X Factor Laura White deserved to go, says John BarrowmanWest End star John Barrowman says he’s not surprised Laura White was voted off Saturday’s X Factor because it’s impossible to “understand a word she’s saying”.
John, who was a judge on How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria in 2006 and Any Dream Will Do last year, exclusively told Mirror.co.uk: “A lot of people might not like this but I wasn’t surprised at the vote.
“She’s got a fantastic voice but no one ever mentioned her problem with diction, you can’t understand a word she’s saying.”
The singer, whose Gary Barlow-penned single What About Us is out November 17, also revealed he was “shocked” that Austin Drage was voted off and thinks boyband JLS and 16-year-old Eoghan Quigg “might go the distance”.
However, he has an interesting theory as to why Diana Vickers has apparently lost her voice and knows her mentor Cheryl Cole won’t like it too much.
He confessed: “This is gonna sound really very critical - Simon you’re not gonna like me and Cheryl sorry for saying this, but I think the reason Diana’s off with her voice being knackered is because she doesn’t sing correctly.
“She forces everything from her throat and it’s an affected sound to her voice. I don’t think she’ll last, but I think she’s got a unique voice and unique talent.”
