boxing after both lost in their semi-finals.I didn't really expect much from Jefferies against the Irishman, he's done well to get a bronze though.
Price got totally outclassed by the guy from Italy, lost the opening round 5-0 then got stopped in the 2nd round after a big overhand right sent him flying into the ropes.
I cannot believe we threw another medal away in the relays. At least both the men and women's teams in the 4 x 400m look in good shape.

handball?
Flipping ridiculous Taekwondo! Those judge's should be fired and sent out in a rocket towards the sun!
How could they not see that, that was an obvious 2 pointer to the head?!! I'm so glad we made an official complaint, she deserved to go to that semi, but deserved a little better. But very very happy she won bronze and SO CHUFFED THAT THE CHINESE DIDN'T GET A MEDAL!!!
******ing ridiculous...

10m Platfrom Diving Final was absolutly, insanely good! Griping!
Matthew Mitcham !
LOL! Did anyone else ear them playing Chariots of fire onto the Cube after it had all finish!:laugh2:
He did so well on that last dive! I'm glad he beat the chinese!
The judging in the Taekwondo has just been a total piss take.
Huge congrats to Britains James Degale who won the gold medal in the middleweight boxing. Was a really scrappy contest with an awful performance from the ref though, he let the Cuban get away with so many fouls and even penalised Degale for holding that was initiated by the Cuban.I think the contest should have been over in the second round after the Cuban bit Degale's shoulder.Depsite all the roughouse tacticts, James managed to prevail and get our first gold in boxing since 2000.I think if he turns pro he can go a long way.
Watching some of the other finals today and I was hugely impressed by the featherweight gold medal winner from Ukraine. He's been totally dominating everyone on the way to the final but I thought he might have a fair bit tougher against the Frenchman but he destroyed him in 2 rounds.
The division that I feel has been the strongest and most interesting is at light welterweight. The two guys that got bronze were very unfortunate,Alexsis Vastine of France was a classy counter puncher and the Cuban Sontolongo had super quick hands and reflexes and was an utter joy to watch. The final was a real clash of style though, the reigning champion from Thailand had advanced using the same tactis with his long reach and quick body punches but those were figured out by the Felix Diaz, he exposed the weakness of the inside fighting and just tore him apart.Diaz really looks like he could make an impact in the pro's.
Emzy-!!

Indeed, it's been the most enjoyable olympics I've watched.

The Judging for the
Taekwondo
Diving
Boxing
and
Gymnastics
Has Been Awful. They should be ashamed. seems the chinease contenders do things wrong and still get a mark up from the judges.
Happy to see the English Girl have her Semi final match after being cheated out of it though she got bad judging against her in the semi.
And the Cuban who kicked the ref in the face and pushed the judges Today Made the olympics he done what we all wanted to see!

I have watched the...
Seoul 88
Barcelona 92
Atlanta 96
Sydney 2000
Athens 2004
But the best out of what i have see is beijing 2008 olympics... Team GB have been fantastic and they could have got more golds! The money that beijing have spent will not happen again in a long long time.. £20.bn... London can only spend £7.9bn for 2012 olympics!!
