View Full Version : Should animals be treated well?
Spike

I have been thinking about this alot recently. Up until now I have always thought animals which will be eaten should be looked after in the right conditions and not treated badly
but now I am thinking they are a product which are going to die if looked after or not. Why waste extra money on them when they will just be killed and eaten? It is a life but they are below us in the food chain, so why shouldn't we farm them badly to our advantage because we are above them.
I know most people will say they should be treated well but what are your thoughts on this?
Yeh I think they defo should be.

Thats like saying we should lock you in a cupboard for your life... doesnt matter, you are going to die anyway! Let them enjoy what life they get! Remember these are not objects, they are not like apples, they are living breathing animals. Would you shove your dog in a cage and watch it waste away slowly and say "Oh well it will die eventually"
I extremely strongly disagree with your opinion.
Also I agree with the above, "A happy cow is a tasty cow" Very true... free range animals have been proven to taste nicer, stronger muscles... juicier meat!

I don't know if I believe animals should be treated well or not.
I can see the arguments for both sides now whereas before I just agreed with animals being looked after well.

The only argument I can see for... is that someone is greedy and wants lots of money. Someone prefers money than having morals!

I think your debate is a wrong debate because there is no question about it, it's like if you are asking: Should we be allowed to kill someone ?

yep...happy animals ARE tastier.
it's why they are killed humanely...if they are in pain, adrenaline whatever gets into the bloodstream and ruins the meat.
I think we should cut back on the amount of money we spend in over areas instead; eg. the stupid amount of money spent on fireworks at opening ceremonies and new years/x mas celebrations... cruelty is the worst thing on this earth. There are plently of ways of cutting costs to provide for animals

Have you ever seen how some animals are treated when in farms? It's disgusting and no animal deserves to be treated like that. Of course animals should be treated well.. I'm a little shocked that you would even say they shouldn't.

I'm really surprised that anyone could think that. We are all going to die eventually, does that mean we should make our lives as sh*t as possible because who cares we are just going to die anyway. We have killed many animals natual living instincts because of eating them, which in my opinion is bad enough. Chickens and cows have no survival instincts what so ever and they completely depend on us, which they shouldn't. Animals were here before us humans so they have the right to live life just as good as us, if not better.
Yes, they also deserve to be killed humanely. Some might say thats an oxymoron but I mean something very quick and "painless", not the way halal meat is produced.
I hate it when animals aren't treated fairly, its the reason why I won't go near KFC.

You can't say that as a fact, you have to state that that is your opinion because otherwise that can be quite offensive.

I disagree with you there. You don't know for a fact he's not real and why should you say religion is lies? People can choose to be a part of a religion if they want to. That's the point of faith, that's what they believe. So don't say it as if it's a fact because it's never been proven and probably never will. But that's moving onto a whole other topic.

I can state that as fact until there is enough proof God is real and religion is correct.
Kate..

No you can't because then people that beleive in it can say that it's a fact that god is true because there's no proof that he isn't.

Well ok then those people can prove it.
I can't and don't have to prove that something isn't real because thats the point it isn't real so how can there be any proof?
Kate..
09-09-2008, 06:20 PM
How can you proove it isn't real?

You're just close minded. You think your opinion is fact when it's not.

I can't prove he isn't real because there is no proof of his existance apart from what a few crazy people said thousands of years ago.
you can only prove that someone is real, and until someone can prove God is real in my mind he isn't

well, you can't prove there is no God either...so it's not a fact :)
and for billions....religion plays a big part in their lives...and they will do what their religion says...and most, if not all (I ain't an expert in all the millions of em) do say all about respect, treat others as you would want yourself..and just being nice in general. so yeah...sort of.

Spike, I'm with you on your opinion, I don't beleive in god either. I'm completely non religious. But you have to not be so narrow minded and offence to the people that do. You can't just go around thinking yours is the only opinion that matters.

but on this subject to me, its only my opinion which matters because if people take a step back they must see that religion is just a wasted of time and false hope
If we look over the thousands of years especially in areas like medicine people have realised more and more that God doesn't play a apart and its only a matter of time until people realise God plays no part in life and that will probably be when we die.
People who believe in those lies need something in their life and that is religion so I respect them for that. But I will not respect any religion ever because there is no proof in the world that these lies are in fact true.

I am against Halal meat, unfortunately I have to eat a halal turkey for xmas this year =/
We kill animals very humane these days, we use a Stun gun to paralyze the animal and send it in a coma so they are completely unaware with what is happening then the throats are slit. You cant get more humane than that, no pain, no panic for the animal. To them they are dead as soon as they get stunned.
Spike- IMO you're incredibly closed minded to religion. There is no proof God exists, and there is no proof that he doesn't exist therefore you cannot state it as a fact. There is just as much evidence on each side to suggest otherwise. For God's existence include miracles and the fact that Jesus did exist, but against is science. Then again, science doesn't know everything.

Don't worry Spike. You'll be relieved to see the video below of the conditions that animals bred for food (as well as entertainment and clothing) have to endure.

There's no point trying to explain things to you because you're set in your opinion and refuse to see that your opinion is NOT the only one that matters. You've offended me by what you've said in this thread.
until about 10 months ago i ate meat all the time
but then i started trying veggie foods and they tasted better in my opinion so now i hardly ever eat meat i think more people should give veggie food's a go :eureka:

Well yes... 100% thats like saying you will die eventually.. why bother giving you quality of life... in the food chain in nature they aren't locked up in a farm etc so get life until they die or are eaten... so we should keep that going

I really am sorry, I meant to put a warning on it actually (which i've now done) 'cause of its graphic nature. I remember it had the same effect on me when i first watched it & stayed with me for days. But on a positive note - I knew i could never ever again eat meat after watching it so not all bad!

I know most people will say they should be treated well but what are your thoughts on this?
But, If a animal is treated badly it can reflect in the taste of its meat.
All animals should be treat well whether there grown to be made into food or not. All animals deserve to live a nice life, wouldn't you like to be?
So what if there below us on the food chain, they still deserve to be treated fairly.
